Torquay v Guiseley 24/04 (PP on 24/3/18)

Well it can get worse, you can buy your season ticket, handover your well earned next season and get relegated again.

It isn't about football, it's about land people, wake up for God's sake. If you want to save this club. Like I do, do something about it!

If 500 turn up for home matches next season that will be OK for Osbourne, he ain't gonna pay any big wages anyway, and if you think he's gonna bank roll a whole season on what would be quality players for nls your barking mad. Also his got his management pals to pay,and they are staying.

If 0 turn up, that's a different story.

I know, I'm wasting my time, but I do have the satisfaction that Osbourne ain't getting any of my money. Not much of one I know.
Yes, exactly this.

Osborne has also shown that when the heat is turned up he comes out with a statement.

He cannot get the ground. The council will have to vote for this and the majority are against it. Perhaps he is hiding his time, trying to demonstrate that he is a suitable owner and custodian of the town’s football club. He cannot demonstrate this is nobody is going anymore and people are protesting and boycotting.

And if none of that works, well then he has his strategy and whilst he owns the club there is nothing any of us can do about it, whether it takes him a year or ten years to get the freehold.

Every penny supporters pay through the gate helps Osborne suck the lifeblood out of our football club. Supporters should have backed TUST when they had the chance.

Well, to be fair, my record for building brand new stadiums is as good as that of Clarke Osborne.

I own the domain names to www.rivierastadium.com and www.rivierastadium.co.uk

I know it's petty and rather futile but they were only 99p.

So was it assumed that Nicholson had the Halifax job? There seemed to be postings from those ‘in the know’ suggesting he had, and that he was going to get a much bigger budget. What led people to think that?

Winston Churchill

We have a battle ahead of us . One that we can’t avoid or
Postpone . There are 2 outcomes possible . We stay up or we get relegated

We have no other option at this time , other than to stick together . No amount of criticism or challenge will help now. What we need to do is this:

1/ We need to INTERRUPT this feeling that we can’t escape , we can , this is a fact . Let’s act on facts and not act on fears . Fear can bring out behaviours that just are not going to help us in this situation. I do understand why some comments that are unhelpful come from a genuine love for the club, but a negative reaction can be just a lack of emotional intelligence that comes from a loss or a fear of losing our status . However , we need to be emotionally intelligent at this critical time and be ruthless with our decisions, planning and execution of our plan with everybody 100% behind the plan . Anybody not behind the plan will need to be removed.
2/ We need to IGNITE every player, coach, administrator, employee of TUFC and every supporter to give confidence and belief to the team and show them how much we want them to win . A team will not win without
a game plan for every game and a confidence and belief .
3/ We need to IMAGINE that we are going to escape until a time when it is mathematically impossible . Currently , it is mathematically possible . We need intellectual, physical and emotional support to go into games and execute whatever game plan will get 3 points . It doesn’t matre how we play, all that matters is 3 points . In diving terms, we don’t need a “twist” or a “pike” if a
“Bombing” will win the game .
4/ We need to make the right IMPACT and have the positive IMPACT both on and off the pitch .
We all have a choice whether to contribute a positive or a negative IMPACT .
I choose to have a positive one , because only positivity will get the result I know WE ALL REALLY WANT.
Together we are strong .
Don’t tell us what we need to do to be considered a fan of TUFC.

Don’t tell us to support the malevolent forces that are this club's undoing.

As for a game plan, Owers is out of his depth. A manager doesn’t have such a spectacularly unsuccessful managerial career for no reason.

That’s the one thing that bothers you?

Does it really matter?

If he did, all he’d get is abuse anyway. The bloke is clueless and out of his depth and hopefully he will be gone soon. I don’t really care whether he comes over and claps supporters.

The whole clapping after the game is ridiculous. I was more bothered by the numpties on the Pop Side who clapped the team off after that. How can anyone applaud what we saw yesterday?

I hope Nicholson does get the Halifax job, if even only to shut this debate down once and for all. On paper his managerial record at Torquay was more than sackable and his popularity was more about who he was than for his success as a manager. But the context behind his time as manager will probably need some examination once the club historians of the future (if there is a club) look back on his time here.

