"Proper" rugby, or girls rugby?culmstockgull wrote: ↑27 Apr 2024, 19:23 I enjoyed that game today, the young no 7 who decided to do a booth for the first goal, I think he was more shocked than we were judging by the look on his face, I strongly believe that bridgwater had a ringer in their no 10 , tall and built like a second row forward, supposedcly under 18 but he looked at least 25,
I was sat next to a coach from Bristol rovers development squad who was supposedly running the rule over two bridgwater players but he did say he was impressed by our right winger (no17) and one of our central defenders (no4). which worries me a bit as we cannot sign anyone let alone youth team players.

Potential Buyers
Dont see what the "rush" is re new owners....
As long as they are in place and have an agenda for the NL AGM, don't see what the panic is....
Posters saying " we should have heard by now" etc. need to take a step back....
I mean it takes at least 6 weeks to buy a house!

Contracts run until June.desperado wrote: ↑23 Apr 2024, 15:40 Well its all very quiet. All we know is Torquay United ladies lost 4-0 to Portishead - maybe Gary Johnson is managing them now
Presumably the players are all but one or two out of contract, not being paid and released or some told may be offered new terms in a week or two? Surely some have left already never to be seen again . Can't they even tell us that ?Anyone know ? Expect Merse does.......

Well, we certainly licked them Modgull.......Modgull wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 19:39 What an enjoyable match and great result! Two sides going hammer and tongues at each other, playing great passing football, but one with a cutting edge and the other without. Certainly United were flattered by the scoreline but we were treated to the goal of the season from Booth - worth the admission money on its own. We had 22 attempts, 10 on target plus 2 hits on the woodwork, and 5 goals. For me, Booth was the game changer - up until then it looked nip and tuck but Lapslie's injury and a straight like for like replacement by Booth allowed him to boss midfield and allow McGavin the time necessary to use his one-footed turns to good effect. Although the latter was the sponsors MOTM, I thought Booth was the stand-out player. There were other fine performances though - from Jenkins-Davies, Archer and Jude-Boyd (who richly deserved the YPOTY award) in particular and I thought Hall was immense early on at the back making two crucial goal-line blocks at the point when the two teams appeared well-matched. It was great also to see assured cameos from the two youngsters in the closing stages, Thomas and Wellington. No one played badly.

Thanks for doing this LouisLouis wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 17:50 With that we can conclude the TorquayFans.com Prediction League. I will be in touch with the winners in the coming days via PM. Congratulations Incredigull our champion with 46 points! A very tough season to get prediction points in with many highs and lows and not much in-between. Hope you've enjoyed predicting on here and such a relief that we are safe.
Made the season a bit more interesting!

FYI, I'd already gave an insightful response about this previously to the same poster if you care to look back on another thread.
Obviously he wasn't interested...........

Yawn.JimNichol'sdog wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 11:10 Why would Torquay United want to sign any players from Taunton who have proved that they are not good enough to play at this level?
I hope to be proved wrong, but I remain highly suspicious about the secrecy surrounding the identity of the preferred bidder. As previously mentioned, other clubs are overt about potential purchasers/investors - e.g. Man Utd and Sir Jim Ratcliffe - so why all the cloak and dagger activities at Plainmoor?

Jeez, give them a chance FFS.JimNichol'sdog wrote: ↑17 Apr 2024, 21:32 I'm reluctant to bring a touch of realism to all of the triumphalism.
However, it shows the dire state of Torquay United that fans are celebrating the fact that it has avoided relegation to the 7th tier of English football.
While not knowing the identity of a prospective purchaser - yet more nonsense from the powers that be - it is time for an almost entire clear out of the managerial and playing staff, who have proved to be, on the whole, incompetent at this level.
They have to go through due-diligence, Administrators hoops and then, if they want - look at the books and their investment.
It cold take up to six weeks - how about a bit of patience???
When Matt Ellis took over my egg-chasing team, that took three months....
And Wakefield Trinity were not in administration either.

Bet you wouldn't have said that if we'd have lost 4-0.......culmstockgull wrote: ↑17 Apr 2024, 10:40 Personally ,I would like Taunton to survive in this league not least because its a short away trip and saves on travelling costs for the club and besides it seems they are very close to experiencing what we are going through at the moment.

Its much simpler really...North Curry House wrote: ↑16 Apr 2024, 22:19 Looking bleak for Taunton now. They have to beat WSM on Thursday and may even need to win on Saturday as well. It could be goal difference between Taunton and Eastbourne..,......but who cares, we are SAFE. Just need to sort out the administrators and have a plan in place for providing a bond to continue in NLS......do not let us fall foul of their rules, after the teams efforts in last two weeks.
I need to sleep...bloody exhausting!
Taunton have to win both of their games to survive.
