Defenders will hardly ever win awards like this, just because it's impossible to make a highlights reel to show with the nominations. They can show Le Fondre's goals with about 2 minutes of work, but you can't create highlights for Ellis in the same way. Not to mention that no-one has seen all the players play regularly, so are basing the decision on reputation, media attention and pure stats. If we had reached 1000 mins or set a FL record, then there'd have been a good talking point for the voicever guy to make and he would probably have won it.
