Gary Owers

I agree with that. Before Owers even took charge we were P10 W0 D3 L7. 3 points out of a possible 30 is disgraceful.

IF we win the last 2 games of the season, Owers’ record will be W12 D8 L16. 44 points from 36 games. A good recovery, just unfortunately not good enough. Using the points to games ratio, we would have gotten (in theory) 56 points over 46 games....

Need to win. Not only to keep momentum going, but to put pressure on the teams above too.

Easter Monday, Torquay v Woking, 2/4/18

Looking back on what I said might have been harsh actually. I had forgotten about how much of a dire situation we were in when Owers first arrived. Wasn’t it W0 D3 L7? And by my workings he has a win percentage now of 30%? Which isn’t actually that bad considering how we started the season. If only we didn’t have to wait so long for a manager to be appointed!

I still think we are down though, too much to do in 6 games. But win the next 3 and I will start thinking otherwise!

Easter Monday, Torquay v Woking, 2/4/18

Good win today. Our next 2 games will be the big test. Both pushing for playoff places.

I think we are still already down, but if we win our next 3 matches, then I might start thinking otherwise.

Let’s get this right though, nobody should be getting praised if we do stay up. This season has been embarrassing.

It needed to be on, and now that it is we need to win.

We need to get in their faces from the off. As was said above, an early goal can finish them as they are on a dismal run.

Well if there was an earlier inspection, and it was ok to play then, then with a couple of hours of dry weather there should be no reason to call it off. Also with the drying machine we should be good to go today!

Fortunate we could borrow the drying machine from Tiverton. This game needs to be on. Our squad does not have the strength in depth to cope with more fixture congestion.

Good of the club to keep us updated for once though!

What is required

For what it’s worth, I think we will win on Monday (if it’s on!). But it’s the games after that against Dover and Fylde which I can’t see is winning. 2 teams fighting for the playoffs. We might win 1, but not both.

Let’s keep it simple. We have to win every game. That will give us 55 points and safety.

They say it’s the hope it kills you. Well I can assure you I have no hope of us doing that.

Talking Torquay

Goose9 wrote: 27 Mar 2018, 21:40 There's a huge difference between confidence and complacency.

I fear that if we spend the summer thinking we're the 'big fish' or that we're bigger and better than the others then there is a real danger of ill-preparing the squad, them becoming over confident, thinking this league's nothing and then suddenly on a Saturday afternoon in August we're being dicked 4-0 by East Thurrock and wondering how it happened.

Whatever our past, once we are in the NLS we are of exactly the same stature as the opposition. Yes we may have a bigger ground, yes we may have more fans but we are in the same league, we will be of similar ability and we are fighting for the same thing. We cannot go in to any games thinking that we are better because we are bigger.
:goodpost:

Just because we are bigger doesn’t mean we are better.

With the current mugs in charge, you could say we are a step behind already.

Who stays next season?

The first signing I would be looking at would be an experienced head in the middle. Much like what Hargreaves was under buckle.

A strong backbone to the team is needed (I know some believe a backbone fullstop for some players...).

I don’t think it’s too much to EXPECT a full time team to be near the top when the majority of the league being part time. That’s not disrespectful to the others, it’s just logical.

Good signing. He has league experience, including scoring in the championship. Hopefully he will get game time!

Osborne Sells Up..... To Masters?

LIke I said before, it didn’t sound believable.

Especially as Truro could be in the league above us next year, with a new stadium in the process of being built. The value of that club is about to go up. Ours is on its way down.
