Full time V Part Time

leetufc wrote: 02 Apr 2024, 14:17 I do not understand the view that crowds would suddenly plummet to a 1000. Even at our lowest this season we have been comfortably above that, and the right setup behind the scenes with better engagement, I can see us maintaing decent crowds. I don't think the majority of fans would suddenly stop supporting the club because they are part time

With bigger crowds than other part time clubs we should be able to compete on wages. Location may be an issue compared to others, but a part time training schedule may mean attracting players from slightly further afield if it means they only have to travel to Torquay 2-3 times per week
“ Location maybe an issue “

IMO the football side of the club needs to be located in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands where a wealth of players are located. The players can be bused down to Plainmoor on match days. Part time players players won’t travel far to Torquay to train, and certainly won’t move down here.

Playoff Final - Ashton Gate

 The caterers at Ashton Gate will have to stock up with prawn sandwiches, the posh middle class Tory voters of Hartlepool will not put up with ordinary fare. What is the dress code? I assume smart casual⚽️😃🥲

European Super League

I gather that the board are just about to announce that we will not be joining the European Super League as one of the additional 3.

Saturdays games

Well I suppose that the season could be declared null and void, but this would create problems with promotion and relegation all the way up to the premier league. The pyramid system depends on teams going up and down, why should Sheffield be able to stay in the premier at the expense of a better team being promoted?

Southampton Gull wrote: 09 Jan 2021, 09:28 The problem there is what happens down the line when some teams have played 30 games while others only 15?
Eventually it becomes untenable.
Yes, just as well that we have excellent points per game figures. It is unlikely that the season will go on much longer, six out of the nine fixtures to be played today have now been called off. They will have to promote us as champs. just like they did last season with Barrow. The discussion is who will call off the season first, the government or the league.

National League | Torquay United v Stockport County | 03/10/20 3pm KO

Could this streaming be a money spinner? I wonder how many away streamers ( Stockport fans ) there were, What about Stockport and Torquay supporters around the world, did they also stream the game?

If National League is still on we should offer discounted tickets to Argyle and Exeter season ticket holders.

If matches are played behind closed doors there will not be any money coming in. How many clubs are likely to go under?

tomogull wrote: 29 Aug 2019, 17:28 An interesting concept, Wodger. When I first read your post, I must admit I thought 'what a daft idea'. But on second thoughts, there is a lot of sense in it. Problem is - EFL/FA aren't well known for sense. Would 'gate money' include season ticket sales and tickets bought online? it would be a nightmare to administer, and I'm sure some clubs would find 'loopholes' to avoid paying 1%. But I do think more money should filter down from the Premier League to lower league clubs. Perhaps the plight of Bury and Bolton will concentrate a few minds ....... until the next club 'hits the buffers'.
Yes, all money paid by the public to watch matches at the ground. I know it would be difficult to administer but if we are capable of organising brexit then surely it could be done.......wait a moment!

Bolton and Bury

If all of the 92 league and prem. clubs paid 1% of their gate money into a central fund, and then split the fund 92 ways at the end of the season, it might help. Man.City, United, Liverpool etc. would hardly notice the difference.
