Presumably Hall would be a certainty to play if he was in (and preferably up and running) rather than out standing (like a spectator) ........Hammdog2601 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2018, 13:37 Keating won’t start. Means you’re dropping Hall? He’s been out standing. Evans comes straight back in for me. We missed him Saturday

If the cap fits wear it Teigngull: are you agreeing with Merse (in which case the comment re the ref is total b@!!ocks) or disagreeing (in which case the comment re the penalty is total b@!!ocks)?Teigngull wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 08:53 Umm really ?
To be frank here, & I mean this with respect for the difficult job they do, the referee seemed to be trying to referee the match from the 'white board' scenario instead of taking the awful conditions into account & refereeing accordingly.
Merse states that it was a penalty & even gives us a synopsis of the reasons why he feels it was !
Fair do's , we have to get used to the fact refereeing at this level is somewhat flawed, unfortunately it's where we are right now, To have that decision to against us was annoying & thankfully it didn't cost us but what if the incident was the other way round ? Just think about that for a sec .
As to the 'thoughts' of the Welling manager, what a load of twaddle, If they'd come away with a result it wouldve been something like " oh yes,the referee was justified in letting the game to ahead, we were totally in control of the conditions, blah blah blah etc etc " .
Some of these Managers need to take a long hard look at them selves & realise what they're saying is total b@!!ocks most of the time, I don't know whether I'm hearing him through angel laced hearing aids but ever since Gary J has been with us he has talked nothing but sense, the voice of a true pro who knows what he's doing.
It's great to be a Torquay fan at the moment, anybody else noticed we've been mention favourably on the exeweb & pasoti forums too ? Good to see we're beginning to be noticed again if only because we're no threat to either of them , for now that is !

Oh Merse you font of knowledge way beyond the ken of merely mortal men, pray tell us why the dinosaurs became extinct (facts not opinions please) and how you alone thereof survived. Then let us into the secret of how it is that you are such a wise and sagacious oracle and inform us how you manage to restrain your self-importance with such becoming modesty. Gowling is no better or worse than most of the other centre backs who have plied their trade at Plainmoor during the last 20 years, but he does have experience in his favour. If there are issues between him and the manager then they are both at fault but if Owers excludes Gowling because of personal animosity then that is bad management. On the evidence of last season Gowling ought to be a valued member of the Torquay squad: that he is not may be a case of Owers impersonating Tycho Brahe (look him up Teigngull - he never played for Torquay).

If I want to engage with an arsehole I will talk to my own. I don't actually care whether Reid was shite or not, but saying his career is going down the pan - nice work.
I will say it again - this constant bullying of Reid is pathetic, and the hounding of the manager isn't much better. Presumably all supporters want the team to succeed although this doesn't appear to be the case on here.

New kit on the way?
No fancy colour co-ordination in those days if your shorts weren't white they were black and if the kit wasn't Umbro it was Bukta ........... or so I'm told. (Teams apart from England probably only had navy blue shorts when the colour faded in the wash)Jerry wrote: ↑15 Jul 2018, 18:05 Indeed they were. Yellow shirts with blue sleeves and black shorts for the first five years of the "yellow" era (1954-59).

Why block Merse, when he provides the kind of entertainment that Alf Garnett used to ? Merse certainly isn't my nemesis - I don't care enough about him for that to happen - and as for getting under my skin, it's quite the opposite: "Big fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em, Little fleas have littler fleas and so ad infinitum ..." - Merse is the Big flea in this context.sgf wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 17:23 Why don't you just block him, he's clearly your nemesis! He really gets under your skin doesn't he?
I don't think Merse was implying he should have won medals at Torquay. Merely the fact that he thinks he's too good for the NLS
Just saying.
IMO he's mad if he doesn't go. Playing with better players will only improve him and wish him all the best.
Merse's opinion is clearly that he's not good enough. Can you disagree with a post without getting personal?
Of course I can disagree with a post without getting personal but the empty vessels that I lampoon are the first ones to bandy insults, which makes them fair game for the same treatment. Why is Young called "Billy Big Bollocks" just because he feels that he can play at a higher level than Torquay are capable of achieving as a team ? He's not exactly claiming that Man City have head-hunted him, but Merse has to have a dig because he doesn't like Young, so I think that makes Merse a fair target. You are entitled to your interpretation of the meaning of Merse's words, just as I am entitled to my interpretation. Young has won trophies at Torquay - which Merse would realise - so the jibe about medals is clearly meant to be derogatory.
I do agree with your sentiments about Young's destiny and I agree that he is "Not irreplaceable......" but, nothing personal, I do not agree with your comments regarding Merse:
Just saying!

As usual, Bitter Billy Big Mouth Merse demonstrates what an ignorant buffoon he is.merse btpir wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 14:08 Exactly; coming from a player who has known nothing but failure and struggle accross the two clubs he has played for, that's a bit rich.....
Show us your medals then Billy Big Bollocks!
Tell us Mighty Merse, what medals should Young have won with Torquay United?
Of course, it is obvious that the reason why Young has won nothing (other than the respect of the fans who have seen him play and don't share Merse's predilection for pompous pontification) is entirely due to his own inadequacies, coupled with those of the former manager known as Nicho, as it can have nothing to do with the failings of the other members of the team: that must be why Young received the Player of the Year award - again.
Summer must be a time of drought for you Merse, with little opportunity to dazzle your fawning followers with displays of your erudite wit and sharply incisive critical appraisals, or do you move your soapbox to Hyde Park Corner?

Could it be that Young and Keating who were supposed to have 2 year contracts were on 1 year contracts with a second year option in the player's favour? Perhaps Merse would enlighten us.

As you would know, and indeed demonstrate at every possible opportunity, you do not have to be an expert either to have or to voice an opinion. That is the point of the forum - a point that bigoted egotists like yourself appear to miss. It would be very good to see Torquay United being successful next season - particularly as the nucleus of the team will be ex-Nicholson players if they agree the contracts which they have apparently been offered.Teigngull wrote: ↑02 May 2018, 12:40 And where exactly does your CV on managing a successful professional football team then 'Arry ?
I expect it's within the realms of doesn't exist .
I've got no allegiance to Gary Owers or Martin Khul but for God's sake man get behind him , he isn't going anywhere soon & no doubt if by the chance of a minor miracle we do end up being successful next season what are you going to do then ?
Probably disappear into the ether to eat humble pie, so let's all hope we are a success just to see Arrys reaction.
Was it you that was moaning about making personal insults? Probably not, but without making it seem that you are a total moron could you explain how you think that you will see my reaction if I have disappeared into the ether. Of course I would be delighted if Owers is responsible for making Torquay United a successful professional football team, just as I would be delighted if you were to make a cogent, well reasoned , intelligent post but, whilst the former is hugely more likely than the latter, the chances of either actually occurring are currently buried deep within those renowned "realms of doesn't exist".
I do know that lemmings do not jump off cliffs but I am sure that they would if they had Owers as their leader, so it is obvious that one should get behind him: it is a pity that only Guiseley and Chester felt the same.
