New Kit New Sponsor !
Totally agree with all you have said Dave. Ok Some people are happy just to stroll up to a match watch it and go home again, fair enough that is their choice. For me though its much more than that. I call it my football family as their is a group of a dozen or so of us who sit close together in Bristows bench that over the years as we have suffered together have built up bond of friendship that enjoys the banter between us but are also concerned if someone is missing or unwell etc. Meeting the friends I have made while going to matches is often more interesting than what is served up on the pitch !! That for me is what makes it a "Club" !!
My dislike of Exeter City has turned in recent years to admiration in the way supporters are treated, respected and have other things on offer as Dave has outlined. So different unfortunately from Plainmoor where supporters are treated as an inconvenience rather than the life blood of the club.
It can be and needs to be so much better than it is at present. Does it really need a change of owner or can the people presently employed by the club actually step up their game and realise that as GJ himself says that "We are in the entertainment business" so in that case make the club customer friendly !!

Radio Devon and the demise of the BBC
Interesting to see this thread resurrected as now we are back down in the NLS what coverage if any will Radio Devon provide next season ? At least with Yeovil in the NLS both of us should still get the occasional mention on the BBC & ITV local TV channels !!

Managers press conference today
GJ might and I say might be able to persuade players like Dawson to sign BUT can anybody see Frank Nouble signing again or Aaron Jarvis or Tom Lapslie ? Can we really get anything more from Asa & Deano ?? That's why I would support a fresh start but lets face it with Edwards and Osborn in charge there was never ever going to be a change as those two wouldn't have a fecking clue who to appoint anyway. That is the very sad truth of it all, So we are left with a management duo who live in Bristol / Cheltenham who get picked up on the way to away games. Doesn't that show commitment !! Nepotism with a chief scout who doesn't scout and more than likely makes player judgements on agents videos rather than investigating exactly what they can or cant do ! Hence we end up with Hanson, Crowe. McGavin, Omar, Marshall, Mensah ( Who ??? !!!). How many loan players something like 20 ? One really great one with Nico Lawrence but JEEZ with have suffered some crap !! A forward from Cardiff ..never played a game !! What was the point of that !! So much mismanagement but he gets to carry on and is rewarded with his FAILURE by keeping his job !! What a fecking shambles at little old cosy Torquay United !

Torquay Utd v York City - Sat 15th April 3pm
So so agree !! I have been ranting about this for years !! The local media doesn't give a flying feck about us never has never will. From the days of Dick Woodacre to Gordon ( how loud can I shout ) Sparkes to bloody Alan fecking Richardson and Natalie Cornah on Spotlight they are always fawning over " Argyle " .......its strange how it reverts to Plymouth Argyle when they lose !!desperado wrote: ↑15 Apr 2023, 19:21 Hard to pick a man of the match , every player outstanding. There were so many people a few months ago saying that Jarvis couldn't finish. Well the bearded wonders got it all, scores in the six yard box , edge of the penalty area , headers, great hold up play, strong, battles like hell, no slouch either. Well done Gary Johnson for spotting him and having faith in him. Not all his signings come off but Jarvis certainly has.
Shame about Aldershots late winner but The Great Escape is still possible.
Does anyone else get pissed off with Radio Devon ? Half an hour drive home for me and not a mention, all yap and interviews about Exeter v Plymouth which I'd already heard on the way to the game as it finished at 2pm ! Then we have to have it all again at 5 !! I know that Vicary is an Exeter fan but he flogs them to death even in a boring mid table season.
They have even started calling their manager " shoe ee " FFS !!!
As the studio they use on Saturday is in Exeter we then have to put up with the " City " love in with Vicary and his minions. They just about give us a couple of minutes often cutting short the bloody interview that they do put on air !!

Well said Nick, totally agree with you.Nick Potkins wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 09:50 I can't believe we are discussing attendances and who has the right to say what. My view is the club is dying, we need to open our eyes and pray for investment and a true five year plan.
It's never been an easy ride supporting Torquay but in 51 years of support I am being realistic and saying that this is the worst I have known it.
It's not just that the team is crap, ONE league win at xmas !! It's the Goebbels like sycophancy of the "media " team and "the Gaffer" pretending how rosy everything is !
The club being totally uncaring and taking what support there is left for granted.
The farce of getting hold of a ticket, I mean for f sake how many are put off by that ! If they cant cope with cash then have bloody card readers at the turnstiles so if a late decision is made then people can still watch the game.
Obstacles are put in peoples way instead of encouraging lapsed and new supporters to come to Plainmoor.
The complete silence from the top as we meekly slink back to the position we were in before CO and his mate got hold of the club.
Is there a future ? Not a good one certainly...
