We've just signed a new frontman. I believe his name is Ross Hannah
Young lad from Matlock who has scored over 70 in two seasons for them.
Nominal fee for a player who played behind closed doors yesterday.............................................. and scored !!

Pretty sure this lad was on trial at Swindon a few weeks back.
I'm glad we have finally signed someone from the real lower leagues! There are some quality players down at that level that are worth the gamble, look at Charlie Austin. Not only did he score for fun, but earned Swindon a big fee!
Well done Bucks, and well done to the scouting team

101 goals for Matlock.
Can't wait to see him play! Only a young'un too!

He'd better not be a milimetre shorter than 5 foot 10!
About time, we would've been very lucky to get to the end of the season without an extra option up front, so this is good news.

Good news.
I love signings like this - a relative "unknown" from the non league. OK so it may be a gamble but personally I would much rather us signing a guy like this than borrowing some kid from the Premiership who is only here for a short time and who isn't used to "slumming" it in the lower leagues.
His goalscoring record is excellent at the level he is at (51 by my reckoning so far this season in all comps and including PSFs) - which is a decent one, containing the likes of AFC Halifax, FC United and Northwich Victoria to name a few.
Reminds me of the signing of Effion Williams all those years ago, although with (presumably) a much lower price tag. At 24 years of age and with his contract up in the summer I very much doubt the "nominal" fee was much more than £10k - and certainly worth a gamble. Nice also to see that our scouting net appears to be spreading out further these days - not just restricted to the ususal South/South West clubs.
I look forward to seeing how he gets on.

Very exciting news - love it when you sign a young lad with real potential from non-league!
Hope it turns out to be a real gem!

It's a bit like O'Kane signing really. An unknown, and look where he's got to! As CP says, it's an excellent goalscoring record, just like Charlie Austin had for Poole Town.
I'd imagine it's a small fee + a sell on clause, incase his career lifts off at Plainmoor.

Bet he is vertically challanged, & can best be described as a "giant midget". No problem as long as he continues to" bang em in".

Can't find too much about the lad but taken from the Matlock Town website...
23 years old Ross joined Matlock from neighbours Belper Town in the summer of 2008, where he had been the leading scorer. His career began as a junior at both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United before he joined Stocksbridge in 2004. Then followed a move to Belper but he then joined Gainsborough Trinity for a short spell before returning to the Nailers. Despite injury, Ross had a great first season at Matlock ending up as top scorer and collecting the fans Player of the Year Award. Last season was even better as he swept the board at the club s Presentation Evening winning the fans and players player awards plus the leading scorer trophy. He also won the UniBond Premier Division s Golden Boot Award.
http://www.matlocktownfc.co.uk/squad.html - towards the bottom. I think he's the one closest to the camera on the banner at the top, if it is, he's a short a*se!

The Evo-stick league is a good standard, and stand out players at that level are very competent indeed. You don't score 50 goals a season at that level without being incredibly talented.
At 24 he's surely going to be giving it his all to make it as a professional. It would be easy for him to pick up a decent part-time wage from football whilst having a full time job, and a lot of players make more money than professionals doing this.
Bearing in mind he's 24 and out of contract in the summer, as CP said, the fee shouldn't be too high. This is a gamble definitely worth taking - he doesn't have to be the next Charlie Austin to be a success.
Well done to everyone involved in making this happen. Hopefully it's on the official site soon.

How can a fee be involved when it's outside the transfer window? If this is true then i'm very happy as I love gambles on non-league players. Where did you hear this SG?
I think the transfer window only applies down as far as BSP?

I thought that was the case too hence why we've managed to sign him now.
Anyway, his goalscoring record looks class. Can't wait to see him in action - the kind of player definately worth a gamble on.
Let's see how he gets on, hopefully he comes here with a positive mindframe and work ethic and is willing to work hard and be rewarded with a first team spot if he impresses in training & the reserves.
