Ex-Gull watch
Anyone wondering where Guy Gnabouyou (the French lad who we thought might be decent last season after seeing his goals on Youtube but who barely played and left without telling anyone after a couple of weeks) is these days? No me neither, but he's currently plying his trade in the Greek second division with Iraklis after signing in January. After leaving us so abruptly he went to play a bit in the Icelandic first division for ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar.

Johnson in demand
Spoke to a Yeovil supporting friend last night about this, He was very sceptical about any possibility of Johnson even being approached. Johnson seems to be loving life at Torquay so can't see him wanting to go anywhere else at present.

Ah ok I see it, how come Chelmsford posted it half an hour ago and we haven't said anything?

BBC Radio Devon
I think the club's done an excellent job when it comes to providing commentary this season. I was expecting there to be no end of problems but from the start it's worked well.
Contrast this to the one game which was broadcast on BBC Radio Devon, the Truro game on New Years Day I think it was. The feed cut out three times for significant lengths of time and they missed three of our goals.

Bath Away jan 19th
Same here. I've been going to away games for years and years and I always remember our away following with positive memories, the best being the play-off semi final away leg against Shrewsbury in 2011. I was always happy to go with my family. This season though, something has changed. Gloucester, Weston and now Bath have just been embarrassing. Kids jumping on the goals and throwing smoke bombs at Gloucester, the same lot doing almost exactly the same thing at Weston and the bin thrown on the pitch, and now all that business on Saturday. I don't remember it ever being this bad in all my time supporting the club. Also I thought the atmosphere was pretty poor on Saturday, neither set of supporters were particularly loud. Maybe it was being on a cold open terrace but our fans never got going even before the match.Kernowgull wrote: ↑21 Jan 2019, 22:02 Whereas in the past I've taken many friends and colleagues to Torquay games, and always been excited about what they'd think of our away following/atmosphere, I wouldn't dream of it based on what I've seen this season.

Brett Williams
Having looked back the the thread announcing his signing last January, the reaction is more tempered than I remember. Much more tempered than at Moss Rose in his first game back. There he really was treated like the returning messiah, there were supporters talking to each other about how he was a brilliant player who would bang the goals in.Southampton Gull wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019, 17:56 Not sure who you're aiming your comment at as I don't recall anyone rejoicing the way you mentioned. The simple fact is we never played to his strengths, he never hit the heights BUT a club higher up the pyramid than us have signed him. Definitely a player with talent but seldom had the application to go with it. Onwards and upwards.
My post from the match day thread that day sums up my feelings:
Given the hype and the vocal expectation in the stand I thought Williams contributed about as much to the game as Reid. He had a couple of off target attempts and gave away the ball a couple of times. All in all I don't think he did very much while he was on, I'd start him ahead of Reid next time but only because he can't possibly be offer any less.

Bath Away jan 19th
I tried Bath quite a few times today bit found them engaged all the time. Eventually managed to get through and bought a ticket very quickly from a helpful bloke who said I can pick the ticket up from Twerton Park on the day or drop by beforehand.

I called Bath City an hour ago and they confirmed that it would be all ticket for away fans, and that they would be sending 1,000 tickets to Torquay. This will be done early next week. I was told that I could pick up tickets from Twerton Park as well, as I only live a few miles away in Bristol, so I would imagine they'll keep quite a few back, perhaps to be sold on the day.Caldwellanddobson wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 18:02 I’ve just e-mailed Bath City and will post any reply received here.

The one time the BBC broadcast a game and they miss the goal due to technical difficulties. Bloody typical.
