Will you be boycotting on Saturday?
I can't see how failing to cheer on the team is going to help get the first win of the season which is what we all want.
However I'm all for protest. Why not chant "You don't know what you're doing" 10 minutes before kickoff before the players come out?

But as a democratic body fan's opinions would carry some weight and if such a crass decision was made those responsible could be voted out.merse btpir wrote: ↑07 Sep 2017, 11:48 No; but I suspect they might well have opted for a 'Hargreaves/Nicholson type of character.

PS If the fans were running the club would it have taken 3 weeks to appoint a new manager!?

Having met the TUST board/team and received emails from Michael Goulbourne during the campaign to prevent GI buying the freehold of Plainmoor, I know them to be a dedicated and hardworking bunch of fans whose work behind the scenes usually goes unacknowledged, unrewarded and unappreciated.
TUST exists to (hopefully) one day secure community ownership of Torquay United by the fans. That’s us! Why wouldn’t you as a fan want to have a say in how your club is run? There are plenty of examples of clubs where this model of ownership works at this level of football and above, including (unfortunately) the one up the road.
I would encourage all fans to:
• Read ‘Punk Football – The Rise of Fan Ownership in English Football’ by Jim Keoghan. The history of the game makes it worth the read alone even if you are not interested in fan ownership and still not by the last page.
• Become a TUST member – it costs 50p a week.

Are GI Investing?
Thought I would post this from Kevin Foster's Weekly Update for others like me that don't do Facebook.
At least it offers some off the field security - although its not going to matter much if we don't start winning.
Perhaps Kevin Foster could have a word with Clarke Osborne and Geoff Harrop about how to sack and appoint managers?
Meeting With Clarke Osborne,
Today I met with Clarke Osborne, Chairman of Torquay United Football Club, to discuss his plans for the club, plus the concerns fans have raised about the future of Plainmoor.
During the meeting, that lasted just over an hour, a range of subjects were covered including plans for a new Academy, work to bring additional investors\commercial supporters into the club, his vision for where TUFC will be in five year's time, plans for a new stadium and, crucially, what his intentions were in relation to the Club acquiring the Freehold of Plainmoor Stadium.
Mr Osborne confirmed that it was no longer the Club's intention to seek the purchase of the Freehold at Plainmoor, other than as a part of a future deal that encompassed the building of a new stadium. When questioned he confirmed that the intention would be for the club to own any new stadium, with a view to non-matchday revenues being used to support the club overall.
This was a welcome discussion and I was pleased to be able to put some of the concerns raised by fans directly to Mr Osborne. His comments on the Freehold issue and on an Academy facility for TUFC were particularly welcome.
Plainmoor's Freehold cannot be considered separately to a binding plan to build a new stadium. Its ownership by the Council is intended to ensure there is a facility suitable for League Football here in the bay and protect it. Any deal to build a new stadium must be based on firm business plans, delivering a long term sustainable future for TUFC as a club playing in the football league.

Young - how does the poor bloke put up with playing with so many numpties?
Stuart C - cross bar challenge winner. Who would ever have thought that on a Saturday afternoon you'd be the second best player on the pitch? More exciting than last week when the lad did it first time.
Keating - his pressure and running often creates mistakes in the opposition that are not exploited
Higgins - his long throws are not used with enough imagination
McGinty - great positional play, gets his head on so many crosses

I refuse to abandon the unrealistic optimism that preseason allows me so:
Torquay (1)2 Tranmere (0)1
Keating & Young to score
Crowd of 2000

Thanks, an interesting read.torregull wrote: ↑19 Jul 2017, 15:14 Go to the Torbay Community Development website http://www.torbaycdt.org.uk, click on Community Partnerships link and then scroll down to Shiphay and Willows Community Partnership, click on again and you will find the Nightingale Park Consultation Report,June 2016.
Of course, we're all assuming that the new stadium will be at Nightingale Park. GI could reduce the period of planning consultation by building it at somewhere like Heathfield Industrial Estate near Bovey Tracey.

New Stadium
I can see how designing and building a new stadium may take 3 years but Clarke Osborne seems to have taken no account of the planning process in his timetable.
It's difficult to search back on the Herald site because of the change to Devonlive, but I’m sure that there were objections to the proposed stadium at Nightingale Park by local residents and current users. There are bound to be objections which means the planning process itself could take 3 years.
Does telling shareholders that TUFC will be in a new stadium within 3 years demonstrate Clarke Osborne’s lack of experience when it comes to building stadiums?

2017/2018 predictions
Ray, are you aware that amongst a section of Gulls fans the Barrow manager is considered to be a Judas? And before some people cry "He wasn't being paid", he knew what he was taking on, he spent the budget on a load of crap players and then ****** off. So... JUDAS!
As for this season's predictions, I refuse to leave Cloud Cuckoo Land and continue to enjoy the possibilities that this time of the season allows me to indulge in.
So:
Playoffs and promotion
FA Cup: A run with a money spinning club salvation tie against...wouldn't it be great...Spurs
FA Trophy: Out in the first round to concentrate on the league
Player of the season: Luke Young
Young player of the season: Ruairi Keating
Top scorer: Ruairi Keating

What would you like to change at TUFC?
I think the most important thing is that it's a direct service to the ground. At the moment fans from Paignton and Brixham have to walk to and from town.dannyrvtufc4life wrote: ↑08 Jul 2017, 22:28 Really like the bus idea. Could always coincide with the local bus routes with a 'TUFC discounted rate' for supporters wanting to go to Plainmoor. Supporters could buy a 'TUFC Pass' at the club shop at a cheap bus rate valid for one season. All of this would be need to be negotiated with the council, of course...
One poster seemed to suggest that I meant the service to be free but I think it would be reasonable to pay the going rate. For the club/bus company to know what the take up would be bus tickets could be booked and maybe paid for online. If the idea was successful enough a double decker could be painted in club colours.
Just like the idea of ticket booths in town and at the Willows, the buses could raise the profile of the club in the town.
