Surely there can be no chance it would be Mansell. I'd imagine GI would wnat someone new to the club, who doesn't have links to the fanbase. Also, Mansell is Nicho's best mate, I can't see him running to jump in Kev's grave.

Though it didn't initially fill me with optimism, it actually does sound like quite a shrewd choice if true. How do you know he was in the Torquay area?Nick Potkins wrote: ↑22 Aug 2017, 13:32 Wilkinson was in the Torquay area two days back - or so it would appear!

Torquay United vs Boreham Wood predictions
I agree, especially given that Reidy and Lee are out, and Haworth not yet fit, i'd go the same as tranmere
Clarke
Higgins--McGinty--Anderson--Chaney
Kuklowski--Lathrope--Young
Gosling
Gray--Pittman
Giving us Harworth and Keating to chuck on if needs be.

Liam Davis New Left Back
An opinions an opinion, and there's probaby something in both of your points. I think it's a bit harsh to say that his strength is almost null, and for what it's worth he looks a decent young full-back. He was far better on the wing however, and as a winger very good defensively, clapped off on the last game of the season for relentlessy coming back and making some crunching tackles to cover Gallifuoco.
As such if we went 4-4-2 I think he'd be a good bet on either wing, to cover either Chaney or Higgins. Against Norwood and co. they're going to bloody need it!

Plymouth Parkway
It was a good game to watch actually. Bolitho Park is a nice little ground, and Parkway were up for it from the off, the tackles flying in all over the pitch; Tallan Mitchell was absolutely clattered in the first minute, they obviously decided to stick one on him early. There didn't seem to be a huge amount of Gulls who had made the trip, we were next to some Parkway fans, who instantly pointed out Austen Booth (Torquay triallist), who had been on loan there from Truro towards the tail end of last season. He stood out as one of our better players; good on the ball, composed for a young defender, and agressive in the air and in the tackle. Sam Chaney also stood out in a wide attacking role, taking people on and moving the ball quickly. I heard a few Parkway supporters at half time name him as the best player on the park.
Despite Parkway's spirited battling, Torquay started to gain the upper hand, a few successive chances culminating in a through ball leaving Reid one on one with their keeper. All he had to do was make some kind of contact with the ball to score, but instead tried a trick to take it around the keeper, forgetting to take the ball with him as he did so. Parkway were a goal up from the resulting play. Quick distribution by their keeper was followed by a few simple passes up the pitch which sliced us apart, a diagonal ball put their striker in on goal, and he wrong footed Osborn with a soft shot.
Special mention in the first half goes to Rory Fallon, who did almost nothing. Even when he won the ball in the air his headers were tame, looping, off target etc. He's never been blessed with pace, but on one occasion when the ball was played for him to turn and run onto, he was beaten to it by a couple of players from either side, all of whom he had a considerable head start on. If we take him on after that showing it will be through desperation alone.
The second half saw us bring on 4 or 5 of our first 11, but was killed by Parkway solidly protecting their lead. We looked short of ideas up top, and didn't even play a single ball in behind, having brought on Pittman for Fallon. We found ourselves level in the last minute of the game, with a really clever set piece, played along the floor around the outside (left) of the wall, Pittman got there first, put a cross in with his first touch, and Gowling headed home from the edge of the six yard box. A fair result all round, and we looked good up until the final third, where a lack of cutting edge still seems to be our biggest vice.

TRIALISTS
I think it's a bit harsh to criticise Nicholson for fielding trialist sides in our first couple of games, it's a necessary evil, and I couldn't give a shit whether we lost 10 | 0 if it meant that we unearthed a decent signing. Despite some dross there were a couple of guys in there worth considering, and by the look of the chat Nicho and Herrera were having they were indeed considering them. It would have been nice to see some of our signings come off of the bench, but it was described on the website as a trial game, and the fans who went out there knew that. I didn't speak to anyone at the game who seemed annoyed about this.
Regarding Mike Fondop, Nicho has every right to judge him by his attitude, as well as his play. People saying that he's criticising this based solely on him squaring up to a Newton Spurs player have a one dimensional view. He trained with us all last week, and so Nicho had far more than this one event to consider. His attitude does actually sound poor, just googling his name brings up

There's no point being overly happy clappy, but think considering some of the promising signings we've made, labeling Nicho as a disgrace is a bit harsh. Maybe he shouldn't have brought on the kit man, but I'm sure he'd already made up his mind by that point.

Actually even better than the new kits is Youngy's facial expressions in the photos! That's got to be worth a caption competition.

The New Kit and Sponsor !!
I Agree, and think it's far better than the bespoke piece of crap I bought last year, which has thread coming out of everywhere and a ridiculous flappy collar. Probably is a lazy choice, but with the smart looking sponsor logo, and even smarter club badge, will mean that we will look like a professional team home and away this season. Could have been far worse!
