Terrible. They have tried to dress up their attempt to sell the club to their foreign counterparts (red holds major significance over there, i think) and pretend that they are making the club more Welsh by changing the club's colours.

Once again the businessmen at the top of the club don't understand the game.

Yes, but our club did rebrand though, didn't we use to play in black and white stripes, and have the nickname "the magpies"

And then change to yellow and blue, and became known as "thegulls" to be more reflective of our seaside location.

Cardiff fan's must be sick to the core with Swansea not just in the premier league but doing well, I am sure they wont complain if they have change to red to secure a multi-million pound investment , that will no doubt help their club join Swansea in the premier league.

This reminds me of SV Austria Salzburg, now known as Red Bull Salzburg after a corporate takeover. Their badge was changed, their kit was changed, their stadium name was changed, everything about the club changed and it's identity was erased. In fact after the takeover Red Bull declared "this is a new club with no history." It's no wonder fans of the club were outraged and decided to form their own club.

It's disgusting when this sort of thing happens.

Stoke Gull, i am all too familiar with this story being of Austrian heritage and a former fan of what was then SV Casino Salzburg ( played in purple and known as the violets ). I made a concious decision to support the newly formed club of FC RED BULL SALZBURG ( or FC SALZBURG ) and they moved to the Wals siezenheim area and the Bull Arena whilst the old Salzburg reformed and are now known as Austria Salzburg. I have numerous tattoos on my person representing my allegiance to the newly formed RED BULL SALZBURG and proud and happy that i made the right decision. Austrian football is completely different to English football and even the big clubs are shit as is my national team. They couldn't score even if they played with a million balls at once! 'Die Bullen' or 'the bulls' are my team now and although the takeover has provided us with more bundesliga titles and opportunities to qualify for the champions league ( which we totally screw up every time ) i regret the branding of red bull and their attachment to everything at the club including the clubs name. Clubs in Austria regularly fold, rebrand and pop up time and time again. It's the way it is. The sad thing about Austria Salzburg is they will never achieve the heights of their more illustrious counterparts but i give their fans immense credit for standing up for what they believe in. Cheers Stoke Gull for allowing me to talk Austrian football for a short time, it has been most refreshing.

Austrian if ever you feel the need to blog bout your home lands teams please do. I have a massive interest in global football and would find it an interesting read.

As for the rebranding of clubs its happened through the years and will continue to happen as teams and football evolves. Its a cyclic thing I suppose. Most clubs have changed things as times have gone by. Im sure when it happens the current fans affected dont like it but as long as its beneficial for the long term future then fans will accept it. For example the fuss newcastle fans kicked up with 'stadium re-naming' is now long forgotten.

Just another nail in the coffin of football, I'm very much afraid. Yet another move motivated entirely by money. When will teams realise that this relentless pursuit of the infernal Premier League is what will ultimately kill the game and leave them with nothing? Only 24 (I think) teams can be in the Premier League every year, and of that, only 21 may remain the following season, it REALLY isn't worth spunking tens or even hundreds of millions of pounds on. Tell me you're more entertained by the dross served up week in and week out by Aston Villa, West Brom and Stoke City than you are by being at Plainmoor. tell me you'd rather have 60,000 plastics than 3000 genuine, hardcore supporters. Tell me you'd rather pay £50 for a ticket than £13. Tell me you'd rather have any old Tom, Dick or Harry giving it all the bollocks about the team's performance, the manager's tactics, the quality of the pies etc without ever having come within 500 miles of the ground.
It's all shit, nothing good comes from being in the Premier League, certainly nothing worth the money it takes to get there and stay there. Where is the fun in spending countless billions on transfer fees and wages, only to see them finish 19th? Is it not much nicer to spend 50p and be hugely surprised and delighted when you do well?
I'd be bored just being a Swindon fan this year, they've spent so much money, they simply couldn't fail to win the league and how boring must that be? It's like knowing the ending of a movie before you see it: 'Oh yeah, and at the end, the DeLorean gets destroyed by a train, Marty McFly ends up with Jennifer, and Doc Brown and Clara Clayton have two kids, Jules and Verne and spend their days travelling about in a time machine made of steam train" - brilliant, I needn't **** ing bother watching the whole 8 hour box set then...

The more of these stories that come out, the more trophies Manchester City win, the more times Jermaine Pennant assaults a girl, then stacks his car while pissed and just shrugs it off, every time Mario Ballotelli collects a pay cheque, the more and more I despise the Premier League, Sky TV, Rupert Murdoch and top level football in general.

I have it on good authority that every time a young boy chooses a Premier League side over his local club, God stamps on a kitten, you have been warned!
