Ex-Gull watch

Well you definitely haven’t seen Ash play, it’s his inability to take chances, he got 14 last season but should have had 20 plus. He puts a lot of half chances high or wide, rarely on target, which is a big no no. I hope we have found the right combination to get the best out of him.

Jarvis, I think there are a lot of sour grapes, with everyone seeming to know he was joining Yeovil before they perhaps even did. Maybe it didn’t help being injured and some believing he prolonged it so as not to put his move in jeopardy.

He gave 100% in every match, was strong, bought others into play, although it did feel he started going down the route of just trying to win free kicks more and more as the season wore on.

Nouble and Jarvis were excellent in the games they played together, so may well prove a fantastic signing for them.

That tune has definitely been played at Plainmoor and plenty after 1984. Bring it back back as well, what a tune, brings back memories of my younger self watching Torquay.

There are a few tunes they’ve been playing before and after matches at Plainmoor for decades, I even like the one as your walking out afterwards, keep them all, they’re part of match day for me. Ditch the ridiculous snippet of a tune after a home goal though, it’s embarrassing, then the silence when they don’t play it after an opposition one.

No ones being negative that I can see.

I do seem to remember we were crowned Champions last season before a ball had been kicked.

The issue I have with being over confident is forums like this and our supporters. A bad run and both become toxic and set the fans against each other, the team, the manager. If we have the mindset that we should be steam rolling everyone and it doesn’t happen................ everyone seems to have forgotten how toxic Plainmoor was last season.

A good season would be fantastic, Promotion would be amazing and of course I want that, I hope both happen, I just find it bewildering that some now seem to expect it.

Six weeks ago we were nearly out of business and now people are wanting instant promotion?

New manager, new assistant manager, new owners, maybe 10-15 new players.

Although promotion or being near would be great, let’s ease off on that kind expectation, especially if it’s also from the terraces. We need patience and being supportive, not moaning if we’re not winning every match. How can we be putting pressure on a brand new team, set up, way of playing?
Mid table or above this coming season should be seen as a great sign of progress, anything more is a bonus. Although what’s the point in getting promoted if we’re not ready to stay in the NL.

survey

When my health was better and I stood in the Pop side I sometimes didn’t make my mind up whether I was going or not until 2.30 and I’ve never been one for having a drink before hand. Now I need to sit, so it’s just easier for me to have a ST in Bristows. I know for certain I wouldn’t visit Plainmoor so often if I had to pay a surcharge or go to an office to get a ticket on the day. Some people just want to decide and turn up at the turnstile.

To enable cashless tickets, maybe certain sections of Bristows and the Family stand are simply reserved for those supporters. Do it before we open up for Season Ticket sales, so those areas are solely for cash/card customers and they simply get whichever seat they are given. Pop side is more straight forward as people can obviously just choose where to stand.

I’ve had food once in the ground, was over priced and wasn’t great.

I do wish they’d open up the Away end for us at the end of a match, having just that one exit is frustrating especially if standing isn’t so easy, like for me. We have to walk past/through the Away supporters anyhow once we’ve left the ground.

That’ll rule out either Hall or Moxey staying on as player/coach.

Sounds reasonable, Hall showed versatility last season but we can’t have players missing 20 odd games, same with Lapslie. Moxey looked pretty decent all season (apart from being turned for that goal at Yeovil) and as a player coach should be a win win. Ash scored 14 I think, but with better finishing could have had 20 or more, needs the right player beside him, take it Noble is staying at Yeovil?

So who does that leave from our last squad? Martin just has to be a no, same with Duane. Marshall?

No friendly so far, but with the Warnock and Wotton connection you’d expect it to happen. Would be great to get 5k in if we did.

Lapslie out for the season?

Well he can’t have been in a hurry to have the op, he was sat on Torre Abbey beach with Stobbs about a week ago when we had our one hot day.

First pre season games announced

Fair play to us and Exeter, after last pre season.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game against Exeter, but looking back it was poor form. These matched should be competitive, but still in essence a kick around. That went way beyond that.

Exeter could have said thanks but no thanks. So good work from the two clubs to move forward. Hopefully a Plymouth friendly should be added to the list as well.

New manager announced - Paul Wotton

I think we can understand your reservations, however the two have worked together before and Wotton seems a strong enough personality to know his own mind. He must have asked the same questions you did and agreed/talked through all what Warnock being around would entail.

Warnock isn’t being paid, it’s obviously a part time thing where he has control on his time given. He has stated his intention to not manage, or even visit the training ground, might this change if we go through a bad patch, who knows?

It does feel though that he wants to enjoy the nice parts of football now, not the stressful/time and energy consuming side, using his expertise to help with the behind the scenes stuff and hopefully enjoying just watching it all develop. It’s got to be a win win for us.

New manager announced - Paul Wotton

The last week couldn’t have been better, when you think we could actually no longer have had a club. To think we have Warnock onboard with all the football know how and contacts that brings.

He’s working for free, so his visits may be few and far between, he’s expressed that his management days are over. Laughable that some are trying to make something out of nothing, why all the secrecy if he was in fact actually in charge?

I only imagine he could take over for a short interim spell if things don’t work out with Paul and we end up needing another manager. Nothing more!

Great to see we have repaired the relationship with Exeter City as well.

It’s been one of the most positive weeks here for years.

New manager announced - Paul Wotton

I can’t really imagine Booth giving up his job to sign a one year deal in professional football, doesn’t sound worth the risk. I’d also assume he may well have been told he will be a future TUFC captain after Hall retires.

If Wotton wants runners, McGavin is gone. I like having a playmaker with water carriers around him, but maybe that’s for the future and in this division we just can’t afford those type of luxury players.
