Grimsby Town v Torquay United, 23rd April 2022
The point of no return.
A game where we need three points to have any chance of reaching the play-offs and put a bit of a dent in one of our rivals.
At least the two teams will be looking to play football and the fans won't have to suffer the shenanigans of the Eastleigh players from Monday....
To those travelling to the fine place :} that is Grimsby for the first time, please note that the ground is actually in the seaside town- yes seaside town -of Cleethorpes.
For those requiring some liquid refreshment on arrival, the pub closest to the ground (Blundell Park Hotel) unfortunately no longer allows away fans in, so best to stay in Cleethorpes and visit the ones there - there is actually a pub on the railway station - the No.1 Pub - which will be helpful for the Inter-City Firm of Yokshire Gulls arriving by this method.....
There is also the imaginatively named ‘Number 2 Refreshment Room’ pub on the station approach, as well as an impressively sounding Wetherspoons called the Coliseum Picture Theatre which is on the High St. Although Mrs SNW regards Wetherspoons as "Dobber Pubs"
So, hopefully 3 points and another chance to take the p*ss out of the Grimsby fans again like we did when we sent them down after spanking them 3-0 with 10 men even after the Pickler got sent off.
Gee, the Cods weren't happy about that and wanted to discuss it with us afterwards..... :} ......But not in a polite way......
Safe travels to all those going to the game.
Up the Gulls.

Regrettably due to work commitments with the Dobber pub company I can’t make tomorrow. However enjoy your day mixing with those 3 arm , 4 legged inbreds. If only barrow and Grimsby could join together the world would be a safer place.SuperNickyWroe wrote: ↑22 Apr 2022, 09:40 The point of no return.

Fair play to those making the 650 mile-round trip.
Hard to call, we're on great form but we knew 5 games ago we'd probably have to win every game bar one. Grimsby are on a great run, we needed them to slip up against Stockport or at Kings Lynn.
It's been a fantastic effort by the squad. If Lapslie is fit I'd go for a 1-1 draw, but who knows in this league.
If we manage 70 points that goes way beyond what anyone would have expected in December, so definitely something to build on.

.....Thats not what the Cod fans said on the way out......standupsitdown wrote: ↑23 Apr 2022, 20:16 Commentator on club radio (who was rubbish) seemed to think it was and said the players didn't protest much.
Anyway, disappointing result after controlling the 1st half.
They looked nervy and we were on the front foot from the kick-off and could have score before we did.
Their keeper (the tw*t) mad an excellent save at 0-0 and another after Asa had made it 1-0.
The Lemon should have made it 2-0 with a free header from 12yds but could only glace it wide.
Then of course the inevitable happened - richocet clearance, Wynts arm up appealing for offside, a shot from outside the box and its 1-1.
A very similar goal to the one we conceded at Alty.
But, play to the whistle FFS!
They came out 2nd half and tbf, dominated - we had a few half chamces, whereas theirs were more clear cut.
Mox went offf injured, which changed our formation and we didnt look as comfortable.
A couple of good saves from Mc.
Then the pen 90+1min.
Hard to see from our end if it was, but the ref seemed to give it straight away and nobody complained.
Sent Mc the wrong way and we lose 2-1.
Generous round of applause at the end from the Cod fans regarding the yellow army away support - a nice touch.
And then to get told by them that they didnt think it was a pen....
Dont know if they were being polite or saying how it was....
Anyway.
Thats that.
B*llocks.

Listened to the humberside commentary on saturday, gave up on ours after three minutes, and now watching the short highlights ,first half we should have had at least three if we could have finished and that was without Halls thunderbolt. Their first goal was down to Mcdonalds , dived far too late, thought he may have been unsighted but watching it several times he had a clear view. Still not sure on the penalty but either way what was little doing trying to dribble out of his own area, recipe for disaster and poor decision making.

Being there it was easy to see that Mc had no chance.
It wasnt that he dived "too late" as you put it - their player hit it early and into the bottom corner - no keeper saves that.
