I don't know why everyone is looking forward to January, there is no restriction on National League clubs (with the exception of Wrexham) signing players at any point of the season.
What can happen though is that EFL clubs (and Wrexham) can try and buy our players in the window. If CLE and Little went in the window I would say we would be in deep shit.

Only three go down this season.dawlishmatt wrote: ↑24 Nov 2021, 10:59 SNW, If throwing insults at me is the best you can do, well you're more pathetic than I thought. It is obvious that people like you only come on forums like this to insult people. You are a sad pathetic individual. Yes I am a gambling man and I love a challenge. Are you brave enough to put £1,000 not £50 on the bet you previously mentioned. I am prepared to send Southampton Gull the sum of £1,000 ( if he agrees) to hold as my part of the bet, are you man enough to do the same?. The bet is that if Gary Johnson is still our manager at the end of the season, we will finish in the bottom 4 of the league.

That is an interesting theory and in the light of Notts County trying and succeeding to break the National League attendance record by offering tickets for a fiver the other week sounds very plausible indeed.culmstockgull wrote: ↑21 Nov 2021, 09:10 Call me cycnical but I did wonder why we have been artifically inflating the crowds by the best part of a thousand over the last month, then I see the premier has just released a further 25 million to div1, 2 and the national, before we get excited , its being released over three seasons and our portion of 5 million will be divided between our league and the north and south , primarily to make up for crowd loss and covid restrictions and guess what, the money allocated will be based on average crowds amongst other things, before we get too excited I reckon we will see enough for a good christmas staff party and a set of corner flags.

Travelling up on the day instead of an overnight stay suggests the budget has been slashed. Have the owners written off the season?Younonothing wrote: ↑20 Nov 2021, 21:03 Didn't help the team turning up at 2.10 with kick off at 3, long journey just to get off coach and play !!!

Why wait until January? There's no transfer window in the National League.

What last night proves is that talk of us not being able to compete this season because four clubs splurged a load of cash was bullshit. Unfortunately we didn't spend our little pile very wisely so are probably going to miss out this season.

Peter Johnson comes as part of a set with Gary Johnson. Do you think at his time of life, when his Football career is coming to an end Gary Johnson would risk a family feud by not sticking by his brother who has served him well in the pass.JimNichol'sdog wrote: ↑23 Oct 2021, 21:13
I would suggest that the problem lies with another Johnson, his brother, Peter. If he were not the manager's brother he would have been gone long ago.
My advice would be for the club to invest in a highly experienced chief scout with widespread knowledge of players in Leagues 1 & 2 and the three National Leagues.
If as you suggest the club sack Pete Johnson then Gary Johnson will almost certainly resign.

Yes Johnson is culpable for recruiting these players but I can't any other manager coming in and being able to do anything with them, they're that bad.

Because he is under contract, and he will stay on the pay roll until either another club wants him or he can be persuaded to leave but that will still cost the club some form of compensation.JimNichol'sdog wrote: ↑10 Oct 2021, 19:55 Why is Marcin Brzozowski still on the payroll when the management team evidently doesn't consider him to be fit for purpose??

Pure sour grapes of the part of some of our supporters. I agree with you totally and it doesn't reflect well on the maturity of some posters.forevertufc wrote: ↑30 Sep 2021, 08:30 I, for the life don't understand why some seem to have felt the need, to start a personal vendetta against Tshimanga. ..............no need to miss spell his name, or refer to him as not god enough because of it, that's embarrassing.

Sorry, but where in Brucie's original post did he say Johnson should be sacked? He's simply pointing out that the recruitment this summer leaves something to be desired and he is right.Dazza wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021, 20:14 It’s one thing carping away Brucie, another actually doing anything vaguely positive. So we have two older aged forwards who aren’t scoring at the moment. And some forwards we had last year who are.Is that enough to sack a manager who overall has been one of our more successful ones?. If so, apart from a casual remark about the Weymouth guy, who are no longer winning, who are you touting to take over.. .? Truth is it’s very easy to make cheap shots from Bideford about supposed poor management another to actually even suggest, let alone undertake, the alternative way forward.

Seeing that Gary Johnson can have a player in tears and see fit to make it public, I wouldn't think our players would be suitably motivated by that either.happytorq wrote: ↑16 Sep 2021, 21:04 Phil Brown really seems like a manager from another era entirely. One of those who thinks that shouting at people and making them do long runs will somehow motivate. Heck, maybe he's right and the Shrimpers will play like a team possessed this weekend, but it's hard not to think that some of the players will say 'yeah, you can screw yourself' and they'll be in even more strife.
I, for one, hope his team have a shocker on Saturday![]()

We offered him a contract, he got a better offer and took it. It happens all the time in football and all walks of life.
Fact is he’s no better than NL standard so if he can enhance his and his families standard of living with a sideways move then good luck to him.
If GJ wanted him to stay that much he should have offered a better deal.
Time for everyone to move on and focus on the here and now.
