Are some Referees Corrupt?

brucie wrote: 22 Jun 2021, 16:04 I don't particularly see the point in blaming players for missing penalties. Someone has to score. Someone is going to miss. Its a lottery.

Waters had completely sent their keeper the wrong way. Is slipping over at the last second actually his fault. Who knows but to mind it was indicative of our luck (or lack of it on the day). Buse's penalty would most times have ended up in the net after it hit the underside of the bar - it really has nothing to do with how high the goal was.

Who knows what would have happened if Camerons goals had stood - it would hardly have done us any harm though. They had an inept goalkeeper who was at fault and repeatedly made mistakes for both disallowed goals and Covalans header. He was directly at fault for all three goals and getting two of them chalked off was the result of a ludicrous and one sided referee who was as bad as I've ever seen.

It wasn't just the goals though, shirt pulling, time wasting, red card offences. He turned a blind eye to everything else. To say he didn't influence the result of the game is laughable.
What red card offences?

Do you mean Lewis? He should have had a second yellow for dissent

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

UnitedinDevon wrote: 22 Jun 2021, 16:31 if you honestly think thats a foul a game of football would last half a day with all the added time time for the stoppages in play
Ansolute rubbish, fouls are given outside the penalty area constantly that would be waved away inside the box when appealing for a penalty and vice versa

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

Hi everyone,

Hartlepool fan here. I would just like to say that whatever happened yesterday the game was an absolutely fantastic advert for the national league. I do feel for you guys as its the best way to win and worst way to lose. I do think you will do well next season though.

Having watched the game again, here is my opinion on the big points.

Your first disallowed goal for me was a foul and here's why. Your player is already goal side of the defender and a yard behind him. He actively stepped back towards the defender, put his hands on him to hold him back and gain an advantage. Whats wrong with standing your ground, making a run and scoring? He did it to gain an advantage, its a foul.

The second disallowed goal, I think that's the keepers fault and we got lucky with that. However, apply the same to the goal we have disallowed and we both could have had an extra goal. Our disallowed goal was on par with that one so they cancel each other out imo.

You also should have had Lewis sent off, he was already on a yellow and slammed the ball on the floor in frustration. Had he not already had a card the ref would not have thought twice about booking him.

We all have a bias towards our own team and can see how you feel disappointed but its less clear cut than some of you think.
