Re: Torquay Summer Transfers Thread INs and OUTs
Jordan Robertson - striker on loan from Sheff Utd in relegation season, played 11 times (inc 5 sub) and scored 4 goals. Anyway just signed one-year deal with Scunny from St Johnstone. He had spell out of game after being jailed for causing death due to dangerous driving.

Re: Date of New Manager Appointment
Victor Chandler also has Forster as 1/3 favourite, so looks like it's a done deal! Obviously, the more quickly we get him in the hotseat now the better so we can get things in place for the new season.HRG wrote: A good sign? I certainly hope so!

Re: Torquay Summer Transfers Thread OUTs
I'm sorry to say it, but think you're being a tad negative here. Kenny Veysey can always come out of retirement to stand between the posts.SteveDeckchair wrote:I think its obvious to anyone that we are going to be playing with seven outfield players next season and no goalkeeper.....

Re: Scott bevan.. gone.
To be fair, anyone in Mr Baker's position is going to stretch the truth a bit. He was not going to rock the boat and say Buckle was signed up and leaving straight after the play-offs. He was always going to deflect attention away from the rumours so that the focus was on the team and winning promotion.gashead josh wrote:Do you really trust Bakers words? The same man that lied to all you fans before the playoff final saying he hoped Buckle would stay knowing full well the deal was agreed before the home Shrewsbury game (he was at the meating after all). The contract was also sent to the LMA.

He's a 29-year-old central defender who has been released by Bradford City but made his name for Cheltenham. Not sure what this thread is suggesting either!forevertufc wrote:Ok, I have obviously missed something here, and curiosity has now killed the cat, who is Shane Duff?

Re: skybet next manager odds
Looks like Forster has all but turned down Hayes to concentrate on his Torquay application. Wants to join a club gunning for promotion rather than one trying to stay up....

According to his Twitter he's in Ibiza, so unless Ally McCoist has flown over there to snap him up I am not fully convinced!!

Re: Key Dates for your diary
I seem to remember that the League Cup is seeded and regionalised, so we'll get a team either from the Championship or top half of League One - so Exeter a possibility.

Re: skybet next manager odds
Hargreaves odds lengthened to 5/2 with Victor Chandler now, from 7/4 (still 6/4 with Sky).
Kevin Phillips also added to the list: 12/1 with VC and 10/1 with Sky.

Re: ATTENDANCES LAST SEASON
Totally agree. Last season we had three league games midweek and this year we had six due to the bad weather.basil75 wrote:I wouldn't worry too much about the drop in attendance this year. A congested midweek schedule from mid January due to the particularly horrid winter this year. Midweek games attract less than weekend games at the best of times, make the midweek games a weekly occurrence and you'll see enthusiasm drop significantly - as the nice occasional change of having a midweek game becomes arduous and inconvenient for many supporters when you have so many of them.
We also lost the games over the festive period which usually delivers above average attendances - and were rescheduled to midweek February - which deliver below average attendances.
These factors would account for most, if not all, the drop in average attendance this year I think. However, I am nevertheless a strong believer that the board should be doing more to address attendances.
Our average gate on a Tuesday this year was 1,851 while on a Saturday it is 2,906 - over 1,000 more. Our average Saturday attendance in 2009/10 was 2,957, so we're only 51 down on that figure.
This, in my view, can be put down to a couple of factors.
* For 2009/10 we had the cheap season ticket offer which boosted attendances.
* We lost our Christmas fixture due to the weather. In 2009/10 this was the Hereford game which had a crowd of 3,792. This year the corresponding fixture was rearranged to a Tuesday and only 1,680 turned up. This on its own knocks 93 off the average attendance alone.
* Our other "derby" against Bournemouth was also lost. This attracted a gate of 3,881 in 2009/10.
Thereagain, this season was far more successful than the one before so you'd have expected some improvement. But having said that, it's not as bad as the headline figures show.
Also, next season we have fixtures against Plymouth, Swindon and Bristol Rovers which you'd expect to give us an average of 4,000 from those games. So with a good winter and fewer postponements, we can perhaps expect gates to get back up to to an average of 2,900 next year.