I heard he had written a book and it would be useful to actually read it but in the meantime, if he is approximated at The Shay, then I would like to see him do well. He is a decent bloke, and whilst I thought his departure, after the Boreham Wood debacle, was correct, it was also sad in some ways. Owers, with an improved budget - probably in the shape of loans that GI will use to cripple us at some point - has not been any better, possibly even worse.

If he has a decent budget, then it will be interesting to see how he does and then the excuses of his time here will be irrelevant. I’m not hoping he fails - I’d like him to do well, as long it is not at our expense and if he is appointed, then I wish him luck.

Attendances and the next generation of fans

My first season as a regular was as a 10 year old during the 79/80 season. Mike Green was the manager and he had assembled a very exciting team with the likes Steve Cooper/Les Lawrence up front, Donal Murphy, Tommy Sermanni, Peter Coffill, John Turner etc and for the first part of that season we were challenging for promotion with the likes of Portsmouth, Huddersfield, Walsall. We were alsmot unbeatable at home, until the new year and games were played on Saturday evenings, with midweek games at 7.30 on Wednesday nights.

I was hooked immediately, and when I cast my mind back, I think of floodlights, the bukta Kit with white shirts and shiny blue shorts the team sported and the excitement I felt as we generally won most of the games. We were pretty decent, so that helped and there is no way the current days are going to encourage youngsters to get hooked because everything is so depressing. As it turned out, 79/80 flopped. New Years Day saw us win 2-1 at Bournemouth and then we failed to win in any of the next 15 games but up until the Christmas period, it was amazing, including two titanic cup ties with Swindon, who then drew Tottenham.

From the 1980s onwards until 2013, we have had a mixture of poor and good seasons but enough to sustain interest of the core 2500 but nothing will change now until the fortunes on the field do.

Jim Parker Herald Express

There is a fascinating account of Clarke Osborne’s various business interests and history on BTPIR, unearthed by Haldon Rambler and I read it thinking how a supporter with access to the internet has found information accessible in the public domain and simply used it to ask questions.

This information is out there. It is an absolute disgrace that Jim Parker and David Thomas can not get off their smug, lazy arses to find out the same information and ask the same questions. It’s a a dereliction of duty to the community they profess to speak for. But they don’t speak for the community at all, do they? They speak for vested interests, the local hobnobs and to not rock the boat in their little cosy world.

The fact that information is easily accessible, regarding Clarke Osborne’s dubious record when it comes to building stadiums, and the Herald WILL NOT PRINT, suggests something a little underhand. The implication they peddle that fans are only worried because of what is happening on the pitch, is an insult to the intelligence of supporters and is a smokescreen to the very real dangers facing this club under the ownership of Clarke Osborne.

Regarding David Phillips, well, whilst I would not want to see any man with modest means lose such a significant sum, he played his part in this. He could have really pushed the community ownership option and if fans thought that was all that was on offer, then I suspect as you see at any other football club, they would have got behind it but Phillips blocked that option, messed TUST about and led them a merry dance. Who knows, perhaps he could have saved his £46k had he been more open to TUST.

GET Gary Owers, Martin Khul & Geoff Harrop OUT NOW

Whilst not wishing really to go down the legend route, I wonder at times, whether we made the wrong man manager when Hargreaves was appointed with Lee Hodges as assistant. Hodges has twice done a good job with Truro, in the same way Tully has and I'd probably settle for Hodges as manager when we went down.

Jim Parker can try and rattle some cages when his mates in the council ask him to. See this for example: http://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-new ... ke-1084719 (apologies to Ding Dong, as I see he has already linked this)

Yet, if he cannot see there is something really quite appalling happening at the town’s football club, then how on earth has he stole a living for the god knows how long he has been masquerading as a journalist at the pamphlet and voice-piece for those with a bit of clout? Thomas and Parker, are cowards.

(Target Number One: To get out of the National League!!)
So when the idea of a five year plan was announced in December 2016, they have done so well that it has only taken them 13 months - so more than year 1 of the 5 years - to come up with a bloody draft version of the plan. You couldn’t make it up.

At this rate, it’s going to take them 5 years to actually come up with the 5 year plan. Strikes of incompetence but the reality is they know exactly what they are doing. I’m sure they think the collective of thick Torquay fans will glibly go along with the 5 year plan nonsense.
