Johnson said in an interview the other day that offers had been rejected.
Could see Moxley staying on as a player/coach. Do have a bit more faith in our no 2 keeper after the Stockport game. You forgot Lapslie.

Southend vs Torquay United 15.5.22
We have 4 first team players injured, of course the bench will be sparse. The season was only over around 3 weeks ago, after we put in a fantastically consistent run since Christmas.Nick Potkins wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 14:58 For me the season can't finish soon enough, its been over for months since our poor start. Today's bench sums things up, poor. The retained list and recruitment is eagerly awaited. COYY![]()

Just how important is next season?
So, I'm right in thinking next season is the last in the 5 season plan?
Would Clarke commit to another 5 whatever the outcome of next season? Doubtful.
If we aren't promoted, it seems unlikely he'll commit to more years of loaning TUFC money. A million a year is it we're losing? If so, who will come in, pay him the money owed and commit to pumping more cash in?
If we're promoted, would he push for the new stadium? Or decide this is the optimum time to recoup his money.
I feel Gary is by far the best manager we've had since Leroy, and our best chance at promotion. But again, I assume next season is his last contracted to us.
So is next season one of the most important in our history?

Pay his contract up?
Where does the money to do that come from? We owe millions as it is. Hes here and may as well see his contract out as our second keeper. If Macd goes, he must still only be our back up.

Player of the season 21/22
Little is too inconsistent. He like many was pretty annoymous yesterday. On his day he can produce fantastic stuff, or put the ball out for a goalkick.
And that may be why he doesn't move to a league club, although I'm sure plenty at our level would be interested.
Mcdonald is much improved from the player who left last season.
CLE has run hot and cold, at times looked far above this division.
So for me it's Lewis or Moxley, both have been consistent all season. Moxley has used all his experience to know when to run or not and therefore last the 90 minutes. And Lewis has likewise been immense.
I'd expect Lewis, CLE, Little and maybe Macd to move on unfortunately. Maybe making Lewis captain could entice him to stay another season.

Pitches are watered in match to zip the ball along, so it's a Gary thing.
Yes I noticed the ground around the sprinklers gets saturated and remains so. And the wings get very little water on them if it's windy.

How do you prove someone's feigning an injury?!
This season we've time wasted, I'm certain we've played the same dark arts as everyone does.
I agree, stopping the clock as they do in rugby is a good idea. Also agree we need the ball boys/girls back, with instruction to retrieve it ASAP. Unless we're 1-0 up with 5 minutes left of course.
Unfortunately we still need to be beating the Eastleighs of the world if we wish to be a league club. With all their negative play, they still had the best chances.

One of those games, and atmospheres that'll stay in the memory.
To witness the Bench and Family stand bouncing!
500 Notts fans sounding like 50.
And to think some wanted Johnson out.

Gary Johnsons philosophy is for attacking entertaining football. He's never hidden that fact, we're not a 0-0 or1-0 team. We're going to score and concede more than others.
Will it achieve us promotion? Probably not this season, but his record speaks for itself.
Personally I'd of liked us to of kept Boden. But we weren't going to have Wright and him.

Wrexham at home
Any news on Wrexhams ticket sales? Assuming they'll sell out.
If we can get some form of recognised striker in, or Wright back fit, there's no reason we can't get something from this game. Expecting our missing defenders back, and after a good break for the whole squad, then who knows.

Can We Make the Play Offs?
What's the point in trying to keep Moore or Lapslie? Both too injury prone, 2 games then out for 5/6/7. we can't afford to have non playing players.
Wright Is great at holding the ball up, giving defenders a hard time, but feel this should be his last season with us. Holman can finish, but needs others to make space for him, or to be set up first.
Asa, no where near the player of last season. Fantastic player for us, but a season too many it seems.
Moxey has a new lease of life, one more season?
Little, CLE, Lewis, Winter may all want to leave, be offered better terms elsewhere. Maybe Lewis could be enticed to stay with the captains armband.
Lolos looked interesting, but no end product at all. And it seems it would take at least another season to start showing it. Ali played well last two games, but has no pace, but not the experiance to compensate as Moxey does.
Loan players will all go back. So would rather we spent the season building for next, Play offs would be no benefit, we're not going to win them.
It feels we may have 3 or 4 players to then build around.

I'd guess CLE, Lewis and Winter may will leave at the end of the season, possibly Little as well.
Can't realistically see Asa Hall here next season, a shadow of last season.
Moxey may get another season, possibly Ali will be given a chance, wholehearted but too slow. Holman and Wright gone, maybe Lapslie too ( injury prone). Lolos not up to it. Loan players back at parent clubs.
So in my mind, a rebuild around 3 or 4 players.
Would love Play offs, but too big a distraction, we're not good enough to go up and stay there. Let's prepare for next season.

Radio Devon and the demise of the BBC
Interesting thread!
I can't compete on the oldest supporter title, I was late to the game by first visiting Plainmoor in 1989. But I remember the old ground and muddy pitches well enough.
Furthest I travelled was Scarborough with around 30 others and watch us lose 1-0, and see Wes Saunders suffer the injury that ended his career. Not as bad as the John Uzzel game though, worst challenge I have seen.
With regard next season, I'm thinking it's the last of the 5 year plan, and promotion therefore has to happen.

We were there for the taking?
The same way they were at the start. We should of been 3-0 up in 20 minutes, or definitely 3-1 at the start of the second half.
Yes they had us under the cosh, but with the players missing, thought it was a determined point from us. Even at the end, we didn't time waste or play into the corners, we still went for a winner.
