Lloyd James signs!

Post by GoodringtonGull »

Torquay add midfielder on-loan to their ranks. Looks to be a great signing on paper, with loads of first team experience.

Appearances:
2005–2010 Southampton 71 (2)
2010–2012 Colchester United 51 (1)
2012 - Crawley Town (loan) 6 (0)
2012–2016 Leyton Orient 108 (8)
2016–2018 Exeter City 83 (3)
2018– Forest Green Rovers 35 (0

Just spoke to an Exeter fan at work. He said James is experienced, nothing special in terms of creativity but if you're after someone who keeps control and keeps things ticking in CM then he'll be worth it. He also said the ECFC crowd got on his back a bit as they were frustrated he didn't do much, conference level he could be more appreciated.
He said the club were so surprised to be offered a fee from Forest Green that they snapped their hand off, otherwise he would have stayed at St James Park.

Appears to tick a number of boxes. As I have stated before our backbone needs to be stronger. . .

I have just read a long interview Lloyd James gave Forest Green Rovers last January which sums up his long career very well.
Over 350 League appearances so loads of experience and could be just the sort of player to bring some stability to the midfield so decimated by injuries.

Thank goodness for that, not looking for some creative genius, some of our youngsters can fulfil that function, he seems to fit our bill, bags of experience, and knows how to run a mid field like Hall used too.

It is good news.

I’m not quite sure how it’s possible to have so many injured midfielders, there was me worried about how the team selection would pan out at the beginning of the season with so many midfielders but I ended up worried for the polar opposite with so few!!

Hope we can sign an experienced CB on a permanent deal too in the near future.

Our two GKs have potential but a goalkeeping legend wouldn’t go amiss at this point too!

An experienced CB will probably happen in January, when some of the current loans ends

Encouraging - just what we need, an experienced head to control midfield, we have other young lads to do the box-to-box running. We have really missed Frank Vincent who could both link and run and who has also helped to bring on Matt Buse as a real find.

Natural 4-4-2 should be the play Saturday, Start Macdonald in goal wynter right back, Niate, Cameron Cb’s, Lewis LB.

Andrews and Keating on the wings Buse and James Central.

Reid and Lewington up top.

No Lewington - he's cup tied having played in the Trophy for Tiverton.

Would like to see the three(?) kids given a start, along with the new boy, Keating, maybe Buse at right-back.
Reid and anyone carrying a knock should definitely be given a rest. Although it's useful to stay in the Trophy for a couple of rounds to give the fringe players a game the League has to be the priority.

If you said a month ago to play our academy in this game, I’d have agreed. Considering we need a win to pick up the confidence, I’d say start a strong line up. Have some of the academy on the bench though.

Interesting hinting at a few players could be back for Christmas and new year. My Christmas present would be to have Davis back for Yeovil away. He’s the most important player in our squad. What I’d do to have him fit. Anyone know how far away himself & little are?
