Owers and Kuhl's points from games ratio notwithstanding; any manager who assembles a squad going into a season must take a huge part of the responsibility for the outcome of that season.

The current management will have to take their share too; but let's not delude ourselves as to the absolute shambles of a pre-season with the kit man given a jolly during a pre-season game; players arriving at the club unfit even to train let alone play and the total failure to secure more than one point from the first four games. That was and is unacceptable and the subsequent low return in productivity from too many of those summer signings indicate poor judgement and even worse diligence in carrying out investigation on their backgrounds.

Owers will tell anyone who will listen that many of the players he has signed are because his initial targets regarded the club as a joke and a joke it had become well before he arrived.

Must say that I am disappointed with the attitude being shown on this thread. The team pull off a vital win to keep our chances, or interest at any rate, going for a while longer and all we can do is slag off the manager responsible.

There will be plenty of time to apportion blame at the end of the season. For now for the last seven matches let's just get behind Owers and the team and hope for the best.

Something that was more prevalent during Nicholsons reign. Has Owers had to drive the minibus?
What is unacceptable is the need to constantly villify a manager who only had 4 games to show what his squad could do over a 46 game season. Owers will have had 39 games and twice as many players to garner enough points to keep us in the league. He's also had stability and the coaxing arm of his chairman over intimate dinners and still the clueless perfomances outweigh the good.

Just as some might say Owers doesn't have to wander over to fans to applaud them for the toils of travelling to away games I don't follow Plainmoor78's assertion, Owers is as deserving of criticism as anyone else over the last several years, doing it on a forum is hardly going to change our fortunes on the pitch.

No Dave, Owers hasnt had to drive the mini bus or wash the kit or Mark out the pitch of provide packups for the journey home or make the half time tea etc etc , why ?
Because the previous manager took far too much upon him self to keep the club running & the previous regime accepted this as par for the course, it's ok for someone at peninsula league standard to do these jobs but for a fully fledged professional football club it was a comical situation to be in , no wonder prospective players turned the other way when approached. Too bloody amateurish ,was the feeling about TUFC at that time, & it'll take some time to turn that attitude around.

And as for the argument, Nicho only had 4 games to show what his squad could do.
You know as well as the next bloke, Nicholson was never going to be here very long under this current crop of clowns, they should & could've got rid at the end of !ast season, then this tit for tat debate about Nicholson & Owers would be a non starter.

I'm not the one who feels the need to continually beat on the previous management because of how they got the job. Val Balson demanding Nicholson getting the job is no different to Osborne giving it to Owers. Owers is enjoying the full backing of his bosses and still floundering but gets an easy ride whenever the shortcomings of the squad are discussed. Now we're even being told Owers has it tough because Torquay are considered a joke club, well what a shock, how big a joke was it when Nicholson and Cox were offering players £150/week because that's all we could afford?

Owers is full of excuses not solutions and most seem quite happy to give the clown another season as we spiral towards oblivion.

Just as the previous conveyor belt of clowns since Buckle were persisted with & constantly fawned over, you pay peanuts , you get monkey's.

Presumably then Merse, by your own reasoning, if Torquay do avoid relegation you will be the first to acknowledge that Nicholson is responsible!
