So you said something along the lines of your credibility would be in the gutter if ML didn't return to work?

I'm not sure you were ever a genuine poster anyway but it just goes to prove so called 'insider knowledge' doesn't always come to fruition. We all get it wrong but perhaps you shouldn't jump the gun next time and shout down people who dare to question your reliability.

He's always seemed like a decent and genuine poster so I'm sure he'll be along at some point to admit he was wrong......

It seems as this might be a recent change of heart so when he posted this it could of have been correct. No need for a witch-hunt on this.

No need to rub his nose in it, situations may have changed. I welcome Supergulls contribution to the board, as I do everyone elses.

Normally so would I, but his attitude wasn't exactly pleasant when anyone dared question whether his information was solid.

Well you wouldn't welcome the pm's he sent me. Apparently he used to watch Leyton Orient and is now apparently a Torquay supporter. He is either a Martin Ling stalker or a relative I reckon.

I'm not going anywhere a player who shall remain nameless told me that he was having his contract meeting with Martin on Wednesday of this week. So when I posted over a week ago that Martin was returning to work the information was correct. Even as I posted yesterday afternoon that would have been the case. How was I to know that at 19.30 last night the board terminated his contract. I did say that I didn't think it was cut and dry that he would be staying because when I heard Alan knill was staying in the area for a weeks holiday alarm bells started ringing.
As I said before I was just purely trying to pass on information that had been given to me. I do not wish to argue with my fellow supporters . At the end of the day the statement released by Martin ling confirms that he did expect to return to work today so at the time of posting it was correct information, however I wasn't aware of the events that were unfolding.
I hope this clears up the situation if anyone feels the need to have a go at me then I'm big enough to take it on the chin, but I really can't understand what I have done to warrant it.

Fair enough sg, I merely started this thread as I thought you seemed to get the hump when I suggested your info might not have been 100%. But I was still grateful that you said what you knew, bygones and all that

No problem at all with anything you have said Super, I think the only issue was that Lingy coming down for a meeting with the Board never necessarily translated into Lingy is returning to work as there were always two parties involved in all of this and ultimately it was always going to be the Board who had the final say on things. I know they met last Wednesday and no doubt this situation was top of their agenda and who knows whether the out one might not have been totally different if we had of been relegated. In all honesty it may well of been that the Board of TUFC only made this decision on Sunday when they knew their League status and just as crucially the central funding was secure.

I think we should all draw a line under this thread, now. No need to castagate one another. After all we are all on here with one thing in common, Torquay United FC. Perhaps we can all learn a lesson or two, from this, and move on.
Lets be nice to one another.

Apologies if I have offended anyone, sometimes the way things come out when written is not the way it is intended if said verbally. As I said the player was told he was meeting with Martin on Wednesday but obviously Wednesday never came. I do believe that if we had been relegated he may have stayed in post as the financial implications meant less money to pay him off.
First and foremost I'm a Torquay fan and at no point was ever against knill, I just felt that Martin was getting a bit of a hard time on here and being the loyal fool that I am backed him wrightly or wrongly. I will support the new manager whoever that will be with the same passion and as I said above I never set out to offend or fall out with anyone. I'm looking forward to the new season and hopefully we can sit near the top of the table where we deserve to be.
