If he was being backed financially by an owner wanting promotion he'd have been allowed to strengthen the squad. Does anyone seriously think his hands aren't tied?
So Gary Johnson has no responsibility for our current situation?

Hampton + Richmond v Torquay United Sat 28/10/23 3PM

I’ve hardly posted here this season as it got so frustrating saying the same thing over and over again. There was a Gary Johnson stick or twist vote early last season. After we got pumped 6-0 by Wrexham it was clear he was taking us one way. Unfortunately, it was obvious to anyone who watches football regularly that we were in trouble early last season and so it proved. This season is just an extension of last season it’s just that we face teams of a worse standard so sometimes we get away with it. Most of us that called for him to go were called ‘not proper fans’ or told we won’t get anyone better than GJ. All I can say now is who could do worse? Too many buried their hands in the sand and just assumed it would change.

GJ has assembled probably the worst squad ever at Torquay. Tactically we are a mess and we play the most unattractive football going. This isn’t going to suddenly turn around and automatic promotion already looks out of reach. I don’t believe the players are playing for their manager. When are the club going to act?

Aveley F C vs Torquay United Sat 2 Sept KO 3pm

I have no idea how anyone can continue to support GJ’s hoofball. It doesn’t work. Even though we’ve won a few game’s recently the performances haven’t been there. Tactically awful and poorly coached. He should have been sacked early last season.

TYPICAL on the cheap, easy option, no real foresight, let's stick with what we know, GJ STAYS ON, I just cannot for the life of me get my head around what in the blue hell goes through people's minds sometimes, I'll tell you something for nothing, next season unless there HUGE changes, we won't piss the league at all, no way, it ain't happening, if ever there was a time to start the dawn of a new era, it was NOW, but typical TUFC easy option yet again, Edwards,Downes Johnson and his brother, cosy as you like...what a complete cop out, and still Johnson wants to blame officials, he never owns his shit does he?, We are down due to him, and him alone,Ake's a complete mockery of us all "judge me after 10 games" Gary, you had 46 games, and you took us down...that's says it all, and we reward that...
I have to agree with this and I cannot understand the decision for him to stay. Keeping GJ is an acceptance of failure.

Altrincham v Torquay United, 3pm, Saturday 22nd April 2023

Nick Potkins wrote: 22 Apr 2023, 19:34 The first thing to clear up will be staying full time or going part time.

If we stay full time, we need a true two year plan. This to me would include, Gary staying and moving training away from Devon, something I've recommended for a while now. We as a club need to be more proactive, not reactive.

I am sue a George Edwards statement will be issued next Sunday, after the Wrexham game (smile).
I’m sorry I just don’t see how GJ staying can be part of our plan going forward. We need a complete restructure both on and off the pitch. Ultimately the manager is responsible for what happens on the pitch and this season has not been acceptable. We’re poorly coached and tactically naive. The players lack and kind of game management and when compared to other teams in the league, look unfit and physically not up to the task. The managerial change should have happened much earlier in the season. I accepted it wasn’t going to happen but he has now taken us down to part time football. He is now a devise figure amongst the fans and it’s time for change.

Altrincham v Torquay United, 3pm, Saturday 22nd April 2023

Pathetic. A shambles of a season. This was so avoidable had the club acted sooner. Many of us warned this was coming early in the season and unfortunately we again find ourselves in a part time league.

I just hope we win today. Regardless of what happens elsewhere a win will guarantee it goes down to the last game. The Wrexham game is we’re already down would be horrendous

This is a disaster and has finished off any chance of staying up in GD. Could really do with Wealdstone doing us a favour.

Does this really have to turn into a debate about GJ again. We have 3 games left and have given ourselves a chance of the greatest escape I’ve ever seen. I fear the future of the club if we go down. We can worry about the future of GJ at the end of the season.

Will we stay up?

Looking at these next 2 away games if we can pick up 4 points we will give ourselves a chance going into the Wrexham game. As much as I dislike Wrexham we would have much more of a chance if they wrap the title by winning the next 2 home games. A win on Tuesday would also finish off Yeovil.

I’m not confident 50 points will be quite enough, especially given our goal difference. Realistically Dorking are safe now, especially as they are home to Scunthorpe last game of the season so the final place is us, Aldershot, York, Maidenhead.
