Transfer talk.

We are a national league club & the players in our shopping basket are going to be promising youngsters, experienced pros or realists.
Get used to it , we ain't going to be spending mega cash on ' marque ' players at every turn.
As said before GJ is a past master at this & he has a set budget to work with, if the budget was shite then I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be here !
Titles are won in may just ask Sutton, playoffs are won on the last game of the season, just ask Hartlepool, all we need to do is stay in touch.

Whitfield Signs for Stockport County

Players come players go, its football at this level there are better players out here available & who's to say we wont get one to replace a crocked Whitfield ?
Let's be honest in the latter stages of the season he became far to easy to defend against & he lost that bit of magic he possessed ( teams worked him out)
Good luck to him I say, the grass isnt always greener but in tradition of the lower league footballers money ( probably ) talks & they've always been some sort of mercenaries on that score, loyalty hardly exists at our level & if it does you'll probably be accused of stagnating.
We should be proud that other 'rivals' want our players & of the 3 that have departed only the loss of Lucas brothers me.

New Kit

Maybe pro direct are in conjunction with Nike, financing the shirt 'sponsorship' with the 1899 logo .
As mentioned logos such as sparkworld, mod dec skatestore et al are fine firms but do have a tendency to 'cheapen' the shirts image
We'll never know the full extent of the deal TUFC have struck with pro direct but it's pretty obvious both parties are benefiting.
And in all honesty at 54 years old I for one am happy I haven't got ' Percy's pizza ' or ' Larry's launderette ' plastered all over my chest on a Saturday afternoon mind you my granddaughter wanted to know why I had my birth date on my football shirt when she saw my black centenary shirt ! I'll forgive her as she's only 7.

Culmstock Gull.
You say criticism I say it's a personal observation of what I've seen over the last season.
Opinions will vary but at least it'll keep the close season interesting.
I couldn't see what others saw in Elliot Benyon or Tony Bedeau for example, yes they scored a few but when you are brought up with the likes of Stevie Cooper, Alan Little & John Turner it's hard to see otherwise.

Forgot Umerah - a barn door striker who is not getting anywhere near as much out of himself as his physique should allow.
Even when Wright was out he couldn't get near the starting lineup which should tell us all that he probably couldn't ( or wouldn't ) follow GJ's instructions hence why hes not being persisted with & more to the point other CF''s have more than likely been identified.
We all should know by now, present day, TUFC arent conducive to telling the world & his wife their business until THEY feel it necessary .
Patience is key & we'll all have to wait for official news, frustrating as it is, it's been this way for a while now .
As said elsewhere before, GJ wouldn't have signed a new deal if one hand was going to tied behind his back, we just have to trust the Torquay way.

Whitfield - crocked
Cameron- crocked but cannot deny him his move
Nemane - crocked, do we have another opi on our hands
Covolan - cannot deny him a move to the EFL
Waters - not consistent enough
Buse - not good enough despite 110% commitment from him
Macdonald- a fairly decent no' 2 keeper, plenty more of them out there though
Little - will he or wont he ? Not really arsed tbh, hasn't set the world alight whilst hes been here.
Andrews- needs to be fitter
Moxey - centre half cover
Wright - worth persisting with for his experience @ this level
Lemonheigh Evans - my poy
Wynter - class act
Randell- will be a huge miss this year
Sherring - as Randell
Boden - we can do better than him
Kimpioka - may be worth another go
Dont know about anything of the 2 young first year pro's let go to comment.
Gary knows what he wants & it looks as if CO is backing him so let's all see.

Are some Referees Corrupt?

Southampton Gull wrote: 23 Jun 2021, 09:07 Saying no officials are corrupt is just idiocy.
Corruption is rife in society so I'm sure more than one ref is. Do I think the official from Sundays game is? No, he's just another inept referee.

I accepted our defeat immediately. Was I happy about it? Obviously not but our luck has been missing all year after our exceptional start to the season. It seems lady luck wasn't in our side but I feel this season has been uplifting and its been a pleasure witnessing our journey.

Time to move on and start thinking about next season now.
Entirely agree on every word, well said that man.
Now onwards & upwards

Now then
' is Simon Mather Teigngull in disguise ' ?
If he was then surely he wouldn't have been allowed to officiate this match because of a distinct lack of neutrality !
Is Simon Mather corrupt ? NO of course he's not you daft sods, he got more than one decision wrong & if it was the other way around we'd all be as pleased as hell.
It takes me back to the late 80's early 90's when after entering the old social club in the corner of the pop side, the first thing we'd do is check who's reffing the game & if a certain Mr K Cooper of Pontypridd was officiating it was pretty damn sure nailed on a Torquay victory was unlikely ! Was he corrupt ? NO, was he useless ? YES in our eyes he was.
But to suggest we have corrupt officials in our game is pathetic, we lost a football match in controversial circumstances, we missed 3 penalties & as GJ rightly says you can't expect to win if you do that.

Southampton Gull wrote: 10 Jun 2021, 22:20 Who gave it to you?
Certainly not YOU !
Where exactly have I said I dont want us to win ?
I do, I really do, but we are an injury ravaged squad who aren't playing to the standards we set early season, too reliable on Wright, Whitfield etc, the back up we have ( apart from Boden maybe) is, at best, hit & miss & the failure to put teams like Barnet to bed after leading 2-0 is a season long trait that this squad of ours has as its weakest point.
We cannot defend a lead we always concede stupid self inflicted goals which in turn piles the pressure back on ourselves leading to poor game management
If you watch GJ at times like these , the poor old bugger is tearing out what ever hair he has left on his head & after match interviews are by & large on the subject of game management & players affecting the game in the eight way.
So once again I really hope we can prevail in this playoff campaign but I have my reservations
