MOTM - Tonbridge

Moxey good covering at the back
Tomlinson kept control of the handy centre forward
Ash just kept running and a good goal
Harris despite a few errors seemed pretty solid and happy to go forward
Collins fair amount of creativity until he got injured. Great pass for the first goal

Torquay Utd v Aldershot Town - Tue 01/11/22 7.45pm

What a difference last night! I heard a Shot supporter afterwards saying they were stunned at being slaughtered. Loved the setup with Hall in front of the back four then Da Silva and Wearne out wide running rings around their backs. Quick moves with balls being played to feet or in front of a runner then sharpness in front of goal. Great crosses into the box. This might get Derby thinking more seriously about Sunday. Fingers crossed no more injuries and we can carry on with this format as the whole team were buzzing last night. COYY

Torquay vs Bromley 5/03/2022

Pretty impressed with the overall performance yesterday against a very big team. Plenty of commitment and good defending but no real threat up front. Would have liked to see us pass and run more as they were so big they can't have been speedy. Abysmal ref who completely ignored the wrestling matches from their defenders and the guy who injured Little. How come Johnson was booked for complaining whereas Cheek moaned most of the match?? Nevertheless the whole team worked hard to overcome playing with 10 men.

Boxing Day Fixture v Yeovil Town FC

Picking up portugal's comments I too am desperate to get back to Plainmoor but health reasons mean I can't at the moment. It's not just Plainmoor but most shops (especially supermarkets) as well and I know several others the same as me. So I am sure there are many who would love to be back on the terrace/benches as it just isn't the same jumping up and down at home although the streaming has been great. Fortunately I have only had two yellow cards from the wife for ungentlemanly comment towards the ref's decisions.
I will be back in 2021 but in the meantime will continue to whoop and holler at home. COYY

Torquayunited v FC Halifax 14/4/18

Can't believe I am agreeing with most of the sentiments posted as I've been a supporter for well over 50 years. This year has been so ruddy depressing and now the team seem resigned to relegation - just look at the defence on Tuesday. How come we have played good football at times but only for short periods? Have to say I don't see myself renewing my season ticket next year but will come to matches when I am free. Always a supporter at heart but need convincing there is a way back.

Is it true the fat lady has been booked to sing tomorrow?????

MOTM - Guiseley

Keating - kept running up front
Clarke - good awareness and a couple of critical saves ... one great reaction save.
Gosling - seemed to moved around the pitch well and looked to move the ball
Pittman - good little terrier
Higgins - long throws again caused problems but needs to use a long ball less

Guiseley v Torquay United 19/08

Just back from a weekend up north hence a 'late' posting and to be honest haven't read all the posts in this thread so pols if I repeat. However, it's prob been said we threw the match away in the last ten minutes. Atrocious first thirty minutes where it was all hoof and hope. No midfield - in fact I had to ask my mate at half time if Lathrope was playing! Defence were all over the place and they kept threading balls down the right with numerous crosses flying around the box. Their centre forward and number 9 were running us ragged. Corners kept causing us problems with the bar being hit and sure enough their goal was inevitable. So, I was pretty amazed when we did score and that put us on the front foot to go 2-1 up. Second half was completely different. They took one of their good defenders and the dangerous number 9 off - even their fans were stunned. Started well for them but then we pushed the ball around on the ground and were peppering their goal. In fact one occasion we had it in their box for what seemed like an age but the eventual shot was blasted over the top. Lasted for a good thirty mins when we should have gone further ahead. But the usual last ten mins when we just fell back on defence and gave the goals away. Ended with McGinty having a blazing row with the team after the final whistle.
Sad thing is when we do play football we have the beating of teams but we just can't seem to play for 90 mins.

Season tickets

Don't quite fit the categories. Have already said I'm ready to buy a season ticket but can't say I won't be asking myself questions. After 55 years I'm not ready to give up now!

Final Game - North Ferriby @ 12:15

Gutted to have missed yesterday's match but pure relief when checking my phone for updates. A season of total inconsistency especially against the lower teams but a glimmer of positive hope from several of the final games. Respect to Nicho for persevering and I am sure he has learned so much this season having been battered from every possible angle. But as the posts say, how do we move on for next year? Agree with most of names to be retained and I definitely think Rowe-Turner should be one as he has improved so much. He covers so much ground, now has the football brain to cover at the back when other defenders are pulled out of position. Also has made more good runs down the wing. Sorry to say I don't think Chaney has improved but he is still young. Will be interesting to see who goes in the clear-out and what support Nicho will get but I'll be watching for when the season tickets go on sale as I'll be there for sure next season.

Final Game - North Ferriby @ 12:15

Ruddy heck. Can't get to the match today so just going have to be a bag of nerves at home! Think the support will be fantastic today so I'll just shout from here when we score - have already warned the neighbours.

Reckon nerves from the players will affect the opening 15 mins but confident we will end up 3-1 winners.

The truth is out should Nicholson be sacked

What's the point in sacking Nicho? We're so late in the season any change is liable to cause major problems and I genuinely think he has tried his very best to get the team going. I am sure his heart is in the Club and you just need to see his reaction lately, shows he is fully committed. Finally the team seem to have found that wish to stay up and so are giving their all as well as having more sense as to tactics (Eastleigh excepted). Agree with all the comments that Nicho needs our backing as he is the key man to chose the right team, hammer home the gameplan and keep them motivated on the field. Time for the team to show they have that desire to fight on and for us to back them noisily with our support.

Torquay v Solihull 22/11/16

That's more like it! I was hopeful after Saturday's second half performance but it was far better than expected last night. Slow start but they all quickly started to pressure Solihull and never let up. Thankfully their defence was poor but still a super hat-trick from Moore. However the key for me were the great crosses from Sparkes - he really zipped them in to the danger area. Have to compliment LRT as well for a really strong performance as he kept a handy winger under control and on several occasions covered well at the back - probably his best match this season so well done to him. Also Luke Young kept the midfield engine going and fantastic foresight in trying to chip the goalie from half-way.
Can we now use this new format to rattle Tranmere and Daggers? I am sure that until last night they probably thought they were in for certain three points but now they need to think again. Feeling far more confident while Moore is with us and hopefully that has given confidence back to the team.

Where's everyone gone in the forum?

Seems like there is still interest in the Forum from comments above but mainly a readership. I'm only an occasional 'poster' but find it an ideal means of getting my feelings out there and to hear others thoughts. Maybe we are all getting into a rut with no success to enthuse about and a bit fed up having to criticise too often. OK with all the problems on and off the field we all know the Club is in a vulnerable state but there have been glimmers of hope on the pitch when we do pass the ball and play football. Fingers crossed for Saturday's Cup match as Woking have been going through a tough patch and Nico is obviously trying to gee the team up. As for posts, let's all try and add something even if we don't all agree, as apathy will be the killer of the Club.

Out on an edge ........ 2-0 win on Sat!
