Dover Athletic: National League club hit with fine, points deduction and results expunged

Yes they should be demoted below the NL South.

Hung out to dry? They wilfully refused to play, break the rules , you get punished. Any two year old will tell you that.

I would say they got off lightly. Their Chairman has thrown the toys out of his pram, threatening legal action - what a fool.

Because they are not considered good enough.

Torquay United v Solihull Moors - Tuesday 23rd March - Kick Off 19:00

Excellent performance, that is better two wins and two clean sheets in in a few days. We must follow this up with another good showing at Dagenham, and most importantly the three points.

Only downside tonight is all our main rivals won but we can not control that - we have to focus on winning all our matches.

Well done tonight.

Goodbye GJ?

PlainmoorB0b wrote: 18 Mar 2021, 19:50 Though our unraveling has been reminiscent of the surrendering of a ten point lead in the 90/91 season we did eventually go up vis the play-offs after beating Blackpool at Wembley. Dave Smith did lose his job on that occasion. We suffered terrible injuries and in-fighting along the way with Uzell, an on fire Paul Smith and an unsettled Tynan among others missing in action. That team had nothing like the ravaging from injuries we’ve had this year though. To suggest GJ should go is insanity...I’ll bet that nobody was wishing he’d gone after the collapse last year when we were smashing teams for fun before Christmas... our injuries have completely torpedoed our pattern of play and you just cannot expect to replace the quality we’ve seen on the injury table. As mentioned above, even those who have returned are far from fully recovered and so we are, in effect, seven damn good first teamers down. It’s rubbish but if we weren’t in the midst of a national lockdown the possibilities for better quality replacements would be much improved. Our policy on risky recruitment of injury prone players probably needs looking at as its cost us two seasons running now, but if Davis, Moxey, Little, Wright etc were not the age they were or susceptible to injury it’s unlikely they’d be here. Wynter, Cameron, Nemane and Whitfield are just bad, bad luck. We ride it out and suffer but if we start talking of getting shot of GJ then we deserved everything we got with the willing but hapless Hargreaves and Nicholson and the dour Owers. Blimey did we learn nothing from hounding out Ling for Knill!??

Maidenhead V Torquay United 16 March 2021 KO 19.45

What total GARBAGE. Save us the disappointment, call the season off now, let us follow Dover in not playing.

This was s total embarrasment losing to a part time side......and not just losing but being outclassed.

Not surprised Blissett got a couple, it was on the cards.

Even the playoffs look beyondvthis lot!.

Tony Boyce club Chairman at the time was in the estate/letting business which may explain why there was a decent accommodation set up.
Tony Boyce was never in the estate /letting business, he was a solicitor, his sons have carried on with the profession.

The houses were owned by the Club, in no small measure due to the generosity of director Arthur Milner. When Arthur died in the early seventies, that is when the Club went into freefall.

We sold our best players, Bond. Cave, Scott etc to Bournemouth & sold the Club houses to balance the books.

Born and living in Chelston, I recall Tommy Spratt, Tony Scott, Alan Welsh living in Sherwell Valley Road. John Rudge lived opposite the school, Terry Adlington also lived 100 yards from the school.

Dennis Penford & Tommy Northcott lived in Drakes Avenue, Gordon Astall lived in Frobisher Green and George Webber in Queensway.

Oh for another Arthur Milner. He retired to Torquay from Birmingham and was instrumental in Robin Stubbs joining TUFC.

Talking to Robin last year, he said he fell in love with the town, the sea, sand and s**.

Signed from Brum, his only other football Club was Bristol Rovers (swap with John Rudge)....but he had many other clubs - The Casa Marina, Shiphay Manor, Mr Matts, Carlton Club. The Hideaway and a few others.

Blackpool, then in the first division (now Premiership) came sniffing for his services but he did not want to leave the Gulls.

brucie wrote: 13 Mar 2021, 23:12 At least you can't blame Hall completely as Hartlepool failed to win as well. That said it was a terrible penalty - the keeper had committed to diving to his right when Hall was four steps from the ball. All he had to do was roll it into the other call, but for some reason went the direction that the keeper was diving.

Squad still looks weak but not helped by our loanees Sheaf and Street who contribute nothing, when we need a full back. I'n mot sure Boden looks any better either. Not big enough, or quick enough to do any damage and looks like he's blowing out of his arse after 20 minutes.

Suttons winner today was scored by a player they have on loan from Bath City - he has scored 6 goals in 9 games for Bath this season. Our recruitment of loan signings looks poor in comparison.
And the Notts County winner was scored by Mark Ellis on his debut, on loan from Tranmere.

Surely we could have been in the market for Wilson and Ellis. Instead we are lumbered with Street and Sheaf, who are clearly not up to it.

Gary's brother should be replaced, he has not any worthwhile contacts and is a total embarrasment.

Sparks and Blissett both scored yesterday for Maidenhead, just warming up for Tuesday.

I was listening to commentary on Torquay United radio but Dave Thomas is in tandem with that odd job bloke Tinkler, who is bloody awful. Got fed up with their drivel. so found BBC Borehamwood. It is first class. I will listen to this second half.

Anothet missed penalty - not good enough could cost us another two points

Just the three points will do me thank you. Sutton and Notts County both had scrappy 1-0 away wins. We need to do the same.
