Osborne Sells Up..... To Masters?

Dazza wrote: 14 Mar 2018, 19:18 But isn't blind optimism the fodder of football fans the world over. ? Every new season is greeted with sudden hope; every new signing is a season turning moment. If we don't all have ridiculous faith then it's pointless being a supporter! -- and sometimes ( but only very rarely ) it all falls right.
True but I took a break last season and didn't renew the ST. Over the summer, I got sucked in again with the new kit, talk of an academy and the signing spree. I bought a ST and have not enjoyed many, if any, of my afternoons in Plainmoor. Next year I'll be exercising my right to stay away again.

You can't expect to continue delivering a shit product and expect people to stay loyal.

Osborne Sells Up..... To Masters?

The trouble now is that fans are so desparate for improvement that they'll jump on anything.
A comment from Dave about a buyout and everybody is clinging onto it thinking it's a done deal.
A win at Orient and everybody starts believing we'll stay up. Last night on twitter was ridiculous by the way.
If Mike Bateson goes for a drive through St.Marychurch tomorrow, god knows what the thread on here would be like.

This poncey attitude of "ooh no I can't support that sort of action, but I do understand how they feel" is just typical of the pathetic attitude amongst some of our fans, we need to hit them hard with our feeling & if it puts a few noses out of joint so be it, I'm totally fecked off with this tune we play that portrays us as just a small club not important enough to take a stance like the big boys do.
We are a football club with passionate fans who care deeply about their club, just as West Ham are so what's the difference ?
We are a mild mannered, pleasant, nice family oriented, supporter base. That's why we will all stand by and watch Osborne take what he wants and hide behind our keyboards.

Who said anything about protesting?

I'm talking about making his afternoon uncomfortable. Translate that how you like.

West Ham fans might not necessarily have done the right thing today but I bet it has an impact long term. What do we all do? We take to our keyboards......

Teigngull wrote: 10 Mar 2018, 18:29 He wouldn't present himself in front of us, he's a coward a charlatan a fraud he knows nothing about running a football club, we'd get nowhere near him the plastic thugs who think they're the gestapo would see to that. What would work is as soon as the game kicks off everybody get up & leave & congregate out side boots at the officials offices & make our feelings known loud & clear.
And keep doing it until we get what we want, ok Osborne may own the club but at the end of the day Harrop, especially Harrop, Owers, Khul, Hedges are only employees they're not indispensable.
Harrop sits in the directors box, he couldn't ignore us if we were right in front of him.
Leaving the ground (if they opened the gates) and standing on the outside whilst the board are inside facing the pitch would be fruitless unless you think they would hear us?

Or we could take our places in the family stand next home game and confront Harrop..............No? Oh ok then.

Current Form in the National League.

It would be a blow but it also might just bring a few people back down to earth and realise that despite a slight upturn in form, we are far from safe and still very very deep in trouble.

Let's all keep a level head when winning and not get too carried away.

Web Site

I don't see the problem. Who regularly looks at the website and why?

What information do you expect to find that you probably don't already know? I only look for the fixtures, anything else is irrelevant to me.

Attendances and the next generation of fans

Yorkieandy wrote: 04 Feb 2018, 13:35
There is so much other stuff for youngsters to do nowadays so if they aren't hooked by the time they've left school then you've lost. It's not like back when i was a kid when we had no mobile phones, internet, games consoles, playcentres, activity centres, multiplex cinemas etc etc etc. So many more things to do now than spend 90 minutes in the rain watching a shit non league side lose in front of 1,000 and odd fans.
This is the main problem nowadays. I started going regularly in 87 and at that time, there were 4 TV channels, no live football every night and certainly nothing else to occupy my teenage mind. These days, kids spend their lives on social media, hanging around bus shelters or watching Premier League football on SKY/BT. It's not cool to watch Torquay because we're shit and always lose. Kids want to be cool, not ridiculed in the playground every Monday.

The best way to attract fans is to win games.

Win games regularly and you may get promoted back into the football league. Keep winning and you could get to League 1. That brings bigger crowds and clubs with bigger away followings. Stay on that winning streak and suddenly you find yourself on the edge of the Championship, attracting more sponsors and TV companies who want to show one of your games live. Then we start to see a positive viewpoint on national TV and before you know it, Helen Chamberlain is back in touch with the club raving about her support as a blue coat. More wins, attract better players and then you get lucky and you're fighting for a place in the Premier League..............etc etc.

Now come back to reality. We don't win. We lose............regularly, we always have done and sadly I cannot see our club ever matching the achievements of the likes of Bournemouth, Blackpool, Burton, Shrewsbury, Rotherham, Yeovil and others who used to play us in the league but who have all tasted life in the second tier and above in some cases.

Attracting young supporters to our club is one of the biggest challenges we could ever face. Look at how empty the family stand is each week. Watch a game there yourself and when you experience how cold it can be, you'll perhaps see why it's not a fun experience for youngsters and their parents,

Torquay United v Bromley 20/1/18

I imagine MK to be a bit of a cup thrower so my guess is that at half time, most weeks, MK throws a wobbler at the players and tells them how shit they are etc.

With these words ringing in their ears, they leave the dressing room with the thought "**** them and **** this club, I've only got a few weeks before my loan ends"..................and then they underperform even more in the second half.

There is a pattern, looking at recent home performances.

Let's be honest Individually the players aren't that bad , they are all probably conference standard.. So why are we where we are in the league...They are not a team , no leadership either on or off the pitch, no passion , if they had one 10th of the passion of the supporters then we would be more accepting (Young aside) of them ,
Yes I know shouting and screaming by the boss only gets you so far ...but a traffic cone has more animation than our manager ! You have to continue to question his tactics , or lack... We are 1-0 down at home in a must win ( which they all are....sorry were!!!) game ...yet it takes till 15/20 mins into second half to bring on a second striker ...why...
You have a player getting some abuse from the fans on one side, he makes another mistake ...switch him to other flank, give it 5 mins then take him off...don't just react to the fans and pull him . You can guarantee O'sullivans confidence is now completely shot!
Just a quick question how many players has owers signed on loan now ? Team spirit is forged by playing together week after week, trusting your team mates ...difficult when you don't know their name or if they are going to be here next week !
We don't do team talks, we do introduction meetings.
