This thread is clearly a home for the gullible but a nice wind up nonetheless.

So, we've seen Rice outperform Poke all preseason and I'm a dunce for asking the question. Ok, I'll accept it was a little hasty to actually drop Poke (I too would select him). So, I ask you this: if Pokey is still flapping like he has flapped so far, how long do we give him?

Another question... Is it the same people who are praising Rice for being a 'hard-worker' the ones who turned on Chris McPhee so viciously?
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

You don't mean the Chris Mcphee who came back to the club and told us all what a good player he was, when in fact he appeared to have managed the impossible and actually got worse.
Now we have some muppet asking us to vote whether we should play Rice or Poke. Quite possible the most ludicrous thread that I have ever seen and I still don't believe it was meant to be serious.

That's because, as usual, you're basing your reply on thin air.

Back to just ignoring you completely I think. Actually, Louis, I've seen that feature on other sites, any chance we can have it here?

Ricey is playing tonight and could well start on Tuesday.

No one picked up on my post earlier on but Poke is struggling (quelle surprise) with injury. Not trained since the Stoke game.

Not again =Z I thought Pokey was back to true form against Stoke after a dodgy outing against Leeds. Let's hope it's not another injury ravaged season, else Lingy will need a replacement!

I don't get it.

Michael Poke who was outstanding for us and first choice in front of Bevan, is now being doubted.

We have a competent backup in Martin Rice and Dinger will put him in when necessary.

Get over Bobby moving on and get behind both current 'keepers with our full support.

I don't think anyone really has serious doubts about Pokey; just concern regarding his injury and hope that he'll be fully fit soon.

Right place right time.

Out through injury long term, then when it counted, came back in for the injured Bevan.

2008/09 season ?

Histon away ?

Cambridge at Wembley ?

Well, good luck to both of them.

I've seen the job advertisement which Poke was successful for when he joined us in June.

It went something like this.

New Torquay United Goalie Needed

1. Are you available?

2. Do you have your own gloves?

3. Welcome to Torquay.

That would be vaguely funny if Poke was rubbish.

I haven't been to pre-season, but surely Poke hasn't been that bad, has he?

Remember that some of the Gas fans that come on here seemed to suggest they were disappointed that they didn't get Pokey, so his confidence couldn't have taken that much of a battering at Brighton. I'm sure he'll come good.

Ricey seems like your textbook number 2. Local lad, hard worker, well liked. Capable of doing a job if required, but more than likely wouldn't be able to sustain the required level of performance over a long run of games.

It would seem that - with the money coming into the club this summer - Lingy has built a solid squad whilst keeping a bit of budget in reserve. I am pretty sure that Pokey will be number 1, and any long term injury issue will be covered by a loanee.
