Match abandoned after 53 minutes when our last ball sails over Babbacombe Downs and drifts off towards France ;-)

Personally, I hope the game will be called off. Nothing spoils a game more, or makes the result more unpredictable, than gale force winds ...... like today.

I'm of the same opinion. Starting to get very stormy here on the coast of East Devon, rain and wind, so don't fancy the drive, especially. Particularly if it ends up being called off.

I agree with hector, but I'd like to go to a game.

From the o/s:
Pitch Inspection Failed

TODAY’S game with Bury at Plainmoor has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Referee Dave Phillips carried out his first inspection at 9am and then looked again at midday, deciding the surface was not safe for the players.

The groundstaff at Plainmoor have worked tirelessly to improve the main problems areas but the pitch was deemed too wet by the officials.

For those of you with a belly that still needs filling, the carvery in our No.10s Restaurant will be open until 2.30pm on Saturday, with a delicious roast dinner available for just a fiver.

UNBELIEVABLE. IF THE PITCH WAS UNPLAYABLE AT 12:20, THEN THERE IS NO WAY IT WAS PLAYABLE AT 9AM. THE CAPS ARE DUE TO MY RAGE AT THE MOMENT. THE REFEREE SHOULD BE MADE TO EXPLAIN, ON CAMERA, HOW HE HAS COME TO THAT DECISION AND BE QUIZZED ON IT BY ONE OF THE JOURNALISTS.

ABSOLUTE JOKE

Not the club at fault here as far as I'm concerned, this is all with the referee.

I tell you what i think, the officials are stupid, what significantly changed between the early inspection to the midday one. Nothing, a couple of showers maybe.
No blame on the club, but it should have been called off yesterday. We need a consistent spell of dry weather.

Very disappointed!

It's hardly rained all morning if it was playable at 9 and not at 1230 that's crazy as it's not been heavy rainfall at all

Don't see why people are angry. It's just one of those things. The ref had to give the game a chance to be played. Sadly it couldn't be.

It was in the club's best interests to get the match on, and when the referee failed to call it off at 9am it gave us a glimmer of hope that perhaps was not ever there.

There needs to be clear instructions and/ or protocol introduced by the Football League in order to stop these situations occurring. There has to be a universally accepted cut-off point whereby the match gets postponed, i would suggest 24 hours before kick off. This would stop these situations where fans and clubs are needlessly wasting time and money.

Its a massive shame, and everyone has lost out today. But it isn't the club's fault. The referee took an hour to make a decision at 9am, that should tell you he was never sure. It was always his call and his actions have made our club look amateurish.

Personally I think it's an absolute disgrace from the referee. You cant tell me that the pitch changed between 9am and 12pm to then make a 100% decision, in fact, the weather improved! A decision should have been made at 9am and that is the bottom line.

Secondly, I think that our communications were poor. We all got the news from other sources then ten minutes later we get an update on our official twitter account. It's not good enough.

I feel for all the Bury fans that made the journey down and I hope you have a safe journey home. We need to call Tuesday off as soon as we can if the weather has a turn for the worse again. It is not fair on the away fans and it is not fair on the home fans who have made plans for a match day.
