Go G.O!!

Yorkieandy wrote: 26 Aug 2018, 13:23 Anyone on here who runs a kids sunday league team couldn't do any worse than Owers with the squad he has and the many benefits his team enjoy over other part time amateur clubs in the NLS.

Maybe the club should run an innovative competition?

Fans put their name into a hat to manage the team for 5 games and whoever gets pulled out does so and if they do better than Owers (which is highly likely) then they can have the job for the rest of the season and Owers gets to go where he deserves to be. Signing on.

I also read recently that Paul Sturrock has gone back to Bonnie Scotland to scout for Dundee United. He did offer the club advice and the club ignored / refused his free help. What a total collection of belmers we have running TUFC. :red:
Sturrock was sat a few rows behind me at Home Park yesterday so not sure how much scouting he's doing in Scotland.

Facing Reality

Modgull wrote: 15 Aug 2018, 07:56 Is anyone surprised? Really? I'm glad that I have given up watching the drivel that Owers' teams serve up. I seriously hoped that my decision to stop going after last season's nightmare would be proven wrong but it seems not...
I'm the same. I didn't renew my ST for this season and have had no interest in watching any of the home games or the game at Oxford on Tuesday night while I was staying in the area for work.

Chelmsford City Vs Torquay United - 4/8/18

Switched on Soccer Saturday and forgot that the NLS isn't covered on their vidiprinter so tuned into the TUFC radio. It's working well and has 428 listeners right now.

Fingers crossed for an away win to get the season going.

Chris Regis - new signing

I have it on very good authority from somebody within the youth setup at Vale that he does have an attitude problem so lets see how a drop of two divisions affects that attitude.

Expectations for the forthcoming season in NLS

I think Mid table is a realistc expectation. I'd love to think we would be pushing for promotion but as others have said, once the pitch starts accommodating 1-2 games a week and the bad weather comes, the pitch will suffer.

Secondly, it's another team of newbies who have yet to gel and I still don't see Owers as a motivational, insprirational leader. His monotone delivery will not push anybody to give that extra 10% needed on occasions.

I hope we get promoted but even if we do, can we really celebrate promotion back to a division that is still a league lower than where we should be.

Truro ground share back on?

It obviously does and I wish you all well but I didn't renew this year because I need a break from the crap at Plainmoor.

I fear Truro will get their adequate stadium, then watch us ground share down there for a number of years. CO gets his real estate in TQ and Gordon Oliver gets first option on a property for his retirement.

Truro ground share back on?

Jerry wrote: 24 Jul 2018, 13:17 Good man Porky :)

800 is a cracking figure in the circumstances.
It shows how people will accept anything in the name of loyalty and highlights why CO can continue to live a charmed life and do as he pleases.

The 'Gordon Oliver' Trophy

A nice little sweetener for Mr Oliver. A man who has no interest in our club but who holds the key to the freehold of Plainmoor and now Osborne is naming a lovely shiny award in his honour.

So if/when an adequate "stadium" is built in Truro, how long will we have to ground share in Truro?.............that will signify the beginning of the end.

I want Gowling to stay....

It seems Gowling is precious as well as attention seeking. He's blocked me on Twitter for suggesting that he shouldn't bring his dispute with the employer onto social media but, instead, deal with it direct with them.

Now he's removed the tweet apparently.

What a complete prick.

An athletic defender? I would hope he is. I'd be concerned if we signed a rotund one.

Owers says he's a player he can try to improve. I'm just wondering how many players Owers and Kuhl improved last year. Anyone?

Torquay v Cardiff

I remember a midweek game where the Cardiff fans forced their way through the gate between the away end and popside. There was only about a dozen who were going for it but their following that night was pitiful.

Prefer Swansea......

TUFC Twitter

I get what you’re saying Andy.

As fans, if we allow ourselves to be ridiculed and taken for mugs, clubs will take advantage. The sensible ones start to see this and distance themselves. I’ve always been a big fan of the club but this season is one too many for me and that’s why I’m taking the decision to keep my money and not spend it on a ST etc.

Football plays on the emotions and like you, I wish Damon and Ryan well but I feel no obligation to put money into any fund. They will be able to find work of a non-physical nature that allows them to support their families just like a number of fans on the Popside each week.
