Slough v Torquay United 18/08/18

Dull and uninspiring. A full-time team showing no progression between games. There are inherent problems with this management team.

St Lukes Cup vs Cullompton Rangers

It is good to see on the OS that Owers considers Wes Atkinson good enough to extend his trial.

Of all the players I watched during the game at Collumpton Rangers, Atkinson looked like he had potential. Athletic and with good spatial awareness and passing accuracy I feel he would be a worthwhile addition to the squad and I am sure will develop with the right guidance.

Blimey Nick, if even you think it's going to be a brighter future, then even I am even more optimistic now

Bromley v Torquay United Match Day Thread 12/9/17

Having not posted for a while but having listened and followed the commentary of each game, it's hugely disappointing to see the demise of such a terrific family club with such a loyal following, something the current management and board simply do not deserve.

The cynic in me questions whether the demise of the club would actually play into the hands of GI and the delay in appointing a new manager is actually intended to create discord amongst the fans with dwindling gates, reduced support, effectively to champion their cause of the need to sell the ground as the only viable option moving forward.

It's easy to wreck a football club with this kind of approach and I certainly have no confidence in GI, Clarke Osborn or his long term intentions for this club.

It really is quite tragic and I commend the loyal and honest fans who continue to remain faithful to what can only be described as a club in free fall.

Why is it that the O/S seems to be the last place you find news of players departures?

Surely it is about time this draconian way of handling the postponement was addressed. It's the guy on the train I feel sorry for, having paid for a ticket! - I travel from Taunton, not exactly up country but still at 140 mile round trip. The times I have turned up at Plainmoor only to find the game was called off an hour earlier!

The club communication is hopeless. We know about the postponement on the fans forum first! - with modern technology and instant messaging why is notice not available immediately via social media and on the OS after a decision is made?

Why or why could this not have been called of at 12:00am to give fans a chance or do they simply not matter? That's how it feels. I agree a commercial decision needs to be made by the club to try and get the game on but I believe its a false economy as you will lose some fans now that may have come on Tuesday night but sure as hell wont now if they have already spent money travelling.

I think its in everyone's interest to call a game of at a reasonable time - I think 12:00am.

For the life of me I don't know why it is such a problem to make a decision and give fans a chance to save money and not travel. I understand the desire to want to play the game but I for one would prefer the game cancelled in advance as opposed to last minute!!

Regardless of the substitution fiasco, one of the points made was that this probably cost us the game as Briscoe was done for. Why has somebody not raised the point that at 70 minutes why is a professional player 'Done For'? Especially considering he was 'Done For' for most of last season after 70 minutes. Surely there is an issue here in terms of overall fitness and in all honesty should the club not be working hard on making him a player capable of lasting a whole game?

Ideas for Mr Candy

I really believe that the Chairman needs to issue her New Year message to map out the Club's direction for 2015 and how the Board can support the manager.
Nick, I totally agree that for some weeks/months now it does feel like we are all passengers on a ship with no captain. This is no personal criticism of Thea but at a time of unrest or disillusionment, it requires a leader to stand up and rally the troops. Look at the publicity generated by 'Delia Smith' when she made her rallying cry on the pitch at Norwich!

It would be reassuring to us all to have some clear direction in terms of the strategy and aspirations for the remainder of the system and to illustrate to fans that the board are desperate to achieve the highest possible finish. This may be only considered as 'lip service' by fans, but it does make a difference.

Here's hoping that we see some action!

Alan.

Listenend on the radio - hardly heard a Torquay player named in the second half.

Part-timers who literally had nothing to threaten us with. 80 minute conceding goals again and then throwing it away in the 93rd minute. Absolutely shocking - can't defend a lead and Bowman can't score unless there is an empty net in front of him.

Gutted, fed up listening and seeing the same old Torquay - no doubt Hargreaves will say that they were a good solid side and a point was a good result. I see it different. In front twice again and 2 points lost.

This and similar results will cost us success this season. We should be able to break-down sides like this and defend a lead! God knows we have enough experience. Can't help thinking though the problem is more midfield as I can't tell you how many times I heard Downes name mentioned! Says it all.

Glad I never travelled!

Aldershot Town v Torquay United – Saturday 25th October 2014

Apart from the woeful performance - one of my biggest concerns is that we have players who clearly do not want to be at TUFC. At the game today for th first time ever at half time I saw Chapell and Pearce sat on the bench arms crossed at half time while all the other subs warmed up. They were then joined by Cameron. Picture attached to prove it. I think this is one of Hargreaves major problems and he knows it. You only had to watch Cameron's contribution after coming on and compare this with Yeoman to see the difference! Just hoping they go in Jan.

Watched Cruise and Tonge against Yeovil and both were awful in all honesty. Certainly our weakest positions when these guys play them. Tonge was responsible for a number of goals last season being turned by pacey wingers - these are my only real worries at the moment!

Poke gone

Can someone elude to the fact why the communication aspect of our OS is so poor.

Why is it that we consistently hear about signings and player moves from other sources i.e. BBC, Sky etc. before the official site?

This was one of my major criticisms of the club last year. I would like to know the reasons why this is such a problem?

The BBC reported yesterday Poke had left and it is still not on the OS. Luke Young was reported on Sky both a day or so before the official site.

Must do better.

We could be playing for 3 months with 15 players and still wouldn't score. The stats don't lie and quite how we expect Stockley or Hawley to score is beyond me. I agree with others, sooner the season ends the better. Just not good enough, simple as that!
