- This is an unpaid, volunteer role and requires the successful candidate to be fully committed.
- There are duties which may need to be fulfilled outside of match days.
- Acting as the first point of contact for supporters on supporter issues, listening to requests and concerns of fans and communicating these requests and concerns to the club.
- Attend all home matches and ideally away ones.
- Set up a team of Matchday Ambassadors to lead and direct. To brief the team regarding duties before each game.
- Be visible and available to supporters on match days.
- Contribute to a positive supporter culture and work proactively to encourage good behaviour and mediate potential conflict situations.
- Liaise with opposition SLO prior to matches to go through set check list for away fans visiting Plainmoor.
- Attend meetings with the club CEO as required.
- To be a ‘go-between’ between the football board and supporters.
- Attend post-match debriefings and participate in related activities as needed.
- Liaise with the FA and National League as required.
- Ideally a regular home and away supporter.
- Approachable and willing to listen.
- Ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Good judgment in balancing dual responsibilities to club and fans.
- Be a member of the Torquay United Supporters Trust (TUST) but not essential.
- Strength of character to ensure supporters’ views are represented to the club as well as ability to communicate responses which may not always be welcome.
- Listening skills.
- Well organised and conscientious.
- Have tact and discretion.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Be able to make decisions.
- The SLO will be responsible to the club’s Head of Operations.
