And there's the crux of the matter
HIS ABILITY DID NOT ALWAYS MATCH HIS ENTHUSIASM
nice bloke & all that but wouldn't get a sniff in our current squad, not even as a squad player.
Just proves how much we've moved onwards & upwards, no longer shopping in the bargain basement for stocking fillers.

Also he took her to the doctors with a very snotty nose.
He was told she was 'full up' & needed emptying !!

That was a fantastic result against a fairly good team. what doe's he expect ? In football you need luck and to have the ability to grind out results, just like today. Come on Gary, we are not going to score 4 or 5 goals every week.
Absolutely nothing wrong with expecting more from your team, GJ has a plan & the boys didn't execute it the way he wanted, however, we ground out the win but GJ expects better because he knows they can be better.
If you're going to win this league then grinding out results is a must & GJ is entitled to his opinion on his team

National League | Torquay United Vs Boreham Wood | 14/11/20 | 3pm KO

Turn the last 2 league results around & every one would've taken a 1-1 draw at Hartlepool & a 5-0 hammering of Boring Wood.
Did we miss an opportunity on sat ?
I dont think we did after that gut wrenching fa cup result I think the lads did well to get a point, that Crawley result could've so easily put a massive dent in our confidence & last year we'd probably have lost the next 3 or 4 fixtures.
This squad has come on leaps & bounds in a short space of time & in all reality we ain't going to win every game, so if you cant win the game just make sure you dont lose it, should be the philosophy & at the business end of the season when the prizes are handed out those odd points will be the difference whether we win the league or not.

Emirates FA Cup 1st round | Torquay United v Crawley Town | 08/11/2020 12.45pm KO

Why is everybody seeming to assume that IF we managed to get through yesterday we'd automatically get to round 3 ?
Yesterday showed our shortcomings to the full, lack of gamesmanship cost us dearly, we had the game won & ballsed it up big time, I'm just glad there wasnt 3 points hanging on this game.
GJ & AD will have their work cut out this week to eradicate the ' after you Claude ' defending I'd thought was a thing of the past.

FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round

lucy6lucy wrote: 24 Oct 2020, 23:59 A game we would have probably have lost pre-Johnson. You’re never going to beat these teams 10-0. A much welcomed £9,375 to the club. Hopefully we get Skelmersdale away in 1st round and I can be the local person in the crowd.
So glad in a way we didn't stuff them 10-0, the reason being we need to be kept on our toes in ALL games a saunter in the park is fine if your Barcelona but complacency is always around the corner in my experience of watching TUFC for the past 40+ years.
I totally agree, pre GJ, this so could of been a role reversal in the scoreline - just proves how we have come on leaps & bounds since those dark days.

Nobody forced him out it was his decision to leave, the grass isnt always greener & why Mansfield ?
Id've thought at least sign with us again & see what comes in January , could've always put a clause in his contract.
Oh well , some you win some you lose, good luck anyway Jamie.

If proved to be true, I have my reservations though, it'll be a complete & utter waste of talent, his advisors obviously need to be reeled in & shown the exit door & if I was, GJ I'd invite him back for a second chance to prove himself he's worth another shot

Alan Welsh RIP

was saddened that the Herald Express thought it fit to only include a couple of sentences at the end of the Fans' zone column.

The problem.here is the HE have lost its 'encyclopedic' source in Dave Thomas to the Torbay weekly, GUY HENDERSON & RICHARD HUGHES are just not up to the job ( in all fairness Hughes does cover a lot more than TUFC for the paper & other media outlets)
Yes I agree youd've thought being a torbay news outlet Torquay United news would be a boon for the paper but it seems not these days.

Couldn't agree more.
In Leroys auto biography ' It's only banter '
He remarks on how 'Hockers' was an integral part of that 03/04 squad .
Would we have been as effective without him ? No definitely not, every squad needs a 'Hockers' , can Buse fulfill that roll ? or more importantly will GJ adopt a position within the match day team for that type of player ?

2020-21 Season Start

desperado wrote: 20 Aug 2020, 19:26 See we are 12th favourites at 20/1 with Betway for the title.
Notts County 9/2 favourites followed by Stockport, Yeovil, Hartlepool and rather surprisingly Dagenham unless they have made some big signings ? Struggled last season as did Wrexham and Chesterfield who are next on the list just because they are big clubs presumably. Don't suppose many thought Harrogate would go up at the start of last season. There's bound to be another small,
unfancied club up there this time as well.
' Small unfancied club ' !
Well that's us isn't it ? Little old Torquay !! The annoying little brat of a sibling who just won't leave you alone & go away.
That's what we need to be, annoying little shits who just won't go away until they get exactly what they want.
20/1 ? That's worth a punt if anyone's money surely.
Ill be sticking a score on , not too sure about champions but playoffs is well within our reach.

Thing is fred, we need Little being that different class for 90+minutes week in week out not just 20-30 mins every 10-15 fixtures.
We're not a club that can carry a player on a decent contract & not deliver week in week out, it's a harsh world in lower league pro football , any other business wouldn't entertain employing anyone who only turns up for work 15- 20 times a year.
A fit Armani Little is an asset to any club at our level, but right now he's not, is he ?
