Festive Football

Post by Banging_Them_In »

So, four games between Boxing day and the 4th January

Home v's Pirates Boxing day

Home v's greasers 29th December

Away v's greens 1st January

Home v's Morecambe 4th January

That is 4 games in 10 days. The great thing is that three are at home and the only one away involves a trip of only 30 miles, so there will be no tiredness caused by travelling.

I reckon' we'll get at least 6 points, with one win and three draws............. beating the grease in the last game of the year.

...... yes, and in this instance I use the word 'numpty' as a term of endearment, wholly based on your sense of humour based on multiplicatory mathematics..........

My 12 point prediction was not based on a vague sense of humour but more to do with the fact that it is a possibility.

And there was me about to associate you to somewhere a village was missing an idiot. But as you're using such terms of endearment I'd have to concur.
Let just agree that we both have the best intensions for our club.

Merry Christmas.

..... and a Merry New Year to you too !

Jeez, if we could get 100% over the next 4 games, that would be amazing, and would make us serious playoff possibles ...... oh yes please !!

Not sure about Playoffs (and I'm sure you're jesting with me) but it would certainly pull us out of this mess and restore a little pride to our club.

..... can't argue with that

A continued change of form could take us close to getting above both greens and greeks, which would be a satisfaction........I would take that !

considering the near 600 mile round trip for the Exeter game... could be a very long day.

Aim for 9 points settle for 7. Rovers and Exeter I think we can take 6 points. Would be good for a point from them lot down the road too.

Rovers at home has to be 3 points, they are sh*te and the easiest of our opponents over the Christmas period. Sorry regular Gas visitors to this site. :-/

Exeter at home can go either way and a draw would be acceptable as would a draw at Plymouth. Morecambe at home I'm not sure yet but 5 points from the 3 would be an excellent return IMO.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Gas - W
Greeks - L(they seem to win away and lose at home, so revenge will come!)
Gargoyle - D
Morecambe - D

Realistic head says 5 points, would be delighted with anything more(looking at the derby's for the bonus points)

Plymouth are a dreadful side who have found themselves a decent striker and some luck.

Reuben Reid has earned them nine points this year, which is the same number that Luis Suarez has earned Liverpool. Two keys to the match (as we saw at our place) keep him quiet and don't draw a referee who wants to give a penalty. That's sort of the same thing, since he takes the penalties, so maybe one and a half keys to the game. Argyle without Reid are bottom on 17 pts and with a -12 GD. The rest of the side are Conference garbage at best. Stop Reid scoring and the game is ours for the taking.

Exeter are a funny old side and epitomise this division. Can't stop winning, then can't win for toffee, then go 3-0 up in half an hour and almost throw it away. Could be anything.

Rovers, again, who knows. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to their play. Beat top of the table Oxford one week, get beaten by an Accrington side who, at the time were bottom with about 3 points, the next. Again, symptomatic of a division of zero genuine quality, where league position implies basically nothing about the quality of any given team.

We could happily win all three. We could be shit and take 9 points or we could dominate completely and take zero, it's a coin toss.

Matt.

Well now everyone is looking forward to these games, as opposed to before southend game.

Fancy 2 wins and 2 draws. Only exeter are decent of the 4 teams. and they are inconsistent.
Draws with rovers and city. Wins v argyle and morecambe
