Constructive ideas how the club can make some more money

If there are any of last season's shirts left get them signed "The Great Escape - Kevin Nicholson" by Nicho and sell them in the club shop for £50.

Constructive ideas how the club can make some more money

Demand an extra pound for anyone attempting to enter the ground in a footy shirt that is neither TUFC or the away team.
Sell some better quality merchandise (I still personally think the new home kit is shocking and wouldn't buy one for a fiver). Wanted to buy a new hat but the colours are all wrong! Came away with a car sticker and prog when I was prepared to spend a lot more.
Promote the pre-match eating/drinking facilities better. Would rather eat/drink in St Marychurch before a game.
Demand an extra pound from anyone attempting to enter the ground NOT in a footy shirt that is either TUFC or the away team.

Would increase shirt sales and create a sea of yellow. (Wouldn't necessarily have to be this season's shirt!)

Good luck there then.

The gentleman who wanted to ask the question was speaking on behalf of TUST. Not sure who the people at the front were - probably the Board - one of the reasons in my previous post I made a comment about the Board not liking TUST.

He was repeating what Bernard Noble had called people who post on forums. Keyboard Wankers by the way, for clarity.

That's Bernard noble, by the way, the man who runs a supporters club, calling other supporters wankers.

I found Dave Phillips tacit endorsement of this comment quite distasteful. I have been quite critical of their handling of the club so I presume I would be included in their "Wanker" list, which is a lovely way to talk about fans who have bought season tickets, shirts, scarves, pints in No 10s and until this week contributed a nit inconsiderable sum to the players fund as I have.

Unfortunately that comment appears to be a microcosm of his attitude towards the fans of the club now, and there were hints at this in the majority of his answers last night. I certainly walked away with a rather bitter taste in my mouth.
But let's face it, both Dave Phillips and Bernard Noble probably think that the internet is a goal on the half way line and a mouse is something you call in Rentokil for.

There was a lad at the back that said he trusted the Board and would invest £500 in the club. I'm not sure if I trust the Board - ask me again on 1st Feb. And I would invest £500 in the club (maybe more) but in return I would want to have a say in the running of the club by voting on the election of members of the Board.

My impressions after attending the forum:

1. Everyone in that room had yellow blood (in a good way) running through their veins.

2. Supporters appreciate that the monies put into the club by the board saved it and therefore avoided asking pertinent questions about their business acumen regarding recent decisions that have left the club in a precarious position.

3. Kevin Nicholson might be a novice manager but boy, does he talk a lot of sense. Any new owners should hang on to him for as long as possible.

4. The board don't like TUST. Which is a shame because for me as a fan of Punk Football buying a share in a club and in return getting part of a collective say in how it is run is a no brainer.

GI & Masters takeover & Tully in as manager.

I would be over the moon if this were true... but why on earth would a Chinese consortium want to buy TUFC?

TUST Not An Option

hector wrote:There is a murky cloud hanging over TUFC. Masters has been loitering like a bad smell for some time and GI are clearly only in this for the property and building. Now it was only a couple of months or so ago that the deal to buy TUFC fell through because of the inability of Phillips/Masters/GI to wrestle the ground from council ownership.

What do GI want with a football club that they cannot get the ground for? As Jon pointed out on TFF, PLainmoor with TUFC as tenants is worthless but Plainmoor without TUFC is worth millions.

I think people like Matt think the likes of Masters/GI are going to pump a fortune into the club so we can reclaim our place in the higher leagues. That is a ridiculous and naive supposition.

The club will fold/be liquidated under the ownership of Masters/GI. They want property. It has been so obvious for so long - only David Phillips et al have been too blind to see it. They have blocked TUST at every turn when had the club really supported community ownership, then they could have been helping build up TUST for the last 18 months.

Instead they have handed it on a platter to GI. It's too late now. The club is gone - you better hope TUST has enough support to start up a phoenix club.

GI & Masters takeover & Tully in as manager.

S4fedr1ve wrote:IF true then time will tell regarding the takeover. God knows something has to happen. But as stated above Nico in my view is the best manager we have ever had. A big statement i know and i go back to Frank o Farrell days. But no manager has ever done more for this club off the pitch as well as on. I will be gutted if true. And why was Steve Tully got rid of by Truro last year but is now good enough for us. Bizarre IF true.
Because with a crap manager we will be down. They want the ground not the club.

Only TUST ie the supporters as owners, would have the club's best interests in mind.

GI and Peter Masters would want to line their pockets with silver, perhaps even at the expense of the club's survival.

S4fedr1ve wrote:As far as im concerned this was only ever the last resort so hopefully Mr Phillips is confident of a take over elsewhere soon. As for a Trust running a football club i look at the Exeter model. Yes they have been running the club for a number of years but on crowds over twice that of ours. The only reason they have not gone to the wall is due to cup runs and youth team sales. Neither of which we have.

Mike
But there is nothing to say we could not also have these if the club was run in a more sustainable way.

Southampton Gull wrote:The only thing that will hold up a salel is if Phillips and Co try to hold out for a deal that gives them their initial investment back. I know of one interested party that doesn't view that as workable.
I took it as read that that was the case. £30k each by the original 10 members of the board equals the "price of a detached house in the Bay" price tag that was given by Phillips.

Disappointing but not surprising. The board are short-sighted.

I hope Dave Phillips et al. know what they're doing. If they don't us fans could shortly be without a club to support and he'll go down in Gulls history for all the wrong reasons.

Can Nicholson keep us up

I agree with the majority of posters who say that Nicho can do it and he is the best thing that the club has going for it.

But we have to do our bit and get behind the team. At the last two games the Yellow Army has been very quiet, practically silent. I know that crowd participation and atmosphere is organic and difficult to dictate but also a bit of singing and chanting would do a lot to get the best out of the players.
