Torquay United v Chelmsford City - 9th Feb 2019
No bar in the away end. It's a hip flask in the pants situation.
You'll be welcome in Boots & Laces, but if you're eating/drinking before the game as a group do it on the harbour and then grab a taxi up to the ground. Should cost between £5 and £7 from the rank, probably a little cheaper if you call 01803 211 611.

Woking Loanees
Woking have lost two of their better players in the last week or so. Jamar Loza was recalled by Maidstone and then instantly sent back out to Billericay, and Toby Edser has been recalled by Notts Forest, and now is training with Macclesfield.
They may well be able to replace them with other players of equal quality, but the rumour is that their FA Cup winnings have been squirrelled away for the medium-long term (given the past few years here probably a wise decision!) with minimial funds being immediately available to boost the squad.
They currently have their standout player Max Kretschmar injured as well, with the St. Albans game looking a bit too soon for him. Not huge news, but encouraging nonetheless. We will have a tough game at Bath, but if we can come away with the points and Woking don't manage a win on the road, the table could look a lot more appealing tomorrow evening.

Torquay United v Slough Town - 5th January 2019
You say that about Andrews, and yet if you watch him in the aftermath of the first goal he slaps the face of an injured Slough player on his way past.
Given that the ref gave a red to Harris that's probably worth at least a yellow if he sees it, and so is a little bit stupid. Having said that he got away with it, and I quite like the way we wind up the opposition at the moment; everyone else tries it on us. Plainmoor has definitely become a horrible place to come under Johnson, long may that be the case!

Dulwich Hamlet
Bit of a shame that we don't have Dulwich later in the season when the weather's better, but hopefully they should still bring a few down when they visit in February. It's great to see a club at this level with such a distinct personality and culture, seems like a proper community which is exactly what a local team should be.
Yeah they might have a hipster fan base, but if there's two things I can talk about all day it's football and craft beer. Advice to Dulwich fans on their travels next year, bring a supply down! Torquay's not known for decent beer, although Bay's Devon Dumpling might see you through.

Travelling
As far from the ground as possible. The club is advising that no vehicles should be left in close proximity to the club on Saturday because your son is on fire.

I thought that their manager said in his preview that Robinson was back and good to go?

CO is confusing me!
I do feel that there could still be some wheeling and dealing going on. As far as I know, Harrop handed in his notice, rather than being removed.
I worry about sustainability. That's initially what CO claimed as his mantra, and yet we must be spending more than in recent times, with less revenue streams than ever before pulling in income. All this splashing of the cash by CO may look like investment or benevolence, but in reality the club must now owe him a considerable amount of money, leaving us in a precarious position given his track record. If he found a shady way to make a quick buck and escape he'd do it without any second thought.

Harrop Has Left The Building
I'm going to be unpopular here, but I knew Geoff reasonably well, and his endeavours as head of our academy a few years ago got my younger brother his dream move to Southampton FC (Making Tufc £000's in the process).
I'm not questioning anybody elses opinion here, merely stating that the Geoff I knew was a lovely, sensitive and hard working guy who was extremely well regarded in youth football at his previous clubs (Yeovil and Peterborough), and who did several young TUFC players justice by finding them moves to bigger clubs.
I distrust CO as much as the next man, and my compliments certainly don't extend that far. I do honestly believe however that Geoff thought that he was doing good for the club in bringing CO on board, obviously whether or not that is the case remains to be seen. Contrary to what some people seem to think, Geoff has not had anything to do with the football side of TUFC in his role as general manager. Last time I spoke to him, he was taking a lot of flak, and was isolated at the helm of our club, with CO hiding in the shadows rather than protecting Geoff and denouncing some of the misinformation that's been floating around.
Gary Owers was not Harrop's choice. Instead as has previously been reported on here and BTPIR, Harrop's man was actually Ronnie Moore, who came down to watch a game at Plainmoor before Osborn went over his head and went with Owers instead. Owers and Geoff had very little to do with one another, and to the best of my knowledge didn't get on at all.
In the face of some pretty disgusting and widespread abuse, Geoff seemed pretty depressed the last time I saw him, and was pining to get back to youth football where his passion (and talent) lies. Him and GJ are actually quite good friends, having worked together at Yeovil, and so that has not have any part in Geoff's departure.

FA Cup
Plainmoor was lively in the league game, but buoyed by a few wins since could see a further increase in attendance and volume. I wasn't saying that it was an unreasonable reaction from the Woking management Parky's, just highlighting that I think they'll be some trepidation in their camp.
Our team are flying and our fans are loud. Bring a mate, double the gate. It would be great to see the Popside in full voice and make Plainmoor feel like Hell to anyone in red and white.
