Re: Hutchings released

I agree it was a good read but it shows there is something wrong with the system in this country if we are discarding players as we can't wait a year for them to develop. Does this mean the individual is a bad player ?? No it just means people's bodies develop differently. Eunan was released from Everton as he was physically weak and now look at how well he is doing. It just took him a bit longer to get there.
From all accounts Hutchings has settled in very well up there and in this article it looks like they may change his position

Re: Any truth in the rumour?

It's the first I have heard about this, I can't see it to be honest. As said above Bristol City were watching his early season performances but I think that interest has cooled a little.

Hutchings released

Just reading on Twitter that Hearts have signed Hutchings. Great we release him a week before he goes to a bigger club on trial hence we are now entitled to diddly squat.
Great business who's idea was that ?

Gulliball wrote:If he was not going to play against Alfreton (away) when no other defenders were fit, then it was hard to see a situation when he was going to get a game. It is disappointing to see the youth team graduates failing to make a first team impression, but Ives and Yeoman have shown that it is possible if you are good enough. I think the reality of the situation is that the youth team players at Exeter, and Ives/Yeoman, are simply better players and managed to earn themselves regular first team football. The way to get more youth team players into the first team is to improve the quality coming through rather than simply give more game time to the 17/18 year olds at the club. Levi Ives managed to get ahead of Cruise in the pecking order, I don't think Hutchings was ever going to get ahead of Downes/Pearce/MacDonald, and that's why he's been released. The same with Thompson and Chapell/Ajala/Briscoe/Cameron and Sullivan with Bowman/Acheampong/Yeoman - if they aren't going to get onto the pitch before their contracts expire then it's just bringing forward the inevitable.

So incredibly disappointing as it is to see one of our biggest hopes not make the grade here, unless you want to see MacDonald or Downes dropped for him, then you can see the reasoning behind it. This might be the difference in keeping Berry or another trialist at the club until the end of the season.
I think that the situation at alfreton was a win win for us but Chris failed to see it, the game was live on TV so the manager has only got to say to the cameras before the game we are giving a debut to a young centre back and if once on there he has a good game we are in a good situation. The club then knows he is good enough and it has also raised the players profile possibly putting him in the shop window to earn us revenue. By not giving him the chance we will never know and maybe Chris was just protecting the young lad. Either way I don't think we would have held it against Hutchings if he was thrown in and wasn't quite ready. I would like to think that a centre half who has played in the position all he's life couldn't have done worse than Richards on that day.

I also suggest we push the boat out and look after our future players and make them an offer that reflects their potential rather than the £125 a week we offered Levi. If that was my son who was an international I would be offended to think he could earn more stacking shelves at Tesco

Plainmoor roar
Come on mate take off those rose tinted glasses in Hargreaves eyes Hutchings may not be ready but if he was down the road at Exeter who knows what he may have achieved as tisdale throws in his youngsters and isn't frightened to give them a chance. I used to watch Hutchings play against Matty Grimes and tom Nichols etc and he always did well. What is the difference at Exeter they get a shout at Torquay they don't.

Of course I know he's left and gone back to Belfast and has told the club he's not coming back as he hates it here.
Believe the spin about a bad back if you choose, another one of our Crown Jewels has decided that Torquay is not the place to learn his trade. Look at what's happening at the minute and you make up your mind what state our club is in .

If we throw away compensation for being u23
Also a 30% sell on and add ons for making the 1st team I'd love you to be my financial advisor!

Hutchings released

I find this a very strange scenario, this lad was the one we were all excited about. I spoke to Jake in the bar on Sunday and apparently the club has gone back on an agreement to allow him to go back to hearts as when he was there before he got injured hence costing us money as Frome cancelled the extended Loan deal. I find this really odd as if a player is U23 we would be entitled to compensation from Hearts if they were to sign him. so for the sake of a few hundred pounds we turn down the possible future revenue of a quality young player that we have developed and the figure rising to thousands. We are currently struggling financially and all of the players that we have put time and revenue into are leaving because we don't have the finances to follow through their development. It's a sad state of affairs when Hargreaves is saying we don't have the funds to develop our own players. It's about now not the future which has got the alarm bells ringing.
In the past weeks we have released Niall Thompson
Jake Hutchings and
Dan Sullivan all these lads come through our academy if I was a future parent with a choice it definitely would be Exeter !
