New GK coach required!

Southampton Gull wrote: 25 Jul 2021, 18:32 I was coached by John Burridge and Tim Flowers. Keepers know keepers which is why I'm surprised at your rating of Covolan. Obviously the Port Vale management disagree with you as well.
Time will tell.

New GK coach required!

Southampton Gull wrote: 20 Jul 2021, 09:37 As long as you take the youngsters for English lessons....

As another goalkeeper I disagree with your opinion.

Yep that’s ok to have an opinion, but when you look at the standard of goalkeeper training in this country it’s very poor, I have watched professional clubs do goalkeeper training here in the bay, and not one of the coaches had been a goalkeeper. It had all been taught to them at a college and then for them to go out to train it. (one training guide for all) no wonder are national team/premier league has not got world class keepers. And maybe because I never went to college to learn goalkeeping I never really picked up English.

Yes I do as I only hung my cloves up a couple of years ago.

Re Covolan comments he obviously knows better than Gary Johnson and Port Vale.
Yep I will be going for it, as I can bring a whole different approach to goalkeeper training from what is being trained to are youngsters at the moment.

desperado wrote: 17 Jul 2021, 13:04 What on earth are you talking about Jpr ?
Did you watch all of Covolans performances over the second half of the season when he reclaimed his place after injury ? He was almost faultless in all areas of his game , thats why he's gone up a level.
Maybe you know more about rugby than football with a name like yours !

He is Not a very good keeper, tall yes but can catch a ball in the air, does not command his box, his positioning for shots is wrong (to flat on his line) and the list keeps going. Rugby is not my game goal keeper was.

Plainmoor78 wrote: 16 Jul 2021, 21:43 If that is the case then surely Wiles-Richards will be the first choice keeper, otherwise why would Bristol City loan him to us just to sit on the bench.

Well let’s hope they are better than the last two we had, if one of the new keepers can command there box, come out and catch crosses and corners and have more influence in one to one situations, and not get over excited when releasing the ball, and not have a Daft spell in a game, then that keeper will be better than the two we had.
Then as long as that keeper plays consistently to that level week in week out then that will be better for the squad, basically do all the things that the other two Could not do.

A Professional referee for play of final

Jpr wrote: 24 Jun 2021, 17:18 Thank you standupsitdown, I hope other club forums read this and ask the same question WHY IS A PART TIME REF IN CHARGE OFF THE FINAL, the national league needs to catch up with modern times, or a part time ref will still be used in your final to come, And that’s not good enough this will effect the finalist next year and the year after if it’s not changed. The whole standard of reffing in this league ain’t great. But this one step is a big step for your professional football clubs who ever is in the final

A Professional referee for play of final

standupsitdown wrote: 22 Jun 2021, 09:26 One of the problems is that referees won't talk to their linesmen. They make an instant decision but for both of these goals they could have talked to the linesman and made a more considered decision based on two views.

I agree that with the importance of this game a top referee should be appointed.

A Professional referee for play of final

Hi gullsgullsgulls and yes poolie enjoy your promotion

Gullsgullsgulls this is not self destructive moaning, when this league was formed some years ago the majority of teams in it where part time teams, but up to this modern day apart from a couple of teams now all are full time professional football clubs, and going back 100years ago the amount of money was not there also. BT sport have only come on to the scene recently to cover the final. So with this should a professional ref not take charge of the final the top game to come from the national league the Jewel in the crown and BT sport could provide A type of VAR. I know are time has been and gone and good luck to Hartlepool but this is to all the teams that will be in play off finals to come. This final needs a full time ref and Bt sport replays used as VAR this is the future and not the past.

I apologised for the minority of our fans and praised yours, and your club.
Also, wished you good luck in the new season.

hurt for a while. But you will get over it.

This is meant for all play off finals to come in the national league, nearly all teams in the national league are full time professional clubs,
And yet the national league uses a part Time ref for a big money game, so this may not affect you at the moment but if you are relegated in time, this could effect you. My point is also BT sport where at the game and will be for next few years, so why could that not be used as VAR. you must have watched the highlights and saw what the whole country saw. So come on national league use a full time professional Referee And use the live replays to help a ref in a game that has so much riding on it.

No I am afraid not Simon Mather works as a supermarket team leader to one of the big chains. that’s his full time job not a full time ref.

A Professional referee for play of final

I Think for a division that has mainly full time professional football teams in it, should have professional full time referees, if not for league games definitely for the play off final, and not a part time ref. This is make or break for teams and yet a part time ref was in charge of such a big game, and with so much money riding on that ref, BT sport where at the game yesterday so could that not have been used like VAR to assist with decisions in such an important game that is make or break, this really needs to be looked in too for all future play off finals, so come on National league use a professional referee in the play off final and use the live tv coverage for replays to assist in important decisions, to all clubs in the national league this could effect your club in finals to come. It won’t help us now but it could be the rise of your club and not in the hands of a part time ref.

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

Well tried all morning to get tickets, went in at number 200 and out at 150 (line crash) so back in at number 220 and out at 200, a cunning plan two phones, one at 160 and other at 180, 160 went down and down and down till 90 and then out. 180 went down and down and down and down (just like my mood) until told tickets all sold. What a fun morning /afternoon that was, the cat is scared of me, the neighbours think I have Tourette’s my phone bill could have been a flight to Australia (but not back) and I have eaten everything in the fridge and I may need a new kettle cat dog fridge and neighbours ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Such fun
