Port Vale striker training with us.
Anyone know much about the lad?

Other than the fact he's got a terrific name, I know nothing.

Another one from Port Vale - is the link still that Smurthwaite guy? Is it true he still has no interest in the club?

He's a big target man type centre forward, who signed for Vale just over a year ago but hasn't featured that much. Vale fans are slightly split on whether he's good enough at that level, but the season ticket holder I spoke to rates him quite highly and feels he probably just needs match fitness and confidence.

When Vale signed him they appeared to beat a few other clubs to his signature, so am surprised that he hasn't gone on loan in Division 2, but of course the issue is almost certainly fitness, he might have turned up out of shape. He's definitely worth us looking at, can score goals, and the Vale fans think a good spell here could result in him forcing his way back into the 1st team.

Coincidentally the Smurthwaite connection here is that Campion appears to have been his personal signing, for his then manager Mickey Adams who I think left about 3 weeks later (if I have my timings right), and the new manager never seems to have taken to him. But that surely will be a coincidence, Vale recognise how well young Smith is developing at Torquay, and will want to see Campion match fit and scoring goals.

25 year old French lad. Went to university in the US. Big n' strong centre forward apparently. Will hopefully provide some good competition up front and possibly be a better partner for Marsh.

Since when does a contracted player with a League club go to train with a non-league club without a proper loan? He clearly can't be any good so why would we want him? Hang on - could he be a striker who can head, hold the ball up and shoot on target ?
If yes he might just be better than that fraud Fisher who thinks he's a professional footballer.

You might want to cut the guy some slack. He's had to go and visit a family member in France who is in hospital due to some kind of accident.

He's signed for a month according to BBC Sport, more on official site, apparently the player fund has helped to secure the deal.

I presume he's no good at back heels (work that one out).

Pleasing to see that the players fund has assisted in this.

Hopefully that will galvanise more people into contributing.
