Hungerford Town v Torquayunited 15/9/18

forevertufc wrote: 16 Sep 2018, 14:35 Banter between fans and players, long been part of the game, part of good footballing education for the young player, I mean just imagine if the young Hungerford keeper (who can't be much younger than Alex Bass) makes it big in the game, no where to hide when your playing in front of 25,000 fans.
I’m sure I read somewhere the lad is on loan from Reading and is only 17!? He certainly looked it as well!! I think he is the younger brother of Andresson who we had on loan for a bit last season.

Getting heckled by opposition fans is part of the game, builds character!!

Hungerford Town v Torquayunited 15/9/18

brucie wrote: 15 Sep 2018, 17:04 My son was at the game - we were apparently all over them. Reid hit he post, Banton hit the bar from 20 yards, Williams had a goal disallowed and their 17 year old keeper made two blinding saves in the second half.
Mini Brucie is correct, we were all over them for pretty much the games entirety!

What a difference a change of manager and a few days can make, everything just felt different today and you could see that on the pitch and off it amongst the crowd.

Could have easily been 5/6/7 if it wasn’t for their young lad in goal and Opi’s dreadful shooting!

However, this was only Hungerford so I won’t get carried away. They are definitely going down this season.

Torquay United v Hemel Hempstead Town, Saturday 1st September 2018

I just hope this win isn’t a fluke and one to paper over the cracks! Another home game next week we ‘should’ win and hopefully fortunes will start to change. Wins bring confidence, which is what we need.

Sounded like the two new lads played very well too, just the kick up the backside the rest of the team needed.

Oxford City v Torquay United 14/08/18

First half terrible, second half was marginally better but we had no punch up top, game over. Pretty much sums it up I reckon!

On a side note, did anyone else see that jet circling really slowly last night?

Oxford (City) Away

First game of the campaign for me! It’s nice to actually be looking forward to going rather than seeing it as a chore!!

I have just had a little nosey at their website, didn’t realise ex Gull Joe Oastler was playing for them.

Anyway, I hope we can keep the momentum going and Keating bags again, reckon it’ll be a tight one though!

Ebbsfleet on Saturday

We’ll bang out the best performance of the season today when we don’t even need it, typical.

Woking and Barrow are both losing. Barrow are obviously in the driving seat though, can’t see Woking getting anything against Dover and I doubt Barrow will lose to a poor Chester side.

I honestly don’t think realisation has yet hit me regarding our relegation, considering the other sides that have gone down already, and the other side that drops today. How the **** are we on par with Guiseley, Chester, Woking/Barrow?!....

Second half, cannot fault them, absolutely brilliant!

If we’d have banged out more performances like that we would never have been in this mess!!!

Guiseley v Barrow 17/4/18

I know it shouldn’t be, but I find it quite amusing how Guiseley pretty much get to decide the fate of who comes down with them, seeing as they are playing Barrow tonight, and then us plus Woking in a few weeks! Illuminati confirmed....

Teigngull wrote: 03 Apr 2018, 18:54 I'll say this now & I mean very single word
I do not give a flying feck if Williams parks his arse in a deckchair on the edge of the oppo's penalty box smoking a Jamaican woodbine & sipping pina coladas to his hearts content, if, somehow, he grabs the goals that keeps us in this division.
And I'm pretty darn sure the rest of you would be alright with it too.
We've been crying out for a Williams all season, we knew what he was like from before & we still castigate him, that's where Nicholson went wrong with him ( he didn't know how to get the best out of him), for feck sake let's play to his strengths & maybe just maybe he might deliver the goods.
To put it another way, if Williams was not here we'd all be crying out for a player like him to get the goals to keep us up, just like he did before.
You wouldn't ask Mo Farrah to run the 100m in the commonwealth games would you ?
And arrywithnobrain, start consuming that rather large chip on your shoulder, your becoming quite boring & predictable too.
Brilliant

We knew exactly what we were getting when Williams came back! His game isn’t about running around chasing balls for 90 minutes, he’s the arrogant striker that will bag goals, and I’m perfectly fine with that.

Romain does most of the leg work and Williams just sort of swans around. They compliment each other beautifully, like a knife and a fork. Chuck Healey in the mix and you have a spoon too, a perfect trio!
