Torquay v Hornchurch Sat 15th Feb 3pm

Neil Williams 53 wrote: 12 Feb 2025, 15:19 My concern will be the referee. I have watched two games this season officiated by Emily Heaslip. She is a card happy maniac and prone to bizarre decision making. If players start pulling and shoving at set pieces expect to see cards produced and don’t be surprised if it’s red!
Holy sh!t! .... after I saw her officiate at the Tonbridge v Eastbourne game a couple of weeks ago I thought she'd have been sacked from reff'ing any kind game let alone another NLS fixture. As you say, bizarre decision making... one of which was to award a freekick to Eastbourne when it was one of the Tonbridge players was fouled and then put her hand on her chest and I heard her say, 'oh, sorry, I thought you were kicking the other way'.... yep, this is going to be fun!

Only yesterday I learnt of the sad passing of former Tonbridge Angels player Devonte Aransibia who was only 26. And today we get this really sad news about Tony at the age of 45 who was, as mentioned above, a firm favourite with the Plainmoor faithful. It really does put life into perspective.

Sad times. Rest in Peace Tony

Torquay v Hornchurch Sat 15th Feb 3pm

The Urchins did us a Wraight favour last night with their 2-1 over Boreham Wood and will visit Plainmoor on Saturday full of confidence and looking to do the double over us this season.

But they won't. Another big crowd at TQ1 will help us get sweet revenge for the 2-1 reversal in Upminster back in October.

Congrats to budegull1954, kerswellgull, swindon gull and torregull who all predicted the correct score for our visit to Woodside Road.

portugull's 1-1 takes him to 2nd place just 1 point behind joint leaders Hornblower2 and leetufc. Very tight at the top now with only 3 points separating the top 12.

Congrats to gullsgullsgulls as the only predictor to get the correct 2-0 home win (no doubt those who had gone for 1-0 were a trifle miffed when Mussa struck late on).

Sorry DGulls, your entry, although spot-on, was submitted after kick-off (I'd already denied Dave_Pougher his late prediction for the Chesham game back in August so had to be fair).

Anyways, not a lot of movement in the table with Hornblower2 and leetufc still leading the way.

Worthing v Torquay Tues 11 Feb 7:45pm

This is going to be our toughest test of the season so far. Having seen Worthing play as recently as last Saturday, I can assure you that they love to play football the way it should be played - on the ground. And, personally, I don't think the 5-1 mauling of us in the FA Trophy was a 'fluke'.

My heart obviously wants a win here, but my head is telling me otherwise. So, for the first time this season I'm going to go with a defeat.

Worthing 3 Torquay 0

No correct score prediction this week with a handful picking up 1 point for the correct result (ie home win). One day we might even pick up a point at Maidstone - that is 6 straight defeats in 6 visits.... I bl**dy hate going to that ground!

Hornblower2 and leetufc extend their lead at the top to 2 points.

Maidstone v Torquay Sat 1st Feb 3pm

It's that time again. A visit to Legoland to take on one of our bogey sides (we've never so much as picked up a single point in five visits).

It pains me to say it, but they currently sit above us in both the league table and form guide so it doesn't bode well for Saturday.

Last time out, new league leaders Worthing handed them there first home defeat in 10 games. Let's hope we can make it their second in two!

No longer can we stand alongside the boys in their beloved Gekko stand and have them gloating when/if they score as they have switched things around and now away fans are located in a soulless corner of the stadium (get there early if you're a short-arse like me! ... and, not sure if they've sorted their catering issues, so bring a pasty or two along).

For those of you who've never had the 'pleasure' of visiting Legoland and are coming by car/tractor, there is virtually no parking at the ground but there are a couple of multi-storeys within walking distance (Fremlin Walk being quite close by and one I've used on several occasions).

I'd be happy with (another) draw on the road, but I'd be even happier with any kind of win.

So, here we go.... Maidstone 0 Torquay 3

Time for a decent win methinks. Back home after two very disappointing away results (yes, we should've won them both, but didn't).
