“Game management”.
Sounded like the players put in more of a shift today, but nonetheless we’ve now lost to 2 playoff contenders and shown we can’t compete.
What will it take for a change?

Torquay United v St. Albans - 03rd February 2024.
With people questioning who would come here, let’s not forget that we are one of the few full time, professional clubs in the division. We’re effectively a sleeping giant at this level who should at least be in the national league, if not league 2. Let’s not allow how far we have fallen to cloud the memory of where we once were accustomed to be.
We have some reasonable players, we’re just outside the play offs so a fresh approach with new management that bring a sense of commitment, desire and resolve will improve results.
If this can be combined with a least a modicum of tactical prowess then we can start to ascend again.
So TUFC is a great prospect for a manager who has the hunger and desire to take the club back to where we belong.
There are some decent clubs and players in this division and above, but it really is a mixed bag so confidence is king at this level and the whole team are lacking in this area, starting from the top. You only need to watch the latest GJ interview to see how deflated he is.
This is why change is needed and now.

We need a change in energy and focus. Any new manager will bring this, along with a change in connections.TorquayUnited wrote: ↑03 Feb 2024, 16:00 So name me one manager that is going to come here full time???
A sacked ex football league manager???
Wouldn't come anywhere near this level.
A upcoming manager going to give up his job and life to go full time.
Ok then.
Give me 3 names by full time??
Let's see how deluded you are.
We’re close to hitting our lowest point ever so change is ESSENTIAL.
It would be difficult for a new manager to do any worse quite frankly

Halstead / Lovett
Out of curiosity does anyone have any data that compares the win ratio and goals conceded when Halstead is in goal vs Lovett?

Why have we had such a consistent injury crisis under Gary Johnson? Is it the training methods or the surfaces the team are training on?

Well, we do need some experience and if we’re struggling to sign players then what’s the difference between 1 x 75 year old and two 32.5 year oldsGriff1n wrote: ↑01 Nov 2023, 15:18 We don’t want Noone, he’s 75 FFS :-

George Edwards
We’ve had plenty of decent players on loan and on permanent deals over the years - granted, National League South makes it less appealing but location simply is not a good enough excuse.
It’s crazy how some of the best players that have played under Gary Johnson’s tenure were signed by Gary Owers, who as it happens had an eye for a decent player but just couldn’t get the team to perform.
Is Pete Johnson actually on the payroll? By all accounts he does not appear to add anything to the club.

Steve_TUFC wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 14:27 So it comes down to two sides of excuses:
Southampton Gull - no budget. Keep Johnson.
George Edwards - budget available but it’s our location. Keep Johnson.
Strange - I’m sure we had a team capable of winning the NL playoff final only a few seasons ago, must have been a fluke.
Either way just sack Gary Johnson, horrible arrogant man.

Hemel Hempstead Town v Torquay United, 23rd September 2023
Shocking end result.
The reality is we’ve always had a poor defence at best under GJ but we look particularly frail right now, even with Halstead keeping the shots at bay where he can.
We got away with it when we won the NLS due to our sheer attacking prowess when we would generally outscore the opposite irrespective of how many we conceded.
We had Reid, Janneh, CLE, Nemane, Opi Edwards, Kalala, Vincent, Andrews then - some of whom went through ups and downs but all contributed to a goal scoring machine.
Ok, if we’d won today we could have been close to the top but it seems that now we have neither attacking prowess nor defensive capabilities which is going to make this season feel like an uphill struggle if something doesn’t change soon.
We need a decent centre back to shore up the back and some creativity from the midfield otherwise I fear the disappointments will keep coming.

Got my ticket today.
I am no longer Bristol Gull as moved to Bournemouth in January so it would be great to meet fellow local yellows at the game!

Does anyone have any injury stats of Johnson’s tenure vs previous management? I’m pretty sure this is a pattern that is associated with GJ!
