Pokey not expected to be back in training for some time as thigh tear is still causing major problems and is having scan later in week. Knill thinks tear "is going to take awful long time to repair",according to today's Herald Express.
Looks like we might need to get another keeper on loan in case Ricey's injured and to keep him on his toes form wise.

“He thought he was coming back but in reality the tear is going to take an awful long time to repair,†said the Gulls boss.
Told you all he'd torn it back in pre season. He's tried training since 3 times and has broken down every time, he's gona for another scan today but in all seriousness was trying to do too much too soon.

This is what concerned me about Benyon's appearance on the subs' bench on Saturday, following his bruised brain incident. The pressures on a small squad are understandable, but premature returns, which could send a player back to square one or worse, following bad knocks and injuries, must be avoided as far as possible.royalgull wrote:“He thought he was coming back but in reality the tear is going to take an awful long time to repair,†said the Gulls boss.

i've no idea why they posted the Poke Fit article and tried to pass it off as a bruise or a 'tight' thigh...bizarre really. He'd torn it, hadnt' trained all summer and when he tried to train didn't last 10minutes! Weird scenario all round.

Suspect if it is a long term injury we might have to bring a loan in as cover. Rice has done a fine job thus far but with injury or loss of form we really could be in trouble. Connor Thompson is not at the stage of his development where he is ready for first team football.

Alan Knill happy with both Ricey and Connor Thompson, so I guess thats rules out any loan keeper coming in at this stage.

Must admit to being worried when we started the season with Ricey, but fair play to the lad he has done very little wrong. I don't think having Poke in goal would have made any difference to the results.
Would be massively unfair to bring in a loanee at this stage and, imho, a waste of funds. Lets keep the wages and loan spaces free for when we really need them.
