It is a sad day if is seen as realistic to claim that we will NEVER be a League team again. I am all for realism, but without hope then we may as well give up.

Steve is an excellent match summariser (though I can't abide the way he delivers his commentaries), but I think he's being unduly pessimistic and negative here..

it is how you spend your money, wasting our budget on players like Hawley have cost us this season
This summer is key, we need to recruit well, if we can, we can challenge!

think we'll be hanging around the playoffs next season, providing we ditch hawley, nicho etc. however if we are not up in two years, then Steve's comments will prove to be pretty accurate!

right firstly teeboo is steve breed so ile get that one out of the way b4 I start
the interview that has been posted on the bbc today was taken 15 minuets after the end of the Dagenham game
now I would ask how everybody felt that night we had just been beaten by a dreadful Dagenham side and virtually guaranteed away trips at the likes of mighty welling and Braintree next season.. I was angry upset and quite frankly disgusted that the club that I hold so dear to my heart had slipped so meakly and without fight into the skrill premier... Yes I was angry as I was walking out of the ground I was accosted to do an interview for the bbc and that is the interview that has been posted today.. Since then I have done 3 other live interviews with radio devon b4 and after the Exeter game and b4 the Mansfield game all of which I have tried to put as positive a spin as I possibly could.. On sat I stood there proud as punch as my team ripped into Mansfield and could have won by far more than 3 1 at the end I clapped my club said well done to chris Hargreaves that did not stop me sheading a tear and feeling bloody angry that after 5 years we have ended up back in doldrums again only this time its not with a new manager new board its with the same manager same board and probably the same players who have slipped meakly into the skrill prem.. do we remember the feeling of going down leaving the ground against Hereford after the nil nil draw I felt terrible then going to the grays game with 4000 people and everything feeling kinda new new manager new payers new board new club now that was a good feeling... Its a pitty that not all my interview was put up there just a few snippits which of course paint me in a poor light I .e the comment about Hargreaves struggling well b4 the Exeter game ime afraid there where some calling for his head.. so ime sorry if what I said offended people but as my head gets shoved above the parapet many times for me being a regular on radio or contributor to the local paper you cant please everybody... for the record though ive been asked 3 times today to do other interviews for telly and rado guess what I said bloody no...

It's frustration I guess teeboo (Steve) and anger and if someone had of collared me for an interview at the end of the two home games i've been to this season (Accy & Newport) I'd have probably shoved the mic right up their arse! So to be fair it's reaction to a poor loss (Dagenham) of which there have been many, and a sequence of events which have needlessly resulted in our relegation. I think any fair minded fan would have been angry and pessimistic about the future. No need to explain teeboo (Steve). I do agree in part with what you say about us struggling to ever regain our league status - I do believe we may get in the play offs now and again and then it's a lottery but for automatic then forget it. There may be a few seasons of underachievement which is inevitable and we just have to hope that that underachievement is such that it doesn't result in further relegation or I DO reckon that would be curtains for the club but I am a bit more optimistic for next season after going to Field Mill.
The Mansfield game was the only game I've seen under Hargreaves which restored some pride and hope back in my body for the fight next season. Admittedly I've only seen 7 games under him and missed all the other wins but on Saturday, even for allowing they had 10 men for a large part of the game we looked a different side.
Someone I go and 'see' asked me what motivation was and I said it was a goal in life, an ambition or an ideal which you want to achieve and that makes you go out and do something positive. She said WRONG!
She said that motivation was achieved by first going out and doing something initially even though it may be difficult and you may not be 'motivated' at all to do it, like getting out of bed and going to gym or trying to win a football match when you've lost 10 on the spin. Then what happens is that the more you do it the more motivated you become to continue it and he more improvement, confidence and results you see and then it becomes second nature.
That could explain a little why teams go on runs of good form and poor form and where the 'winning mentality' comes from. We've never had it this season and failed to string any sort of run together. Most other teams at the bottom have had a run at some point, Accy won about 6 on the bounce I think earlier on and Bury have pulled away. Our run has come these last 2 weeks and it has been too late sadly but I've seen positive signs that we'll be ok next for season and that's all we have to go on for now.
We'll see who CH picks up over the summer and what state were in come the start of the season but I'm under no illusions. A tilt at a play off spot would be great, mid table with some good footy for once ok, winning the league - impossible.
I know you won't get too wound up by others criticisms teeboo (Steve) as you don't seem that sort of bloke to me but just try and ignore them anyway. There are some fans who having just seen us relegated now think we are just going to stroll it next season and anyone disagreeing is 'negative'. It is realism like Gullno4 says. They are entitled to their opinion but at the end of the day we have a rookie manager with no experience of assembling a squad of his own, under pressure to not only deliver results, competitive and attractive football on a budget but also to stop the rot and lift Plainmoor all on his own. If he delivers this lot next season then he really is bloody Jesus! o:)
Anyway Steve, never had you down as teeboo. You don't look like a teeboo. (no offence :~D ). I had in my head a picture of a teeboo and it didn't look like you! (again no offence =D ).
Oh and echo those sentiments about Thea, Danny. Club legend shouldn't be a term just bandied about for players and managers.

Well the answer is if you know you are going to be quoted in the press then be careful what you say in the first place. No point in complaining about it afterwards. Anyway you are probably right in what you said the manager has been struggling badly so no need to apologise for it.

Why? Surely the point is to give an honest and passionate view, not one that has been heavily sanitised and mulled over for hours so that it is 'media friendly'. That's the problem with football nowadays. No characters. They're all thinking so much about what to say that none of it comes with emotion or from the heart and then when they do release statements I wished they hadn't of friggin' bothered.
Steve did say that they omitted some of the other presumably more positive stuff from the interview and they appear to have used his comments as a clear negative, ill thought out comparison to the others more seemingly reasoned and balanced responses which is unfair.
The evidence is there in black and white for all to see. Knill and now Hargreaves combined for a whole season and we have been statistically the worst side in the division resulting in our relegation. It's negative but it's reality.
