George Edwards
Let clear up a few points, I was standing beside the guy asking good questions. I thank him for this. George confined a few things. The new ground is still planned. The finances are very good. It became clear getting players to relocate is a big issue. As others have pointed out, as the group got larger, with shouting and swearing he retreated.

We apparently had a good budget, but getting players to relocate is a challenge. Be honest, is location hurting us in the current climate!

Sadly, this could be the result that highlights our shortcomings. Being a cup game, I can't see any loan signings appearing.

Agreed with the 'looks bigger, stronger, quicker, fitter, sharper.' comment. I've been saying it for two years now.desperado wrote: ↑07 Oct 2023, 20:31 So many weeks I seem to say the opposition looks bigger, stronger, quicker, fitter, sharper and more up for it.
As Portugull says this team is nowhere near promotion material, we'll do very well to make the top six.
It really is quite alarming how easily teams create chances against us and Talking I'm talking about the first half hour not the 10 men after that, when if anything we were a bit better.
When is the last time we had a fit for purpose striker on the bench
Really not good enough.

I can think of one game coming up where he will score. Just saying.Griff1n wrote: ↑07 Oct 2023, 19:19 Luke Pearce has gone out on loan again to try his luck at Weston-super-Mare initially for a month:-

Sadly, I just get the feeling the bench is not strong enough. It is great to see Asa back, but I can't see him playing more than 20 minutes. The others are simply not going to impact the game in a positive way for us. What is going on with recruitment and getting loan players in. Something is up or clearly not working. COYY

They do give a shit, but sadly in my view lack the vision. What does George Edwards do for Torquay United, supporters, or the town. Just think of the numbers we could have got if it was £5 and free to under 16's. If one in ten attended again or finished up supporting the club, happy days.
I'm hoping the fringe players include Hall and Dawson, but sadly not to be. COYY

I am not sure I am keen on predicting our results.
However, this game is a great opportunity to make it three wins in a row. Something we have not said for a while. 4 or 6 points this weekend would keep us nicely around the top of the table. COYY

Embarrassing, quite simply no other words for it. My family and myself made the 380 miles round trip from Worthing, to support the team we love, follow and support. Having returned home, my phone was full of messages from my mates taking the pi$$, now to keep my head down for a week.
We were embarrassed by Collage Academy Players, part time players and a coaching team paid per hour.

See you in Bristow's Bench. I'll be setting off from Worthing at 7.00, it feels very strange to be playing my home town.

I hear what you are saying and share your thoughts. See my comments on the Dillion De Silva thread. I place De Silva miles ahead of Felix. But having said that, the Worthing fans currently can't get enough of him. . . COYYUnitedinDevon wrote: ↑08 Aug 2023, 17:33 not jumping on any negativity bandwagon but really thinking if the 3 CBs at the minute is our best way of setting up
I think we would stronger with a back 4 of
Martin - Donellan - Tomlinson - Craske
Gives the option of 4-4-2 or 4-3-3
Either way i'll be there to support the team - although if we lose and Worthings star man is Joe Felix we are in trouble!
3-0 to Torquay

Quite simply the game I am dreading. I live in Worthing and have a number of mates who follow them. I will be making the 380 mile round trip with my family and have our tickets already.
Worthing finished 3rd last season, got off to a winning start and truly believe they will be top six again. Joe Felix has been their pre-season star and was man of the match of Saturday. Sadly, I worry this is another banana skin. I predict a 1-2 defeat with Asa Hall getting our goal. If this is a case, I will be in hiding for the next month.
