How about Gary Monk
Would be a great loan cover for Downes. Monk has not played any league games or been on the bench for Swansea so far this season. He did play against Birmingham in the cup game last week after which he reported to the Welsh Argos that he urgently needs games....coming here could be good for both Gary and United....and of course he is a local Torquay lad.... Must be worth a phone call.

I'm sure he will cut his wages by 80% to play for Torquay again. I think he still captain there if I'm not wrong ?

He's no longer captain, he passed that over to Ashley Williams.
Personally I think it's very unlikely, if he does go out on loan then it'll be to a Championship/top half of League 1 team, irrespective of whether he enjoyed himself as a trainee here.
That said, if he likes the area then there is always a chance.

Last season he was linked with Bristol City when they were in the Championship.
I would imagine the chances of him coming here start with Z and end in ERO.
