Pete Johnson

An almost inevitable move, seing as Gary and Peter follow each other job to job.

One player the pair will know and scouted is Dan Holman.

Now at Aldershot, after poor spells at Boreham Wood & Leyton Orient and not being EFL standard for Cheltenham. Gary was his manager and Peter scouted him at Cheltenham/Woking. 30 goals in that season

Mr Owers steps down

Was he on a full time or part time contact at Maidstone?

I had a look at his Wikipedia after his name was suggested as one to consider. He has 4 children, would he be prepared to move his family down to Devon I wonder.

Would he have to commute ala Paul Cox, or would he move down to the area? If not, it wouldn't be sustainable long term..

Depressing, mainly because nothing will be done at all.

Just pathetic.

You've posted the same thing twice.

TIME FOR ACTION BUT IT MUST BE LAWFUL.

Just watching the Manchester City documentary, recently released.

Noel Gallagher at 07:10

''We kept this club going, there wouldn't be a club if it wasn't for the people who supported them in the 3rd division for start. So we deserve it, fans of a certain age, we deserve all that's going on there now.''

Whilst lower league fans can't relate to the level of turn around in a football club or the success that MCFC have enjoyed. The message from NG remains & is always something I hope for TUFC.

It's a horrendous period in the clubs history, ''better days/times'' are possible. I hope apathy, due to incompetence from the club, doesn't see the supporter base disappear for good and end in the inevitable death of the club as a result.

A football club without the fans are nothing, TUFC are pushing the fans away and it works into the hands of certain people if that does continue to happen. :'(

SWgull wrote: 19 Aug 2018, 21:28 If you were in Reid's position, what would you do? Be honest with yourself. Would you really come over to clap and get more abuse from the 'fans' or would you do as he has done and get down the tunnel? I think I know the answer to that one don't you??
Jamie Reid got no verbal abuse yesterday, that I heard.

Sure there were groans when he missed his sitter second half, but no verbal abuse.

Even a few chorus' of "Reidy" was heard from behind the goal.

I personally don't feel the management or players owe the fans a wave/applause etc at the games end. But common courtesy would lead you to feel somewhat obliged to show some gratification for turning up, surely.

Deep down we know that we are stuck with him.

Professional football club my arse!

Like with Nicholson, there's no way a manager should have the flexibility to sign his players and go after 4 games. Go in the summer or he has to get time.

He'd have gone in the summer if I had a choice.

Facing Reality

Porky wrote: 18 Aug 2018, 10:31 I just think what someone like Cyril Knowles would do with this team in this league. He took over, by and large, the squad which almost got relegated and turned them into promotion contenders.
I don't think Gary owers is the answer, but I'm going to stay positive.
I'd echo that and suggest the same with a Roy McFarland.

Found the season highlights of the 01/02 season in the shed and watched it this morning. Roy Mac took over after Colin Lee following the Barnet relegation decider.

Adding Alex Russell straight away and Kevin Dearden who was our player of the year. As the season wore on Steve Woods, Reuben Hazell, Lee Canoville, Jason Fowler all came in.

Roy Mac wasn't able to get that team into the force they would become under Leroy the following season, infact just avoiding relegation. But he laid the foundation for a successful team. Is that happening now? Hmmm.

Just seems that some so called fans get off on being negative and down about everything. F** me Torquay just won the league ... quick, find someone to blame
I think it equally as weird when some choose to stick their head in the sand as to what's unfolding around them, or worse - are not bothered.

"Torquay are moonwalking their way into an oblivion.. I don't care  "

I moan about the club (with reason) because I care and want the best for club.

I want Gowling to stay....

Good riddance.

- He wasnt going to be available for 3g pitches.
- He's the wrong side of 30.
- Transfer listed for a reason and only gets a loan move to end his TUFC career!

Transfer listed because (speculation time); he doesnt want to be at TUFC, not value for money, doesn't get on with the manager/team mates. Goes on social media, makes an accusation and is forced to delete it. Cant hack it in Devon, the travelling. Or just not rated by the manager.

New kit on the way?

Chelsea had a kit at Huddersfield Town today, made by Nike, which resembled a Torquay United kit.

Torquay United, with a Nike kit, resemble a kit worn by Watford FC or Burton Albion.

I don't get it.

Expectations for the forthcoming season in NLS

jimhart33 wrote: 02 Aug 2018, 14:30 Pleased to see TUFC have taken the initiative to give TUFC Season Ticket holders free access to Truro V Billericay on Saturday. As many as poss should go to cheer on Truro for this one match.
Each to their own.

I wouldn't feel that a divisional rival need TUFC fans to turn out in support of them.

Makes sense for Torquay to offer free entry to season ticket holders. A greater chance of selling some food and drink for the club I suppose.
