Torquay United v Stockport 30/11/19

dawlishmatt wrote: 30 Nov 2019, 21:29 At plainmoor I met a lovely couple from Accrington who are Stockport county supporters and they and my two grandsons watched the match together. Afterwards we went to the Premier Inn at Newton Abbot racecourse and had a lovely meal. The couple from Accrington are staying at the pub for 3 nights. This evening we've all been having a great laugh at your comments, and my youngest grandson who's 9 years old now has a new name to call me.. Our new friends think, having read yours and other people's comments, that it's so sad that because you disagree with certain comments that me and others post, that you have to resort to insults. They can't believe that we share the same thing, our love for Torquay United football club.
I'd be quite worried if a random football supporter latched onto me at a game then followed me back to my hotel to show me their clubs fans forum site.

The lowest of the low

I have a new low point.

Listening to the first minute of that god awful song by Roar Loven on the HE website. Absolutely embarrassing.

The lowest of the low

Lowest point for me was the end of last season, walking out of Plainmoor for the last time as a ST holder and deciding that enough of my time had been wasted watching pitiful displays.

Opi Edwards looks lively but nobody else seems alert to his movement and possibility of receiving the ball from him.

brucie wrote: 27 Aug 2018, 18:50 Burnhamgull - Are you seriously condoning criminal conduct. Throwing a substance over a person in that manner is an offence contrary to Section 4 of the Public Order Act.

Whatever your opinion of the manager there is no justification in that sort of behaviour. No wonder the club is in such a state with twats like you making postings like that.
You're absolutely right. criminal acts should not be tolerated but it's interesting how much the fans tolerate the shambles at Plainmoor.

We should all unite behind Owers. It's like he said, the tide must turn soon so lets all turn up at Plainmoor and give Reid and co our complete support for 90+ minutes.

Hurrah!

york_gull wrote: 27 Aug 2018, 19:08 No clear game plan, no drive or determination, no end product. The frustration of watching their pint sized keeper collect every throw or cross was unbearable.

Owners must go, the atmosphere was toxic today, and that showed at the end the way fans were confronting him. We need someone to get behind and that for sure isn't him. I just fear the shortlist of applicants would be very slim....
I disagree, I think the list of applicants would be long............but the quality would be slim.

Let's face it, anyone new coming in can only do better. They get the immediate support of a dwindling fanbase, a couple of decent performances and suddenly everybody is back onboard.

It's all about whether Osborne is happy with the current situation. I fear he is.

Your words hurt me.....perhaps we can sit down and discuss it nicely over a cup of tea. I'll sit down, smile nicely and then walk away inwardly laughing at how you feel content with the discussion we've had.

Isn't this how Osborne has dealt with the Trust?

TIME FOR ACTION BUT IT MUST BE LAWFUL.

midtable wrote: 27 Aug 2018, 04:40 If you really want to annoy Clarke Osborne then politely complain at his front door, at his favourite bar and even sit at a nearby table in a restaurant because otherwise why would he care? If fans do or don't turn up at Plainmoor then it is small change compared to a multi-million pound housing development. As for moaning about Harrop why bother as he is just an employee and it suits Osborne for people's anger to be be directed elsewhere. He could leave tomorrow and somebody else with the same instructions will arrive the next day. You don't go into Wetherspoons and berate the manager about the price of beer because he has no control over it. I reckon Harrop for all his faults is just a paid employee and consequently does what he is told.
So how to complain? Visit Mr Osborne but if that does not suit your lifestyle then maybe join Torquay United Supporters Trust, so if their membership is really high it will demonstrate that people are unhappy.
I suggested a trip to Chew Magna ( I think that's where he lives) a few months ago but nobody was interested because it means leaving Devon. I agree with what you're saying, knock on his door at 11pm, fill his local pub but don't buy drinks, piss off his neighbours, make him feel uncomfortable.

Boosting membership of the Trust will do nothing because Osborne will not feel threatened by another 50 people paying £2 per month to a fan club.

Despite the lame performances, despite the lack of goals, despite the clearly apparent piss take from the owner and the lack of ability of the manager..................how many will still turn up at the next home game?

I still think 1400-1600 will be there paying and clapping at the end.

To those who threw the beer, I say well done. To anybody who threw some abuse towards Owers, I say well done. To all those who would like to sit down and have a rational discussion with the owner and his management team, I say good luck to you but you're being laughed at.

Southampton Gull wrote: 26 Aug 2018, 22:25 Personally agree with you BUT we are public so do have to ecercise a little caution.

I've said it before, if Osborne can shaft a fan base like Bristol Rovers have, what chance do we have? Kind of defeatist but I said this when Osborne took over and it's proving to be very true. We've never been a militant set of fans, I don't think we ever will be.
and Osborne knows this so he knows he can keep GO in charge until it becomes really untenable.......I don't think we're there yet. I wouldn't be surprised if we won tomorrow and that buys GO a few more weeks.

The fans will moan, but not swear, whilst sipping their cups of tea and will reminicse about better times.

I just wish everybody would stay away one Saturday and watch a local game. Plainmoor with less than 100 people inside would send a strong message. Do it for a second home game and Osborne would start to take notice. Do it for a third and the alarm bells would really start ringing.

Think how angry you all get when you witness a poor display and just imagine how much more relaxed we'd all be if we did something else. I went to watch Argye yesterday. There was a time when I would never ever dream of going elsewhere while United were home but times have changed and whilst I brought no luck whatsoever to the Green Army, I still enjoyed watching the game and not feeling any anxiety over the thrashing dished out by the opposition.

Isn't this part of the problem Dave? The fact that people are upset by a bit of bad language whilst the club is going to the wall should be enough to anger everybody but to be offended by it strikes me as being a little precious.

I despair at the fact that there are threads inviting people to make lawful protests at 1pm............who the hell is at the ground at 1pm to take any notice? Even if the protests took place, how many people are we talking about? Twenty?

Charlton fans threw crisp packets onto the pitch on Saturday. Result = lots of media attention.
Coventry fans boycotted games when they were moved to Northampton. Result = lots of media attention

portugull wrote: 26 Aug 2018, 18:41 Sadly Neal you might be right. If only 800 turn up on Saturday Harrop and Osborne might get the message and act.
I haven't been all season and chose not to renew my ST that I'd held for many years. Alas, I'm very much in a tiny minority of people who are voting with their feet and there's the problem. CO and GH both know that the supporters will continue to go to games and clap and cheer the bollocks served up by the 11 men in the shirt each week. Everybody is complaining about the fact we lost 0-2 to the Three Feathers yesterday but still they'll go to the next home game..............
