Time to be Together if you “support “ Torquay United F.C.

goody2449 wrote: 18 Feb 2018, 19:34 What is TUST actually doing? we don't hear from them for weeks on end? absolute no representation at the stadium on match days, of course we're gonna be cynical.
Last post from TUST was 2 days ago and contained some interesting and relevant news.

TUST Updates

In my opinion, the most important thing that TUST needs to do now is to get the right people into position with the required structure around them. Hopefully this will commence at the meeting, with any action then able to be implemented properly. This is why I have joined TUST now, so that what little funds I give can be used to this effect.

Joining forces with truro ?

Can anyone explain to me the advantage of Truro having a ground share arrangement with Torquay? I realise there would be savings presumably from not having their own ground, but it seems ridiculous to play in a ground so far away. Are there no options nearer to them like the rugby ground at Redruth?

Joining forces with truro ?

How many packets of crisps would it take to arrange a Harrop/Masters exchange? ☺️

TUST Updates

One of the many things that TUST will need to do is to appoint a media-savvy spokesperson. Someone who knows how to get points across crisply and effectively. This is no criticism of the current leadership - it is an art form which some people are born with. Ideally someone with media experience.

With the right person many of Osborne's statements can be demolished decisively in the press. He has no grasp of dealing with the media, preferring to be something of a recluse. We can use that to our advantage.

Club Statement

Let's be clear. The only reason for this statement today is that TUST and fans on the forums have started to become much more organised and vocal.

So we need to look past the content of the statement and realise that all of us have forced the Club to speak out. It is an early sign that as we grow stronger we will prevail.

To those who have not yet joined TUST, please do so quickly.

Well done everyone.

TUST STATEMENT 10th January 2018

I've just joined. Not much I can do here in Poole except support by means of a subscription and vote when the opportunity arises.

I have happy memories of TUFC during my young years until I left Torquay for work elsewhere. But I went to school next door in what then was Homelands Technical High School - we had several sports days on the ground.

I have no doubt that the growing support for TUST will translate into a force of supporters that must be listened to. Maybe we can bring about changes that will provide a long term solution to the problems at the Club.

I get that it took far too long, and there was plenty of occasions over the last few weeks where I thought that this might be the moment that GI and Harrop make the move that dooms the club, by appointing Robbie or anyone else costing truck all, showing that relegation is not something that bothers them.

They haven't done this. Owers may seem a little underwhelming at first, but is qualified to the teeth at this level, in a way that neither Nicho or Herrera were. To add to this, we've signed Kuhl as number 2, who has even better coaching qualifications, and a huge web of contacts at Category 1 academy level and below. This is ideal in our position, and fits the talk of our building the club by developing the young players who are released from the higher level academies, to make the club sustainable. I also don't really have a problem with Harrop being part of this comittee. He may get a lot of stick but he knows more than most about the workings of a football club, especially at a youth/academy level, and during his career has probably built up a significant list of contacts himself. He's certainly not signed two yes men underneath him, and for the first time in a long time we now have a core of people in the club who actually know what they're talking about.

I'm suspicious as hell of GI, as they have money at heart, not Torquay. Having said that they've spent a hell of a lot of money that they didn't have to, from re-laying the pitch which won our Groundsman the 2016-17 National League Groundsman of the Year Award, to refreshing the clubs branding, and now sacking a failing but cheap management team, and replacing them with a hopefully fit for purpose but expensive duo, paying off Nicho and Bath City in the process. Maybe we missed out on a preferred candidate, maybe Harrop cocked up leading to delays, it doesn't matter. Keep half an eye on Osborne and GI, but get behind the team again, the new guys deserve it, and they've already made moves for 1 or 2 new players.

Not if those Nicholson signs have sick notes, are icecream salesmen or past their sell-by date. Come to think of it, if he does get Bath, then maybe we could offer him some players.

I think we all owe Ray a vote of thanks for arranging for Paul Cox to come back to Torquay. Undoubtedly this is why he joined the forum. :) :}

SACK NICHOLSON!!

Blaming the budget is just an excuse. As is the location. There have been many posts on this forum suggesting up and coming players from lower divisions who would give their right arm to play in a club like this. Get rid of half our team and sign these youngsters. Two things would then happen - firstly it would cut the wages bill, and secondly we would have a team putting their all into the game. Yes we would lose matches, but at least we would have a team we were proud of and which would improve as time went by.

Fan Survey Results

According to the survey parking is a problem, only 16% saying it was good or very good. The Club's response is that it is outside of their control. I was suggesting some help with this issue in line with what others have posted on this forum.

In any case, if attendance can be increased significantly, what then?
