Sorry Dave, 'twas me suggesting he was at the game last night, I cocked it right up.

Guys, I'm not suggesting that any of you are suggesting that Dave is lying or mistaken, I meant to suggest that he has got the name Ross Hannah from somewhere and the only realistic place he has got is from his buddy on the inside. If this particular buddy has gone to the trouble to pass concrete information to Dave, the deal is as good as done.
As SG has said above, everybody just be cool and this will come off, PB and the board are not going to lose this chap for the sake if a couple of grand or a months loan back to Matlock Town.

Matt.

Got a feeling that the only way that this one is going to happen now is if we have got the lad signed on a pre contract agreement to join us in the summer. I may be wrong but my hunch is that the deal may have stalled because Matlock quoted us silly money for a player that is only theirs for another couple of months and then he is free to walk. I can understand their position though as with him (Hannah) in their team they have every chance of the play offs and a chance to win promotion to the Blue Square North (meaning bigger gates, more money etc) and clearly they have a better chance of doing that with Hannah in the team than not.

In the meantime we have turned to young Murray to see us through to the end of the season .... hopefully Hannah will be ours in July and we won't have had to pay a fee for him.

What da ya reckon SG?

In the meantime it will be interesting to see how he gets on tonight .... I will be keeping a close eye on Whitby Town v Matlock tonight for any score updates (never thought I would be doing that!!!!!) whilst watching Spurs v AC Milan on the box, of course! :~D

I'm guessing that the signing of ronan means this one's off for the time being? Would love to see Ross sign for us though, maybe in the summer?

If he'd scored another 48 goals tonight then we should be worried as the mighty Northampton Town might snatch him off us!

Looks like a very good prospect and I hope we can get him in the summer. I fear there will probably be a bidding war if he is on a free though and his goalscoring record will definitely have caught some glances. If the deal has completely fallen though, I wouldn't be so confident about getting him in the summer.

I personally feel that we should try our hardest to agree a fee. Matlock would be very, very foolish to sniff at money they otherwise wouldn't get, as he'll go on a free in May. As Cambgull says, miss out now, face less chance of getting him on a free. I'm sure there'll be some other clubs looking now we've shown our interest. Would not surprise me to see other L2 teams/top BSP clubs looking at him now, so we should try our very best to get him now for a fee of around £20k and give them a sell on clause.

Then if his career flies, Matlock receive a big amount of money in future..

Thats IF he doesn't resign with Matlock again as i'm sure at the end of last season there was plenty of offers to take him to clubs higher up the levels and he stayed so it will be an interesting few months for sure.

Oh come on. Loyalty is fast running out in football these days. This is possibly the best time for him to move on, further his career. I'll be dead honest, I hadn't heard of Matlock Town before this came up (no disrespect). I'm sure someone who could have so much potential would want to stay virtually unknown. He'll get more money, play infront of more people, be on a bigger stage, be in a better place of the country ( ;-) ), etc. Moving would be much better for what could be a very promising career, instead of restricting himself to that sort of level.

Matlock would have to be a very, very special place for him, for him to stay, or he is unambitious and doesn't believe in his potential talent.

Well, I would of said the exact same thing last year but he did stay and the fans love him for that and theres a very very slim chance he might do again but i wouldn't fault the lad for wanting to climb the football pyramid and i think if anything did happen then he has all the tools to be a goal scorer as he just has bags and bags of pace but the leap up to full time football is a big one and i think Matlock should hold out for a good sized amount of cash before agreeing to let him speak to anybody which appears to be what they are doing.

Right now everything is just rumour apart from that Torquay put a bid in and it was rejected and now you have brought in another striker then it wouldn't surprised me if you abandoned a move for Hannah all together but we shall see.

Or if he's settled in a good job. A successful business or trade person is going to make more than a L2 footballer, before you factor in pretty decent part time wages from Matlock or another part-time side. Kenny Deuchar was famously a doctor whilst playing part-time for Gretna.

At 24 this is probably going to be his last chance to make it as a professional though, and you'd imagine that's what his ambition is.

It's disappointing the deal hasn't gone through yet, and with the signing of Murray it looks unlikely to happen. Hopefully the deal isn't dead and something happens either now or in the summer.

Apparently Matlock want 50K for him which is a rumour I heard on another forum I'm on same one which said about Chesterfield fans wanting them to try and get him.

Personally i'd want more than that for Hannah maybe even double or triple it as he is that valuable to Matlock.
