Re: Burton Albion v Torquay United - 12/1/12

Chris B wrote:For all those advocating Ling's waiting game in the transfer market, and the club's general idea of 'consolidation', how will this work if we find ourselves back in the BSP? What we need from our manager is a vaguely proactive approach in terms of player recruitment - loan signgings, no bank-breaking fees - and a forward-thinking approach. Please stop telling us you're doing the same things as last year every time you hear a dissenting voice from the stands: we *don't* have last season's squad, and those methods are patently not working.

Having previously been reluctant to put too much pressure on Nathan Craig, Ling now seems willing to risk our place in the Football League, relying on the inexperienced Craig, Bodin, Thompson, Macklin and Yeoman to deliver.

nathan craig stood out when he played central midfield when lee mansell was suspended, suspension over and craig gets put on the right wing, what a waste.unfortunately it seems mr ling has his favourites.how creative has our midfield been since.also how bad does j.oastler have to be for leadbitter to get another chance, did well when when joe was suspended, has more pace and can actually cross the ball when in attacking situations, again one of mr lings favourites.at home we dont need two defensive midfield players, either mansell or easton has to be dropped.as a left full back would you rather defend against thompson with his pace and trickery or a left footed player who you know is going to cut in on his left with not as much pace, dificult one that.if we are now playing with two up front we need wingers who are going to get to the byline and get crosses in.rene needs to do his work in the penalty box,the times he wonders out wide, plays the ball back, cross comes in and we have danny stevens trying to outjump a 6ft defender.

"plainmoor pitch"

i know weve had a lot of rain, but our pitch looks awful at the moment.why do the subs have to kick a ball around at half time.surely they need to be in the dreesing room listening to the manager who might be changing tactics.they warm up up and down the touchline anyway, plus it keeps them off the pitch.the guys who go on the pitch at halftime walk around with a fork replacing the odd divet without doing anything at all to the heavily sanded area.maybe the youth team could help with the pitch at halftime...three men with forks is a waste of time

Matt.
previous dealings with neil warnock and scouting players.we've had players from sheff utd when he was manager and also from qpr when he was there.check out the leeds squad and somma, who is coming back from injury needs games,a situation that would benefit both clubs.i would expect a lot of interest from other clubs but with neil always bringing his clubs down for pre-seaon there might be a chance if mr ling is intersted...

Re: New Year - New Striker

now that leeds utd have been taken over and neil warnock stating he wants some new players im guessing he'll be after at least one striker.this would put one of their strikers done the pecking order,sommer...did a great job for lincoln two seasons ago and with neils record of loaning players to us before would be worth a phone call about a loan till the end of the season.

Re: Has Ling pulled the wool over everyones eyes

personally in the first half against bristol city i thought the quality of crosses from chris mcphee were excellent.he tracked back well and think him and joe ostler combined really well, plus the added height of these two will be an added bonus at set pieces in defence and attack.they looked a lot better option than macklin and leadbitter in the second half

cheerleaders dancers......... now theres an idea

on a serious note,as we have no team at the moment it has to be "always look on the bright side of life"

Re: Martin Ling

:keepie: 8/maybe he will bring scott mcgleish to the club, great goalscoring record and played under ling at orient, plus i think he is a free agent.maybe the candidates had to give a list of realistic potential signings and this had some bearing on the boards decision

goalkeeper

i cant see danny potter wanting to stay on playing 2nd fiddle to scott,i think he is good enough to be a number 1 at most league 2 teams.if that were to be the case and with brighton going up to the championship i would expect michael poke to be available again.would you like to have him back? :goal:
